i stumbled on this movie on accident and i loved it. i absolutely adore this movie, its story, the acting, the cinematography is breathtaking. this movie is slow and pleasant, but it left me paranoid and constantly questioning. however, you're so caught up in the story you barely realize how the time passed and how its only one actor arguing with himself. i genuinely hold this film close to my heart all the time. also heads up, thank you for having such calm open discussions about films. i watch these videos when im doing laundry and before i go to sleep. they are pleasant conversations as if i actually have friends. lol sad. but honestly? how is this video 30 minutes when it in no way felt like 30 minutes. im happy i found you guys!
This film is definitely a pearl in a bed of oysters. Sam Rockwell is amazing. I can totally feel his sense of depression, despair and sarcasm. Raising a glass to my 2 favorite film critics.
Moon truly is a hidden gem. Found it randomly on HBO on morning and was riveted and pleasantly surprised by a movie I'd never heard of. Just like how I found your channel. Grateful for both and both of you guys. 🙂
Still riding drag. Sam Rockwell doesn't do a bad job, ever. He finds his beats.. Good review. I wish they had have done more with the connected movie. But it was enticing. I am surprised you blow off Confessions of a Dangerous Mind so quickly. Cool spy movie
Is one of the holes, maybe no one would volunteer or it will be forbidden, or they needed someone with proven skills and they were clones from the creator himself.
i'd love to hear both your opinions on Starship Troopers. Moon and Starship Troopers are in my top ten sci-fi films of all time, but then again i have about 100 movies in my top ten
Never seen the film, but going to watch it now! thanks for a great review. I did pause it at the spoilers part...but then had to continue, but by the sounds of it you have in no way spoiled the experience of watch it, great job guys.
Oliver Pengilley I haven't gotten to their spoiler part, but I watched this movie only knowing it was sci-fi & Sam Rockwell. It blew me away. Instant favorite. I've watched it several times.
Sam Rockwell helped elevate the green mile with his funny and dangerous psychopath. After moon I began to consider him great. The characters he played after are beneath him. Moon was an award deserving performance.
O.K., but, really, why do they even need the Sam clones? I mean, from everything we're shown, the person does very little - it seems, for at least several days (i.e., the span of the film's story) - contributory to any sort of mission. The miners run themselves, and G.E.R.T.Y. likely can do just fine in maintaining the base. Would the cost even be worth it of having manufactured evidently hundreds of clones - any one of which, upon just a few snafus, could bring down the entire operation?
Don't get me wrong, I loved Moon. Still one thing about the movie, I don't understand. If the rover accident was only an implant in a new clones mind, how was the new Sam able to rescue the old Sam from a rover accident? Was this just in his mind. If so then never would have been able to rescue the old Sam. If it was just a coincidence, it's a fairly large one. I'm sure there is a logical explanation for this, but I don't see it. I mean why did the 2nd clone appear?
I just rewatched it last night, and had a thought. Gerty mentioned the abilty of Luner Industries making mind implants, but did Gerty also have that ability? I mean did Gerty implant memories into the 2nd Sam (5th,) about the "rescue" of the other Sam, after deciding to awake the 2nd Sam, as a way to initially cover it's tracks. Pehaps it was just trying to find a way to right a wrong that was occuring, and this was the best way to introduce the concept that Sam was a clone. Any thoughts?
The greatest thing about G.E.R.T.Y., is everyone in the audience has been trained, across her or his lifetime, to be completely untrusting of the computerized asshole (doesn't help, in retrospect, that the character is played by Kevin Spacey...).
So, if (sick) Sam is able to review fifteen years of recordings, Eve is fifteen years old when (sick) Sam calls her, and each clone lasts three years, shall we figure the real Sam Bell never went on this mission, in the first place (but instead perhaps was just trained on earth)? If so, I assume that Tess knew in all those videos that she's lying, and that perhaps this is why she seemed "troubled" in the some of the recordings. So, is Sam Bell just a piece of shit?
How can you ever dislike these guys? They really are excellent in details and opinions on films. KEEP UP THE AWEOME WORK GUYS!!!!!
i think the slaphead mulllet might be something to do with it
You guys deserve to be recognized by a larger audience. I enjoy your reviews and it never gets boring to listen to you two discussing.
Kevin Spacey played the robot.
That explains the robot getting touchy-feely.

