How to Find Earth in the Universe

[Do not remember heroes.
Do not speak their names.
Remember my words, but do not speak my name.
I have a vision of a Galaxy overrun by mankind from Core to rim.
Of four hundred billion stars each enslaved to the rhythms of Earth’s day, Earth’s year.
I have a vision of a trillion planets pulsing to the beat of a human heart.
And I have a vision of a child.
Who will grow up knowing neither family nor comfort.
Who will not be distracted by the illusion of a long life.
Who will know nothing but honor and duty.
Who will die joyously for the sake of mankind.
That is a hero.
And I will never know her name.
Always remember: a brief life burns brightly."

This is somehow so conforting
I know 99,99999999% well for a fact that I'll never be in a situation where this is useful, but just the fact that there's conscious life out there that somehow knows how to arrive to Earth from outer space is very calming, like finding a guide in the middle of the jungle
100%. Cause never happening
@hi-zn9bb No one knows broddy maybe I'm a Saiyan sent to Earth to conquer the world and I still don't know cause I've never hit the gym
@hi-zn9bb he knows it's "never happening" and he said so. He chose to say that he knows it "99.999999%" because deep down he doesn't want to admit it. Beautiful way to write about a delusion that you know you have but you'd rather keep so that you don't have to face the cold hard truth even though you're fully aware of it 🙂.
Well at least that's my understanding.

@@samuelluc132 Exactly.
Although I don't think it's impossible, just impossible for *me* because of the place and time I was born. You know how supposedly faster than light travel is theoretically possible but we don't have the technology to make it possible? Kinda sorta like that

The chance of life forming by itself is so low that it would be a miracle to have life occurring twice in the universe

@frostyf27you don’t know how big the universe is. Yes life is a big miracle to form in a planet but compared to the vastness of space theres bound to be tons of life forms
@AussieGuy-qb8mh the chance of a minimally complex cell to form just by chance is ~ 1 in 10^41000 while there are only ~10^25 planets that orbit stars, with some ~10^26-10^30 additional starless planets.
The cell is way way wayyy more complex than we usually think
I can’t believe you doxxed Earth.
mapping out this stuff in your head must be so hard, i occasionally go on space engine and its really hard to navigate, its not like working with a map because its in 3D and down is constantly changing
There are no north, south, east, west direction in space. Just relative points between two cosmic objects.

I love these videos they make us feel so small and insignificant
this was actually pretty cool! thanks, man
Fun fact: in this video the camera has moved much more light years than humanity will ever be able too.
From the starting point of the video, even if the Earth was still a proto planet way before it had life on it, by the time the camera arrived on Earth, humans would've likely been long extinct and replaced by another civilization.
Isaac Arthur would disagree with that one haha
Thank you so much, I was lost in space, this helped me get back to Earth

Coming from interplanetary space, this is a life saver!! I couldn't tell you how many years I was stuck out there 😅
While watching this video, I find it analogous to how we watch bacteria or find a specific type of WBC under a microscope. Literally how microscopic we are compared to the scale of the whole universe.

this is amazing. just... wow
Such as shame we don't have this video in the golden record in Voyager 1. If aliens took the satelite, they can see the video and know we exists.
Would be neat, but we are sending radio waves out into space in every direction at the speed of light. Hopefully those do the trick… or not if the aliens aren’t nice.
by the way bro, I can see the effort you put into post-production by editing it so the visual cues appear relative to objects, it seriously look like they're in-game by how pixel and frame perfect the smoothness is. The only way I know this is because how much of a pain it'd be to program it inside Space Engine itself. I sincerely appreciate the grind, it looks great and you did a good job.
Thanks! You’re right, all added in post.
Thanks man! You never know when you will get lost in space
this is seriously impressive.. idk if there's some trick to this or if you just have this awesome spatial understanding of the universe, but you're a total wizard if so
The trick is just knowing the right stars to hop to and from! It’s really just Orion to Pleiades to Hyades to Aldebaran to Sirius to our Sun. Finding our galaxy cluster is a big tougher.
Imagine if our local cluster of galaxies were considered the "backwaters" neighbourhood of the intergalatic network which is why we never get visited by aliens...
Imagine if there is a section of space where there are actually more planets with life that are literally next door to each other, an intergalactic version of a metropolis city...
yeah I always wonder how it would be like if we lived in a star system that had multiple planets with life on them... imagine if at the turn of the 20th century we had discovered that mars was actually populated by canal loving aliens and venus was full of tropical forests and strange tribes... I'd bet we would either be conquering those planets right now or they would be conquering us. I have a feeling that if we found out that there was habitable planets and wealth on mars or venus, there would have been a massive push for rockets that could deliver people and equipment there by one major power that would have soon led to others also scrambling towards that goal. Our own atmosphere would probably be getting cooked by the amount of rocket launches each day.
The universe is so big. It's absolutely incredible.
Thanks to you my friend Glorparz was able to get back to Earth
It's actually amazing to see this web-like structure of the universe with galactic filaments

A stone thought I had many moons ago: what if when we die, our spirit is no longer bound by gravity, and we get left behind Sol's path at some Ludacris speed. Imagine trying to find your way back to earth.
This video is cute b/c you already know where certains things were relative to you. I think realistically you'd never find your way back even if you got as close as Sirius. Any further, good luck. Not to mention how many billions of years would have gone by on Earth as you travelled.
Well, Sirius is only 8 ly away, and the only G type stars nearby it are Alpha Centauri A and the Sun, so it's pretty easy to find Earth from there. In fact, locating Sirius is usually the last step in locating Earth, since it's the biggest, brightest star in the immediate stellar neighborhood
@@Christianos_Theophile on paper sure. In practicality? Nah, I doubt it.
Well, I assume the spirit is no longer bound by the laws of relativity, so it can go way faster than light without any time dilation. So if you DO make it back to Earth, it may not be much time passed.
Very important info for the year 4789. Thank you for helping future space traveling crews.

So I just tried this and it was quite fun! The hardest part was definitely finding the Coma Cluster. I had to turn procedural galaxies off and turn my magnitude limit way up. And even then I had to heavily rely on looking up the names of the galaxies I selected to see if I had the correct cluster or not. The rest of the process was relatively straight forward. Even finding Orion's belt wasn't that hard. I will definitely learn this route and re-try it with less helps.
