I’d like to give Summoned Skull an honorable mention as one of Yugi’s secondary aces. This thing took out Weevil, helped take down Rare Hunter, was used to bring out Black Skull Dragon and for Spellbinding Circle baits, and almost took down Pegasus in EPISODE 2 (if it wasn’t for the lousy timer). It also was a part of his deck against the Pharaoh in their final duel so that Yugi would have a 2500 ATK point monster.
@@dudono1744 Yes. He was meta because 1 tribute 2500 attack was good and unique for a while. All the other 1 tributes were 2400 like Jinzo and Luster Dragon. Moreso (if you played at school and such) the most common non-tributes were 1800 and the easiest equip was Malevolent Nuzzler which pushed up to 2500 meaning they would have to trade 2 cards for your 1 beatstick. So no matter how you look at it, Summoned Skull was good until the game got faster, roughly when Cyber Dragon came out.
It's also one of the few cards that he had that actually wasn't in grandpa's deck It was yugi's strongest monster I read they this was meantioned in the manga
I would put money on Shining Flare Wingman originally being Judai's ace, but they later changed their mind and created Neos. Flare had the right stats for it too, matching Dark Magician's atk and def.
The best thing about Junk Warrior was also that Yusei ended the series with it. Not quasar dragon, shooting star dragon or any of the cards he got because he was a chosen one. It was Junk Warrior his dependable first Ace that also perfectly symbolizes his philosophy of using every card to its fullest extend. Not even weak cards are without purpose which is why Junk Warrior gets a power Boost from level 2 or less monsters It was so awesome to see Junk Warrior defeat Jacks Red Dragon Archfiend with a final Scrap Fist which not only won Yusei the duel but also inspired Scarlight Dragon Archfiends design of having his arm scarred. It was the same Arm that Junk Warrior busted up in their last confrontation
Fun fact: GX is actually the only time they mention the banlist in the anime. In a brief discussion about the two Envoy monsters they state Chaos Emperor Dragon is banned.

in the final duel in duel academy against chronos, Jaden summons flame wingman and says it will always be my FAVOURITE HERO. it was the only moment in all of anime where i almost shed a tear. He got a retrain few days ago too that allows him get FAVOURITE Cards
i'd like to argue that Speed Warrior is Yusei's second ace. the number of times he summoned Speed Warrior turn 1/2 and then got it destroyed just so he could use Junk Synchron to bring it back is unreal
you now, i never thought of Gearfried the Iron Knight as being even so much as Joey's tertiary ace monster, but thinking about it now, it seems to be his perfect secondary ace. He actually owned the card himself originally rather than taking from someone else, and he used him in major moments of the show. I recall him having a big role against weevil and finishing him off, and he was the monster that would have defeated Marik if not for the shadow realm.
Joey's entire deck is about putting together a scappy mix of monsters he likes, usually warriors, and cards he's earned through his long journey as a duelist. I consider all the Battle City cards to be his secondary aces because they represent his character arc throughout the series.
I appreciate that Joey actually used the cards that he won/ were given to him especially in Battle City were the ante rule was only ever brought up with the God Cards and with Joey’s duels really under used concept
Tbf his deck was hot garbage. He lost Red Eyes and then in my headcanon I'd like to believe that Kaiba told him he couldn't keep using a fusion monsters (Flame Swordsman and Giltia the Knight) as a regular monsters. Basically he was the one character that desperately needed to improve his deck. Also I haven't watched the anime in a long time, BUT I do remember that Kaiba did show us a monster he won even though he didn't use it a duel. Basically they never showed him take it, but apparently Kaiba did grab Des Gardius from the rare hunters. He used it so he could go first in the 4 way duel vs Yugi, Joey and Marik, but then had to remove it from his deck since that was the rule... I confident I'm remembering that right, but not 100%.

He didn't turn his back on E-Heroes really. Once he could see his cards again he merged his two decks and his final boss monster is even made by fusing both his Neo and his E-Heroes. It's just that we didn't get the final arc.

In a way gandora is not only yugi’s potential but a chaotic entity that yugi has contain through the strength of his character.
In spite of having a higher attack power than Neos and Flame wingman, I'd say Edgeman (Blade Edge) was rather Jaden's secret ace that he never uses in pinched situations unless he has Wildman at the same time. That piercing damage effect of Edgeman can do a game changer in early times. So sad that the story didn't go much using him before Neos appeared and is only limited to fusing with Wildman (correct me if I'm wrong here)
Honestly, it's a real shame that Jaden's "Flame Wingman" started appearing less and less by seasons 3 and 4, because that was the monster that got me into Yugioh personally. Even to this day I will still try to incorporate "Flame Wingman" in a HERO deck and I'll always find myself watching a duel with Flame Wingman over duels with Neos (not that I hated Neos at all, because I do find uses for him in non-Neos related HERO decks too). Though in terms of Jaden's second ace, you could make the argument that "Winged Kuriboh" could also have been counted as a secondary ace for Jaden alongside "Flame Wingman", similar to how Yugi had "Dark Magician Girl" and "Kuriboh", since Jaden used "Winged Kuriboh" a lot as well, and sadly suffered the same fate usage wise like "Flame Wingman" in the anime when it came to duels.
I know it’s not a monster but for Joey I find that Graverobber works as an ace card it won two duels and help big time in another(maybe there’s more I can’t remember), also funny thing about Kuribo it’s the only monster beside Dark Magician to appear pass Duelist Kingdom in the manga anyway

