  • Fox 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is watching Tropical Storm Ian closely. As of Sunday morning, Tropical Storm Ian had top winds of 50 miles per hour and was moving west-northwest at 12 miles per hour.
Ian is expected to intensify rapidly and Sadiku says it could become a category 1 hurricane by late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
According to Sadiku, the entire west coast of Florida is fair game for a hurricane landfall next week.
He advises residents to get prepared now, so those plans can be implemented when there is a better idea of where the storm will hit.
Get your tropical weather forecast each day during hurricane season from the meteorologists at FOX 13 Tampa Bay and MyFoxHurricane. We'll issue a new hurricane update each day, and more frequently when needed.

Really good presentation. He mentions all the important variables particularly the divergent approach currently with the two major models ECM and GFS. Either way with the worst impacts of any hurricane concentrated on the eastern side of the circular flow, this is a really bad track for the west coast of Florida, with the very latest tracking suggesting Fort Myers to Tampa in the firing line.

I really hate the uncertainty of Ian. I have been through the worst of the worst in cat 5s on the islands and south Florida costing both life and property as well as every other catagory. It's a total shame with advancement in technology today regarding Hurricaynes are concern that civilization is facing unpredictability once again . West coast of Florida does not have the required building codes that the east Florida coast has today. Where the east coast can handle a cat 4 direct now of days, the west coast unfortunately can not barely if any get past a cat three safety . This storm should not be a guessing game at all.

Hey all, When I was watching Irma, I realized Florida gets this EVERY YEAR! If I lived where my home was going to be threatened or literally destroyed once a year; I'd think I'd be smart enough to move. Then I realized, every year they get demolished somewhere and then apply for emergency government help at the expense of the taxpayers. This is theft. It is taking taxpayer money to rebuild something that will be most certainty reined in a year. I have a cabin, I live near a major river- if that river threatened to flood my cabin every year; my brain might kick in and say; maybe we better move to a safer place and higher ground. Florida isn't worth this. I have no NO NO NO sympathy for anyone who stays and gets demolished. NONE

I knew it. It was never coming to Florida! It was obvious it was going to the Gulf of Mexico. I have lived in Miami for 55 years and seeing the map you could tell it wasn't coming this way. They run WNW.

Last thing Florida needs is a hurricane? Why? Other than the disaster it will cause, just think of how the insurance companies have treated you folks. Many LEFT Florida. No telling what they would do after this one hits.

Tropical storm 91N it would be wonderful if you could just deport de Santis or atleast his home straight to the middle of the ocean.. category 5 when it gets to de Santis home hopefully.. imagine it was his and only his home that got relocated.. a message from god..

A damaging thing such as a hurricane does not “looks better”, guess you meant “looks more organized”?

Calling it a hurricane before it is. Saying the entire state of Florida is a disaster area before it makes landfall. Ridiculous guesses as to where landfall will occur. Keep Floridians in a state of high anxiety. Fear-mongering at its best.

Im predicting landfall west of Pensacola as a minimal Category 2.
