- Organizing the Top 5 Homeless Categories takes a look at the most under-recognized categories my organizing team finds in our client's homes. Those categories include:
1. Keepsakes
2. Decor
3. Gifts to give
4. Projects
5. Departures
To learn more about the importance of establishing a dedicated zone for "departures," download my book The Circulation Solution for free from mattbaier.com.
Great idea to honour loved ones on birthdays, deathdays, and anniversaries!
Thanks. It’s a great opportunity to bring awareness to why you are keeping these things and stir up some great memories. Those items that don’t can go.
Very helpful categories and advice! I like how you talk about keepsakes being a part of your past and also, "How much of your home space is devoted to your past?".
Thanks. Yes, you have to prioritize to organize. Giving yourself a clear scoreboard of where things stand makes it easier.
Thanks Matt! I'm forwarding this video to my husband who is working on the basement with me. I didn't realize that we had so many different places for keepsakes and projects. I love these guidelines!
Thanks Irene! You’re in very good company. Keepsakes have a way of spreading out most of the households we see.
Ooh, I need a donation depot in the garage. I end up driving around for a month with bags of stuff for Green Drop. 😂
Yes, collecting donates is one thing, but getting them where they need to go is quite another.
You seem to have left out step 6: 'Stop Consumption'. That's the easiest way to organize anything. Just saying.
Agreed, although that would actually belong in a video, called “top five easier - said - than- done ways to stay organized.”
