Who is this theatre company? I am beyond impressed with the musicianship of the cast and the players. Lighting spectacular throughout. We are having some trouble conceiving some of the sections of this as they don't make much sense, but whomever revisited this and made these changes are genius-level.
This is an enchanting production. The people who made it should be unendingly proud of themselves. That first reveal of the gardens where the "ghosts" move the arches around I actually felt chills. I wish I could have seen this live. The secret garden has always been my favorite book, movie and play.
Am fortunate to have stumbled upon this video--such an excellent production of the show. I was particularly surprised by how well the visual elements both enhanced and felt integral to the production. While the cast and other aspects are all very strong, it feels to me like there was a director with a strong and distinct vision and with an unerring touch. Thank you for sharing the video.
Beautiful production. Shame this never made it back to Broadway. The insertions/deletions work well, though I miss the Quartet and Race You To the Top of the Morning (I'm partial to them, having played Archie before). Having them gone, tho, really does streamline things quite a bit. And putting The Girl I Want to Be after/during Show Me The Key makes so much more sense. Fantastic performances by all, beautiful set design, and oh my gosh the lighting. The scene with Martha opening the window and the light rushing in genuinely made me smile (16:45 or so). Theatre magic, folks. The Dreamers are also used extremely effectively. Bravo.
They have started a new revival that is looking to return to Broadway, but still appear to have cut the Quartet/Race You To the Top of the Morning which I find heartbreaking. I takes away from the character development so much, but, then again, it is a killer vocally for whomever is playing Archie. I hate to think they just cut it for time.
I really enjoy the rearrangement of A Girl in the Valley as it fits more as Archie's memory replaying. Instead of just one ball which is how it typically in played, it goes through their courtship and relationship is something I wish other productions did. And as much as I like the quartet song, I like that Neville got a fuller song that was his. Plus while his intentions may not be the best, he also not an out right villain either. Thank you for posting this, I've been looking for this all over the place. I was also wondering if you could split this video up into two parts as you did with the other live performance of the show.
I gotta say, the scene that replaced Race You to the Top of the Morning including the Lily’s Eyes reprise is very awkward and probably as long as that song was. Between this and the recent Los Angeles Revival that Lucy Simon was working on, one has to wonder what she doesn’t like about that beautiful song that actually shows Archie loving his son
Agreed but as a Neville having that as a solo is kind of nice XD haha and I think it makes him more of a villain in a traditional way, in the regular productions he doesn't normally have this black and white of being greedy
I have a weird feeling that I saw this production as a kid in california. I seem to remember that painting of Lily. Does anyone know where/when this was filmed?
I haven't been able to find a complete cast list, but in some of 5th Aves youtube videos, they put some of the actors. Lizzie Klemperer (Lily) Tam Mutu (Archibald) Charlie Franklin (Dickon) Josh Young (Dr. Cravin) Daisy Eagan (Martha) I believe this is this version's cast. Hope it helps!

Just found this and am eager to view the whole production. A "Lily" with the clear, smooth timbre of my dear, much missed, Rebecca Luker!

Fascinating. This director was exceptionally focused on the visual story telling. Nice comment.

I wondered that very thing
It's too bad that "Quartet" wasn't a full quartet in this production... Neville is usually one of my favorite performances

They were hoping to take it further
@@CalvinHobbies further than what? Did they get permission to rewrite the material?
Broadway Revival. Lucy was working on it.
Which theatre in DC? Kennedy Center? Ford's Theatre? Olney?@@CalvinHobbies
