The reason iphone footage might be on par is because the user of the big heavy equipment doesn't know how to use it, or they cheaped out on the lens, or the YT algorithm sucked the detail out, or maybe Tom is viewing everything on a small phone screen so can't tell the difference anyway.

That Canon guy should probably get over his FF obsession and get an R7. Brilliant 4K Fine video downsampled from 6K; 32 MP; custom video modes, unlike the R6; unlimited video without overheating; an overheat meter "just in case"; very good image quality; and he can use his current lenses and get more reach for wildlife. I agree with Mr. Tom Ripley’s comments, because Mr. Ripley was Talented and took over other people’s life and identities without having much knowledge or understanding of anything himself. I also agree that filmmakers should be banned from using high grade cameras. Film students also should be prohibited from using any equipment other than iPhone and must delegate frame rate control to Apple AI. Lastly, the use and possession of any cameras or phones other than iPhone should be criminalized federally, because I’m too dumb to understand the use case for specific camera features with manual control.

Kasey, the GoPro Volta handle (which doubles mini-tripod and battery handle) has a pop-out Gopro mount built into the side, so you can actually attach a backpack strap clip-mount to the Volta handle. In that configuration, you can actually use the Gopro while attached to the backpack strap, easily unclip it and use it from the battery handle, or in tripod mode - without removing any hardware. The only shortcoming is that the Volta doesn't have any built-in extension (though it does have a 1/4-20 on the bottom so you COULD attach the whole thing to a selfie-stick if you needed to).
hi, I have a sony A7C, I am think about change to FX30. now I do some videos. The color of slow motion that A7C did is not so good. So I want to change. What do you think about this idea?
He doesn't need to review anything. Scrubs: Pentax KM with Super Takumar lenses (Radioactivity is fun kids) Middle Class: Bessa R if you're a billionaire then just buy a Leica M6 and all the lenses to be done with it.
You should make a video about the typical smartphone users complaining about editing. I realized very fast within the last months if i am doing basic editing of raw files, playing around with clog footage for color grading etc, The average smartphone "photo/videographer" really think to complain about "why do you need to edit it", "it looks great already", "show the unedited reality".... meanwhile they have the most plastic, artificial, comic looking images. And little bit oversaturation never hurts wildlife images.
I switched btw from RP to R7 after also testing R6 and once the R5 in my hands. Now its just the question .... 2nd hand Sigma 150-600 (the thing i tend to) or a new RF 100-400 as complementary to the RF 800 which is cancerous for many cases with 1280mm. I really like full frame in overall, but especially for partially video needs - full frame is not affordable yet for me (but for photography the RP i absolutely enjoyed the most (also better than R5 and R6!)
Tom is right. Only few REALLY need the back breaking gear. For the rest of us, life is fake. Read the comments sometimes. I do have a CC t-shirt that will shield me from any shade tossed below this reply.
Nobody needs almost anything. But some people are convinced that they need some photo/video to be made in a certain way or quality and some people want to fulfill those wishes. Sometimes these two meet in the same person.
A used A7 III or New Fuji X-T30 II? Price difference is about 250 EUR in my area (quite small and feel stupid for considering aps-c no matter how good it is). I already have a couple of Sony full frame lenses. As for Fujifilm I will be left hunting for those with IBIS with exuberant pricing and still have a crop frame no matter how good it is. I also like that you can save a lot of time by presetting the image outcome instead of getting stuck in RAW editing. I am totally out of focus and need your guidance as a third party, because I have no friends who would be interested in cameras.
Hello friend, Since you have the lenses you should clearly get the A7 III. Sometimes you can get Fuji cameras for cheap, but I see no reason to fork out for a new X-T30.
Hello if you use Premier Pro and you not using mics already wireless etc but externally then load the audio on computer import the pro and approximately line it up with video footage make sure voice is audible on video right click big box one option is sync or something similar
Wow -- you are right!!! In fact I am so much like an ambulance, that every time I take a picture I say, "Weeeeee-Ooooooo-Weeeeee-Ooooooo" -- for some reason this does seem to chase away animals....