You guys are the best when it comes to building up a movie without using spoilers, brb watching now
Fuck that was a great film
You should really check out The Way Way Back if you like Sam Rockwell. Best movie of that year, that I watched.
Moon truly is a hidden gem. Found it randomly on HBO on morning and was riveted and pleasantly surprised by a movie I'd never heard of. Just like how I found your channel. Grateful for both and both of you guys. 🙂
another great one. His story continues in the background of a recent movie, which escapes my memory right now. Thanks guys. Good review
Mute
Never thought about before, the idea that Gerty would sympathise with another man-made servant
There is a scene where Sam 2 cut his base cable, trying to out smart Gerty.
Not knowing that Gerty's the one let him go with a smile face.

This film is a masterpiece...
shut up!
Sam Rockwell was excellent in
“Matchstick Men” along with Nicholas Cage.
There is no dark side of the Moon....really...
Does the movie explain why mucking about with clones is deemed more effective than actually replacing a single astronaut every 3 years?
Is one of the holes, maybe no one would volunteer or it will be forbidden, or they needed someone with proven skills and they were clones from the creator himself.

The song "The Nursery" plays.
*sobs quietly in corner*

erm why don't you two just stfu, watch the damn film and then come back to write your vacuous comments afterwards (not before)

101% agreed. extremely overlooked masterpiece.
not star trek, not star wars... not interested.
Amazing movie.
I love this movie. Found it by accident. It was such an under the radar movie.

a sam rockwell movie you need to see and review is " confessions of a dangerous mind. "
Great movie - esp for a debut and the budget. Very "Bladerunner" themes; ie disposable people.
Thanks, guys 🙂
Nice Doc Holliday theme song at the end guys! love it
Moon & Purple Rain? 2u just made my weekend!
Mentioning that Gerty was compassionate pre spoilers was a mistake. But overall I liked the review.

Helium 3 as in the same type of energy that Mass Effect uses alongside element zero that powers the ships of that universe.
Spoiler alert! He was on Mars in the Poltergeist remake. Vacant performance.
Such an amazing film and the acting is superb
We are whalers on the moon. We carry a Harpoon, but there ain’t no whales so we tall tales, and sing our whaling tune.
You can tell that they used the picture of the Earth from Apollo17.
I think the new Sam is not tougher, he is just fresher, the older ones are just in bad shape because they have been alone for three years.
The film shows the psycholpgical effects of long isolation. And yes the new one looks way tougher and aggressive.
The greatest thing about G.E.R.T.Y., is everyone in the audience has been trained, across her or his lifetime, to be completely untrusting of the computerized asshole (doesn't help, in retrospect, that the character is played by Kevin Spacey...).
Need more horror for Halloween guys!
A master piece of a masters son.

They were taken down because of copyright so they had to be re edited :) - Iain
Umbrella , Weyland Yutani, Ingen and Lunar ind.....Google. When will we learn?
4:27 As you can see, it sucks as it cuts. It certainly does suck!
wonderful review of a wonderful film 🎥✔
*Turn up*
I must say, I didn't love G.E.R.T.Y.'s display - it felt neither advanced nor retro, in aesthetics.
Hmmmm I wonder what Kevin spacey did with the rest of his day??

Did you just call Dawid Bowie a pop star? WTF
the 90s were a rough time for him....
Have a Sam Smiths on me. Cheers from North Carolina!
keep the beard, but it's time to shave the head.
Aww, poor special effects guys, I misjudged you. Wonder if you made yourselves look like thugs?
