I’ve used coconut oil, shea butter, and castor oil after washing my hair and it was amazing. My hair is down to my waist and I’ve never been able to grow it that long without it breaking. Your dad didn't want you to have long hair... my parents didn't want us to cut our hair!! We were girls with hair below our butt abs we hated it when we swam or slept bc it would wrap around our necks. Lol. Mom would pull our scalps back when making ponytails on us and by the end of day, our scalp was very sore also bc of the weight of the hair. I'll be trying this concoction to see if I could get at least a portion of that thickness back as I lost a lot of hair. I'm in my mid 50s, so my hair thinned out A LOT over the years 😢 😅😅😅
Honey is so good for defining curls! I found my hair getting sticky, though, and I don't usually wear my curls out, so my two ingredient hair oil is coconut oil and olive oil. I'm going to add Shea butter to the next batch and try that.
How'd that work out? What kinda hair type are you? I'm curious cause I worry my hair will get sticky from the honey aswell so looking for more options to make my own hair and skin products
@@davinarasmussenafter washing the hair with water, the honey will disappear and the hair won't be sticky but about the oily part(if you apply it with some kind of oil), I don't know.
Quick question: you wash the hair first and then apply the conditioner which you wash out after letting it sit in the prior washed hair for 3 mins? How to prevent the hair staying oily after rinsing it out with with water?
I recommend a mixture of an oily component, some acid and maybe protein. Coconut, 1-2 spritz of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and if you like 1 egg yolk. But not needed. Only for hair damage. Apply the oil (and if wanted the yolk) onto the ends/length before washing (shampooing) the scalp to prevent the tensids to damage/drain the hair length. Then rinse the shampoo thoroughly and apply/rinse with apple vinegar. Oil & yolk replace lost fats and amino acids and the acid closes the hair cuticle to make the hair super soft and shiney.
I would recommend swapping the coconut oil for a beef tallow honey mixture The coconut oil coats the hair strand completely and just sits on top of the stand which cause dry hair, insane amount of buildup as well If you use beef tallow with honey both work to heal your hair, grows your hair, reduced itchy scalp issues, and frizz issues all because beef tallow is a saturated fat that can penetrate the hair strand rather then sit on top. The beef tallow also has vitamine A, D, K, and E the Honey, since its a humectant, seals all the vitamins and moisture inside
I've also heard that about coconut oil! That is why I try to avoid using it, I get nervous about my hair becoming more dry. Definitely going to look into beef tallow now, thanks for sharing this information!
@@lovetobe6118 Seriously beef tallow is amazing and i’ve never used it as a make up remover i gotta try that. It was a trial and error thing for me. And I now only oil my scalp before shampoo (as opposed to after shampooing) and put some oil at the end after shampooing.
What's your race if you don't mind me asking? And if you are African American, are you relaxed?®️👁️💤
@@ebonydavis7621 Spanish part Arab and my hair is coarse, a little wavy and frizzy. It has gotten worse because now I am mostly gray and those grays are not heavy any longer so I don’t have the weight that used to help my hair so it wouldn’t be so frizzy if that makes sense.
I'm Mexican and my hair doesn't like coconut oil. My favs for hair are Argan oil, macadamia nut oil, and jojoba.
What was the herbs you’ve added?
Ive always had a hard time with coconut oil. I have thin hair, and it seems very heavy and will stay in my hair even after three washes.
What about coconut oil clogging the pipes ??
When you wash it out you’re doing it with warm/hot water (or else the coconut will harden in your hair) so you’re not using cold water in the first place. It’s like doing the dishes but in the shower lol
@@Rosetta-gp9mk hot water or not.. it can still clog the pipes. You’re never suppose to put any oil or grease down the drain. It can build up over time, my husband is a plumber and we have a restoration company.
@@uhohnoseatbeltTV this is actually a great issue to bring up. I understood that we should run hot water down our sinks to keep any accumulated grease moving out of the pipes. I do have dedicated grease bottles for cooking residue ( grease, etc) and dont put grease down the drain, but gunk somehow builds up, as I find it while cleaning sinks. But, maybe rise over a basin, and pitch that water into the garden? Oh you shouldn't have mentioned your husband is a plumber!! LOL! Thank you.
@@kaepeach7588 lol I don’t have a good answer to this!! Then you’d have to dump the water outside ? 🤣🤣 I think that would be fine. Warm up the water in the sun in a kid pool in the summer, rinse out and dump? 😆
@@uhohnoseatbeltTV 🤔🤭🤭🤣🤣 yeah, that or the garden, it's all the same 😁. We're in grow zone 9a and get a summer junior about now. LOL, take care.
What is the proprtion or the measurement?
And what shampoo do you use ?😅
I have silver hair and the clay for washing will stain my hair. Do you have any alternatives I can use?
Diatomaceous earth
@@katep6724 oh, that’s a cool idea! I like that…. (I’m not OP, but I like the idea all the same)
Is cinnamon oil ok?
What if you don't have honey??
What do you use for shampoo
She details it in the description of this video :)
I can not do this with my hair.
This looks great on bouncy curly hair.
I have wavy straight hair.
Does it draw bees?
Do you have a vid for short protective styles
What herbs..does she mean ayurvedic herbs
She details it all in the description of this video :)
Looked like you added instant coffee?
We do this in Greece with olive oil , castor oil and honey
Which Ayurvedic herbs do you use?
Maybe Shikakai powder. I live in India and here Shikakai is what the ladies use to clean their hair
She details it all in the description of this video :)
The end result looked like it leaves a sticky/waxy residue. Doesn't look well-hydrated or absorbed, just thickly coated.
Description says adding Shikakai powder. NOT for BLOND hair! It will darkening.
Hair looks weighed down because of coconut oil. I can never use it because coconut oil clogs follicles and sits on hair and I'm already too acne prone
What is the recipe?