Holy Hell, Man! Have you Seen the new Sony FX30 Super 35?!?! It's got one hell of a package, Checks a crazy number of boxes - & comes in at a surprisingly reasonable price point. (relative to what you get anyway) At least for my needs - & I can 100% live w/o the stills - (i've got an old-ish EOS T5 when I wanna anyway - & it shoots 1080pRAW - PLENTY good enough for B-roll for the likes of me. NOW - I just need to pull together 3 or 4 G's - so I can get the fkr & outfit it properly =) ugh STILL no 950FPS tho ;/ That super slow mo on your phone is crazy cool. My new phone better do that shya*. I'monna go loook up whether it does or not rn. Cheers
Cellphones do not have The adjustment or control Over image a real Cam 🎥 Does. The Choices of lenses are Many. Frame rate. Fstops You can adjust and filter to your wallets empty. With adapters can use Cine Primes, shoot at 24fps and can’t tell the difference from Real Film without the Cost of. Audio another variable cells can’t do as well. Are you editing on Mac or Pc? I started on PC And frequently got the blue death screen while editing and rendering. Mac solved that and still managed to crash, But very seldom. By now maybe that is no longer an issue. That was in the Early days. Data Storage was Expensive before Gig and absolutely no Terra Drives. It’s been an interesting ride. The Tech is indistinguishable From Magic Voodoo
The humanitarian aid in Africa question person should sell their gear and donate towards digging a hundred wells with the money. This might have been the veiled point of them asking for advice.
I'm frankly amazed that people are asking this guy for advice. I'm not sure if I've ever seen any decent footage from him. I just watch occasionally for the entertainment factor. If I was looking for advice on getting good images, I'd ask someone else.
@@memcrew1 someone posting footage that looks good. I’m not currently in the market for a camera so I don’t have a suggestion. It would probably depend on the specific cameras I was interested in.
Most UA-camrs dare not say anything bad or the manufacturers might not give them early access to new releases. Our boi here lives the UA-camr hobo life where they don't give him shit early so he calls out the B.S as he sees it.
@@Kenriko No, they buy these lenses and even in private messages I got information that ibis has nothing to do with lens as it’s in the camera - I sold my tamron 17-28 immediately when I tried the Sony 20 the difference was so big but I cannot share this experience with anyone else so I feel like was I crazy
It's definitely a thing. First noticed it when the Laowa 15mm f2 didn't work with Catalyst Browse. Then I noticed the Tamron 17-28mm looked much worse than the Sony 20mm f1.8 with active stabe. Then the Tamron 18-300mm being completely unusable on the Fuji XT4, where the Fuji 70-300mm was rock solid. Maybe there are some combinations that work well, but not all. It's especially bad when using lens OIS with IBIS in some systems where they don't communicate, and using digital stabe like Sony's active stabe.
@@cameraconspiracies Yes, I’ve observed it when I was shooting Skate clips - it didnt stick to person with tamron 17-28, I saw big difference with Sony 85, 35, 20. Same with vlogging - tamron 17-28 and Sony 20 was big difference - but when I say it to others even the big names they say its not there - i feel like crazy 🤘
I am always looking at what new tech is on the horizon. I give it a few months to see if the itch goes away. It usually does. Totally unrelated - I was filming a video about timecode the other day near a river and a beautiful blue heron parked itself about 100 yds away. Of course, I have the Sony 70-200 mkii with 2X teleconverter, but left it at home because I didn't think I'd use it. All I could think of was how "cinematic" Casey would have made it, even from that distance 🤣🤣 Video coming soon...
I was so hopeful with the RF 100-500 lens for wildlife but then I saw all the reviews the only advantages it has ove Sony 200-600 are stabe and light weight. It is a lesser lens in all other regards that also severely more expensive than Sony's lens. I can only wonder how bad that RF 100-400 is going to be.
I don't know whose reviews you've seen. I follow several wildlife UA-cam shooters who love their 100-500 (Jan Wegener, Brett Hall to name two). I have one and also love it. It is very expensive though, like all the Canon RF "L" lenses.
