Had someone ask why the rods were taken off, it was something I didn't consider when editing. It was QRs decision to pull of the intermediate connecting rods, eccentric crank, eccentric rod and main rod for ultrasonic testing.
If the loco is not in steam it will not be getting cylinder lube either. The WAGR S class was towed to Dowerin from Perth for operation out of Dowerin for a weekend. It was towed in steam with only a small throttle setting simply for lubrication. If I were towing a dead steamer I would take off the con rods ( with return crank) . The other rods still need lubing as normal but the pistons or valves won’t be moving.
That was the case when QR delivered it too Warwick. Only the main rod and eccentric rod was pulled off when 974 was transferred from Gympie to Ipswich. The intermediates were taken off the yank due to the derailment.
Big fan of the S118s as a whole and occasionally do a quick google to see what 221A is up to since i'm in the states. Sad to hear about what has happened but accidents to happen and hopefully things will be sorted sooner rather than later.
Kyle , you need to give some info on what was going on i the video. Did the loco derail on the turnout or break down? This will help stop a lot of speculation and guessing. Cheers Gregg.
@@kylegleeson8638 I understand mate. I work on turnouts everyday, and they can be tricky at times. Old track work is always an issue when it comes to switches. No injuries , only a bit of pride , so all good. Gregg 🙂
@@albyabsent9125 Arrived home this arvy would like to have gotten the Mcgregor charter from Wallangarra. RSU training put an end to that. Went round no troubles on the training run.

@@paul1089 Seen her this evening, it was crap not seeing it under steam

Great video mate , love it
Thanks Mark, are you headed to Goondi?
@@kylegleeson8638 can’t make it this time
But we will be heading that way next week
Ahh well, will have to catch up next time I'm down here
@@kylegleeson8638 will do, I’ll email you to see where you are
I think I saw you chasing the Warwick to Goondiwindi train on the 29th April. I was the one in the red jumper.
In the utility, get some good footage?
Yeah I did! I look forward to seeing yours when you upload it!
So am I. Bit of a delay left my SD card at Goondi, organised for it to be posted up
Should be more steam running.
It wouldn't be special if it was a common occurrence
