I heard this song yesterday and it's appropriate here with all the comments. What is most important? Jesus. So too, the pagan symbols have been redeemed and glorify Christ. The Christmas tree symbolizes the star over Bethlehem and James 1:17-18: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. The green leaves and red berries of holly represent eternal life and the blood of Christ. Wreaths represent eternal life and Heaven because of the circular shape, greenery, and rewards in the form of ornaments. December 25th may not be his actual birthday, but the time of year is appropriate because the Light of Life came into a dark, cold, dead world, which Winter symbolizes.