@@JohnDrummondPhoto yes sir, I agree that many people love these lens but I will give you my reasons why I am disappointed. 1. The price compared to 200-600 2. Despite high price you get lower aperture at the super telephoto ends that matters most in wildlife 3. The Ibis is fantastic for tripod video shots but for tracking shots it does those catching ups which I personally really don't like 4. Jan Wegener himself confirmed that this lens is above average with a teleconverter but if it is dark you know it can and will completely fall apart. Sony 200-600 coupled with a7Siii's low light can make even toughest conditions acceptable in video 5. Despite lower price Sony lens is absolutely fantastic with teleconverters and also it is really good at tracking stabilization (though pretty average in tripod mode) 6. Value: the ridiculous price cannot justify such slow lens in challenging lighting and that bad tracking Ibis 7. Only Canon R3 has compelling 4k 120 all other Canon cameras are ridiculous compromises coupled with a7Siii, a1 and a7iv the 200-600 is super sharp and also possesses a little 3d pop 8. You add up everything and than add 100mm less reach Yeah I expect more from Canon.
@@kapilesh14 points 4 and 7 are about the body, much more than the lens. From my own experience, the 100-500 tracks BIF fine and pans smoothly with minimal jerking. I can't speak for the Sony, not having used it. Max aperture at the long end? The Sony 200-600 is F/6.3 vs the Canon at F/7.1. That's 1/3 of a stop, a minimal difference IMO. At the short end (100mm vs 200mm), the Canon is F/4.5 vs F/5.6, about a 2/3 stop advantage for the Canon. Overall it's a wash IMO. Both lenses need decent light compared to a fast prime like a 500mm F/4. I know I can't afford that, and I'm guessing you can't either. Then there's close focusing, a big edge for the Canon. The Sony's minimum focus distance is 2.4m at 0.2x magnification. The Canon can focus at 90cm with 0.33x magnification. I've shot bees and butterflies with it. As you mentioned, the Canon is much smaller and lighter and Canon's IS is better, all of which are pretty big advantages if you prefer to walk around and handhold. I do wish that the tripod mount had built-in Arca-Swiss grooves. One more ergonomic edge for the Canon: the 77mm filter thread. I already had filters to fit it. Prepare to dig deep in your pocket for a 95mm polarizing filter for that Sony. All that said: both lenses are fantastic pieces of glass with their individual strengths and liabilities. I shoot a lot of landscape as well as wildlife. The 100-500 has replaced my 70-200 because it's more versatile and fits right behind my RF 24-105 F4L in focal length range. We each have to make choices that are best for oneself.
@@JohnDrummondPhoto For your last point I disagree, I am one of those great lust for gear person and I am only attracted to Sony and Canon stuff. For now I started with Sony but I see a future when I am able to run both systems. I didn't know that teleconverters thing was because of the camera, I always thought that lens is playing its part in it. I thought 200-600 massive front lens element is the reason for fantastic teleconverter performance. I heard many pros talking about fitting the teleconverter to F4 and f2.8 telephoto primes for better results. I think that 100-500 is more of a competition to 100-400 gm as they both are similar in price, autofocus performances and MFD. So I am not bothered too much with the minimum focusing distance on 200-600. I do agree with your point of 100-500 being absolutely amazing for wildlife coupled with landscape and in sports as well. Lastly, I really like 200-600 more because of the 1.4x teleconverter performance with 1.1 crop on a7Siii which makes it 924mm with absolutely fantastic all i 4k 120. I do see the future though where I have both a7siii + 200-600 and Canon R6 mark ii (Current R6 is not good enough and R5 is really not good in high frame rates) with RF L 100-500.
action 2 and 3 are the same camera as far as specs. the action 2 is actually a great camera that is really misunderstood. Probably the only thing I wish for the two would be better battery life but carry an external battery pack and your good. When it comes to form factor and portability the action two is awesome.
I was happy with my phone until you said I needed an iphone 7, now I feel a need to upgrade my iphone 6s....... Atleast that is what I will tell myself as I click the order button on the gh6.
A first for me: I nearly didn’t make it to the end of this CC vid because of the drainpipe audio effects. Is that seriously as good as the Oly gets with audio?
