Thank you for posting this from her appearance at Newport/New York with Kenton in, I believe 1972. This snippet is fresh from a collection of at least 2 others from the same set. June doesn't have so many videos of her later career on You Tube, so we think of this find as a real treat. June was my aunt, and she sounded and looked great on this tour. Wish I could have been there in person.
@@quabledistocficklepo3597 why? she brought pleasure to people at all stages of her life, no need to whitewash any of it away just because you're an ageist
@@QUABLEDISTOCFICKLEPO think drinking had something to do with it -for me her peak was around ‘57 -check out the Road Show album with Kenton -live ( believe she had a cold ) never sounded better!
As much as I've begun to dislike genre labels, the older I get, I regard Stan Kenton's various projects, including this stellar one/era with June Christy as being vital, if not singularly so, in defining the real beginning of 'progressive' modern musics; including fusion and prog/art rock.
This must be her worst recording of this song. It's terrible. She just didn't have the voice that made her earlier recordings immortal. Too much smoking, I guess. I'm sorry I stumbled across it.
@@lbird2 But I keep her earlier recording of this song in my June Christy file along with "Something Cool," "I Didn't Know What Time it Was," and "What's New." Now that you remind me, I'm going to look for others that I can add.
June Christy's voice just makes me melt; one of my all time fav. singers period. And she was also so beautiful.
Sol da Meia Noite e de todas as horas. Cantora e Orquestra SENSACIONAIS. Música e letra de altíssima inspiração. Maravilha.

God bless your Aunt June.
Her memory would have been better served if these recordings had never been made.

Sounds pretty great to me.

There's beautiful imagery in this.
Very under appreciated lady -her voice got huskier as she aged -like fine wine
VERY under-appreciated, there are a lot of fools about...
Like spoiled milk.

More like soured wine. I don't know exactly when it happened, but she should have stopped singing years before.

ALWAYS I REMEMBER.....

It isn't the same as her recording that's true. Live performances never are. There is nothing wrong with this performance.
Have to agree with you. Off key and crazy vibrato.

This is a terrible recording. It should never have been distributed.
@@QUABLEDISTOCFICKLEPO The whole "Something Cool" album is excellent. I really like her rendition of Midnight Sun from the Kenton Road Show album.