With Shinning Neos Wingman released this year, you can get the best of both monsters. It feels a natural fusion to happen. With Vrains, I saw a very compelling argument on Tumblr, that Transcode Talker would be a good card to associate with Playmaker. He got it at the end of season 1 and used it at every season end in his duels.
Yea I know Neos is "technically" the ace, but I think people associate flame wingman a lot more. It would be like if yugi didnt get dark magician until near the end of the show and you tried to act like it was the ace. Dark Magician is the ace because he always used it.

Yeah it sucks how Firewall Dragon was supposed to be Yusaku's primary ace monster but due to the fact that it got limited and later banned, Konami had no choice but to upgrade Decode Talker, which was Yusaku's secondary ace, into the main ace. But ironically enough now that Firewall got unbanned Konami started advertising it his ace monster again, so I guess he has 2 aces?
Me too, wish its invincible mode was better though. Like once per turn it could nullify its removal from the field or something like that; and that the attack point decrease was more and permanent

the problem i have with joey losing red eyes black dragon is that in battle city he basically immediately got a card that was like red-eyes but better. jinzo in the manga was just like jinzo in the anime, except he was level 7 instead of level 6, so joey lost a level 7 dark monster with 2400 atk and then immediately won a level 7 dark monster with 2400 atk who was just better than red-eyes, the only thing red-eyes had was red-eyes had better defense but jinzo had a really good effect to counter that. also joey should of won barrel dragon from bandit keith.

Ironically, from what I've heard, crow wasn't even *supposed* to be a signer (or get black-winged dragon by extension); originally he was supposed to be a dark signer, but due to the popularity of the blackwing deck in the card game (partially due to crow), they changed the story to put a spotlight on the signature blackwing user

Well, Zorc (The ring worked differently in the manga apparently).
As a secondary monster, I always associated the Panther Warrior with Joey, even he didn't use it very often. There is also Gilford the Lightning, whose effect is better than Time Wizard but harder to summon. And there are also the scapegoats, which are tokens but could count on his kuriboh.

Armageddon is the first Bossmonster of a rival, that is a literal failure in card form. Because the original artificial Pendulum monsters were unstable and crashed solid vision. But D/D/D stands for Different Dimension Demon. That's why you see the D.D. King guy in some of the artworks of the D/D traps. He is desperately trying to find a strategy to beat them. I gope we get D.D. Support covering that lore.

Flame swordsman is such a badass monster easily my top 10 favorite designs! Such a shame that we didn’t get a massive deck built around it and massive upgrades to the card.
To me flame wingman will always be the main ace. Jaden didn't even get neos (back) until season 2. He wasn't using him for most of his life. Wingman looks cooler, sounds cooler, is a fusion monster which was the mechanic which Jaden focused on and they revamped during those years, it shows the strength in friends as you take two weak monsters and it becomes a great monster just like with the power of friendship you can do anything troupe that Jaden talks about all the time. Yeah neos can do that for a turn. We learned the heros as well learned about Jaden. Yeah neos and friends came in not even halfway through the series, but we already knew judai for so long at that point. Same way how it felt kinda weird how yugi out of nowhere starts using different cards than atem would have used. Like okay it makes sense and they are cool and all, but the entire time we knew you, you didn't use these

100% joeys secondary ace is gilford because it’s the ace of his secondary deck type Warriors, it’s gotten a remaster and it’s the fusion and ritual link between his first deck type red-eyes/dragons deck it’s his equivalent of yugi’s Gaia which 100% should be yamis secondary ace because it is literally his decks second ace and combo peice with so much curse of dragon, fusion and ritual support for it and black luster solider ❤
One Secondary Ace that got replaced... apparently SUMMONED SKULL qualifies. Apparently, he was Yugi's origional ace in the manga. Yugi didn't get and start using Dark Magician until he inherited Grandpa's deck (which was episode 1 in the anime). And hey, what's Summoned Skull's ATK? 2500. Bam, main character ace confirmed!

I know it’s not a monster but for Joey I find that Graverobber works as an ace card it won two duels and help big time in another(maybe there’s more I can’t remember), also funny thing about Kuribo it’s the only monster beside Dark Magician to appear pass Duelist Kingdom in the manga anyway

Back when I was younger, I always wanted to get Egyptian God Cards, whether be Slifer, Obelisk, and/or Winged Dragon of Ra. I never could, but I wish I would.