Kasey, to get hiss free audio from the E-M5 MkIII ensure you have the inbuilt mic set to -10. (Menu, Movie, On, Recording Volume, Built-In -10). I shoot with a Deity Lav mic and a Deity D4 Duo shotgun mic and get good quality audio.
What? Fiance???? When did I miss the change from girlfriend to fiance???? Congrats!!!!!! Who is doing the video/photos for your wedding????? Tony and Chelsea? Fro?
I've been recording for 1 year with a cheap smartphone. I guarantee, when I upgrade to the FX30 + Sigma 16mm + 30mm, the channel will look so much better & professional. Admit it, you hobo!
My dude. Please DO NOT slap a 3rd party lens on that camera. Suck it up and buy the 15mm 1.4 G (Yeah it's $750 but remember the suckers who paid $2500 for a A7IV without a lens)
@@Kobrar44 Autofocus is not nearly as good on the 3rd party lenses. Yes they are cheaper but who cares when you miss the magical shot because your lens took an extra 500ms to focus. I will use vintage manual focus lenses before stooping to the level of the 3rd party lens hobos.
I am leaving in Africa ... I hate humanitarian cinemayonnaise colors. Would like a black and white phone. What is the best way to get good audio with phone?
Nobody who watches content on UA-cam cares about the camera. It’s only when you start making some content that you get sucked into the rabbit hole of gear. The more content I make the less I care about the camera. My best performing video is a vlog recorded on a dji osmo action 1 with a 30$ external mic. The holy grail for me would be an action camera with a 1” sensor and f1.8 or f2 just because I’m often outside in low light.
The guy with the question about getting a micro 4/3 and a 600mm ish range. Why not just get a XT4 + the new 150-600mm? Better colours than Panasonic, also sync stabe and way expensive. That's the camera way no?
I love your channel and I do not miss any video of yours, but honestly, I vastly prefer your creative wildlife videos...these rants and random insults are getting quite tiresome...

hi, I have a sony A7C, I am think about change to FX30. now I do some videos. The color of slow motion that A7C did is not so good. So I want to change. What do you think about this idea?
Can you use you HUAWEI phone as a phone in Canada? I don't think it works with US carriers. Or do you just use it as a camera?
Hey Kaysee, I dare you to review a 35mm film camera.
Using Monkey Strength I reckon he’d be able to wind on at 24fps and make a very short movie.
He doesn't need to review anything.

if you're a billionaire then just buy a Leica M6 and all the lenses to be done with it.
Sir, this is a video channel.
What lens are you using with the Olympus?
You talking about Chloe from Viltrox. Still waiting to hear back from her too!!
You should make a video about the typical smartphone users complaining about editing.
I realized very fast within the last months if i am doing basic editing of raw files, playing around with clog footage for color grading etc,
The average smartphone "photo/videographer" really think to complain about "why do you need to edit it", "it looks great already", "show the unedited reality".... meanwhile they have the most plastic, artificial, comic looking images.
I'm happy to stay with my GH5, minor focusing problems but rest is great 😁
The storage unit vlog 😊
If only the 75-300 actually zoomed to 600. I do like the crop sensors but alas, it's only the crop.
Mr Ripley right tho iPhone has advanced ai computational capabilities including augmented box fan mode
You should test the new Sony lenses.
I feel attacked. I used an iPhone 7 for my UA-cam channel up until last year…. Now I use a 12 🤣
A used A7 III or New Fuji X-T30 II? Price difference is about 250 EUR in my area (quite small and feel stupid for considering aps-c no matter how good it is). I already have a couple of Sony full frame lenses. As for Fujifilm I will be left hunting for those with IBIS with exuberant pricing and still have a crop frame no matter how good it is. I also like that you can save a lot of time by presetting the image outcome instead of getting stuck in RAW editing. I am totally out of focus and need your guidance as a third party, because I have no friends who would be interested in cameras.
Why not FX 30?
Hello friend,
Since you have the lenses you should clearly get the A7 III. Sometimes you can get Fuji cameras for cheap, but I see no reason to fork out for a new X-T30.
