2019+ Chevy Silverado 1500 OEM Tow Hitch Install

Installing a factory/ OEM trailer hitch on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. The truck did not come with the trailering package, so we will be adding those components in this video. This should work on any Chevy/ GMC 1500 2019+ model year.

Goober, I did what you and Tom (below) did. Bought the kit from Chevrolet. Paid $415 for the hitch and the 7/4 pin connector and bolts. Followed your instructions but did not pull the harness. I must not have the sensor you mentioned. Great instructional video.
Note, should you want to install a brake controller, be careful. There are a few videos out there. A guy from SoCal installed a factory unit but it did not work. He ended installing a Curt brand unit that did work. I went to the local Chev dealer and he mentioned that they would install the Curt unit. Say whaaattt? I will see what another dealer says.

Thanks man! I appreciate any feedback. I did actually install a brake controller in the truck also, but I’m not super happy with the unit, so I’m not going to promote it. I should have another in the next week or 2 so stay tuned for it.

I did the same on my truck. I agree I thought the aftermarket options were a bad design, plus the oe hitch use’s 6 bolts vs the 4 bolts on the aftermarket hitch

can you install an OEM trailer brake in the cab and have the dealer program the trailer brake assy if you don't have the trailer package. My 2020 LT did not have the towing package installed so I had them install the hitch and light connection as part of the purchase.

I was told that you cannot add it after the fact by my dealer.

The factory hardware on the truck will be reused.