Flame Wingman is even referred to as Jaden’s favorite hero in a card name.
In Jaden's last duel against professor crowler Jaden says to Flamewingman "You still are my Favorite hero" as flamewingman wins the duel the same way he did in the first episode.
Jaden/Judai stated that Flame Wingman is his favorite monster and Neos is his Ace Monster.
I genuinely love the junk monsters. They're underdogs with great effects
With Shinning Neos Wingman released this year, you can get the best of both monsters. It feels a natural fusion to happen.
With Vrains, I saw a very compelling argument on Tumblr, that Transcode Talker would be a good card to associate with Playmaker. He got it at the end of season 1 and used it at every season end in his duels.

Yea I know Neos is "technically" the ace, but I think people associate flame wingman a lot more. It would be like if yugi didnt get dark magician until near the end of the show and you tried to act like it was the ace. Dark Magician is the ace because he always used it.

I just realized why obelisk is considered the best form in Duel Academy.
Kaiba opened it, he has obelisk so of course it’s top tier. Slifer was used by Yugi, kaiba hates him so it’s bottom.

Yeah it sucks how Firewall Dragon was supposed to be Yusaku's primary ace monster but due to the fact that it got limited and later banned, Konami had no choice but to upgrade Decode Talker, which was Yusaku's secondary ace, into the main ace. But ironically enough now that Firewall got unbanned Konami started advertising it his ace monster again, so I guess he has 2 aces?

the problem i have with joey losing red eyes black dragon is that in battle city he basically immediately got a card that was like red-eyes but better. jinzo in the manga was just like jinzo in the anime, except he was level 7 instead of level 6, so joey lost a level 7 dark monster with 2400 atk and then immediately won a level 7 dark monster with 2400 atk who was just better than red-eyes, the only thing red-eyes had was red-eyes had better defense but jinzo had a really good effect to counter that.
also joey should of won barrel dragon from bandit keith.

Ironically, from what I've heard, crow wasn't even *supposed* to be a signer (or get black-winged dragon by extension); originally he was supposed to be a dark signer, but due to the popularity of the blackwing deck in the card game (partially due to crow), they changed the story to put a spotlight on the signature blackwing user
This also sidelined Akiza and interfered the setup of Leo's Life Stream Dragon.

and is not helped that, because akiza's seiyuu was apparently gonna get married, akiza would have been sidelined for one reason or the other, either temporally or basically permanently like happened in our time

20:55 Well that's because she's Mana in the form of a duel spirit, just as much as Yugi's Dark Magician is Mahad (even though his Palladium Oracle Mahad is somehow also Mahad) and one of Seto's Blue-Eyes White Dragons is Kisara (specifically the one he used against Ishizu, pretty much the only time you could single her out among the three) and Yami Bakura's Dark Master Zorc RPG game piece in the Millennium Enemy arc is... Well, Zorc (The ring worked differently in the manga apparently).

Actually D.D and D/D/D are related. Even though their effect doesn't work together but D/D Spell/Trap cards show a lot of D.D monsters in the artwork.

As a secondary monster, I always associated the Panther Warrior with Joey, even he didn't use it very often. There is also Gilford the Lightning, whose effect is better than Time Wizard but harder to summon.
And there are also the scapegoats, which are tokens but could count on his kuriboh.

Because the original artificial Pendulum monsters were unstable and crashed solid vision.
But D/D/D stands for Different Dimension Demon.
That's why you see the D.D. King guy in some of the artworks of the D/D traps. He is desperately trying to find a strategy to beat them. I gope we get D.D. Support covering that lore.

To me flame wingman will always be the main ace. Jaden didn't even get neos (back) until season 2. He wasn't using him for most of his life. Wingman looks cooler, sounds cooler, is a fusion monster which was the mechanic which Jaden focused on and they revamped during those years, it shows the strength in friends as you take two weak monsters and it becomes a great monster just like with the power of friendship you can do anything troupe that Jaden talks about all the time. Yeah neos can do that for a turn. We learned the heros as well learned about Jaden. Yeah neos and friends came in not even halfway through the series, but we already knew judai for so long at that point. Same way how it felt kinda weird how yugi out of nowhere starts using different cards than atem would have used. Like okay it makes sense and they are cool and all, but the entire time we knew you, you didn't use these

Apparently, he was Yugi's origional ace in the manga. Yugi didn't get and start using Dark Magician until he inherited Grandpa's deck (which was episode 1 in the anime). And hey, what's Summoned Skull's ATK? 2500. Bam, main character ace confirmed!

also 30:46 this image is interesting because this is what time wizard is supposed to look like. in the manga, time wizard doesn't have a face. it's just floating eyes and floating clock hands. the blue and yellow face that you see on the card art was a mistake and the blue on top was supposed to be his cape that you see through the ring that is his body. if you look at the bandai time wizard card you can see it better. also any image of time wizard from the manga conveys this