A7 III, amazing camera.
sony rx100 vii has a mic jack
What do you use for external audio and how the hell do you sync it?!!
Hello if you use Premier Pro and you not using mics already wireless etc but externally then load the audio on computer import the pro and approximately line it up with video footage make sure voice is audible on video right click big box one option is sync or something similar
You bring joy to my BS life 😂😂😂
5:25 quote of the year 🤩
Wow -- you are right!!! In fact I am so much like an ambulance, that every time I take a picture I say, "Weeeeee-Ooooooo-Weeeeee-Ooooooo" -- for some reason this does seem to chase away animals....
When are you going to get some RF glass for that Canon R? I use the Canon R for wildlife and automotive photography/video.
Holy Hell, Man!
Have you Seen the new Sony FX30 Super 35?!?!
It's got one hell of a package, Checks a crazy number of boxes - & comes in at a surprisingly reasonable price point. (relative to what you get anyway)
At least for my needs - & I can 100% live w/o the stills - (i've got an old-ish EOS T5 when I wanna anyway - & it shoots 1080pRAW - PLENTY good enough for B-roll for the likes of me.
NOW - I just need to pull together 3 or 4 G's - so I can get the fkr & outfit it properly =)
ugh
STILL no 950FPS tho ;/
That super slow mo on your phone is crazy cool. My new phone better do that shya*.
I'monna go loook up whether it does or not rn.
Cheers

The humanitarian aid in Africa question person should sell their gear and donate towards digging a hundred wells with the money. This might have been the veiled point of them asking for advice.
"my fiancee's" - sorry to hear that
So what your saying is that the EOS R100 is just another T7i? gotcha
I'm frankly amazed that people are asking this guy for advice. I'm not sure if I've ever seen any decent footage from him. I just watch occasionally for the entertainment factor. If I was looking for advice on getting good images, I'd ask someone else.
Who would you ask?
@@memcrew1 someone posting footage that looks good. I’m not currently in the market for a camera so I don’t have a suggestion. It would probably depend on the specific cameras I was interested in.
@@user82938 oh, ok. ………Ppl tune in the CC for entertainment and usage experiences, not his expertise in image acquisition.
You are the only person who states that 3rd party lenses have ibis problems 🎉
Most UA-camrs dare not say anything bad or the manufacturers might not give them early access to new releases. Our boi here lives the UA-camr hobo life where they don't give him shit early so he calls out the B.S as he sees it.
@@Kenriko No, they buy these lenses and even in private messages I got information that ibis has nothing to do with lens as it’s in the camera - I sold my tamron 17-28 immediately when I tried the Sony 20 the difference was so big but I cannot share this experience with anyone else so I feel like was I crazy
One guy told me he shoots alll the time with sigma 100-400 and ibis works great
It's definitely a thing.

Canon can go pound sand in their walled garden of lenses.
1. The price compared to 200-600
2. Despite high price you get lower aperture at the super telephoto ends that matters most in wildlife
3. The Ibis is fantastic for tripod video shots but for tracking shots it does those catching ups which I personally really don't like
4. Jan Wegener himself confirmed that this lens is above average with a teleconverter but if it is dark you know it can and will completely fall apart. Sony 200-600 coupled with a7Siii's low light can make even toughest conditions acceptable in video
5. Despite lower price Sony lens is absolutely fantastic with teleconverters and also it is really good at tracking stabilization (though pretty average in tripod mode)
6. Value: the ridiculous price cannot justify such slow lens in challenging lighting and that bad tracking Ibis
7. Only Canon R3 has compelling 4k 120 all other Canon cameras are ridiculous compromises coupled with a7Siii, a1 and a7iv the 200-600 is super sharp and also possesses a little 3d pop
8. You add up everything and than add 100mm less reach
Yeah I expect more from Canon.
This one looks like you are back in Thailand
🤣 🤣 🤣 About my mama land! Blackmagic colous and robust would do too. I doubt sony can stand our heat
action 2 and 3 are the same camera as far as specs. the action 2 is actually a great camera that is really misunderstood.
I shot mostly my video on GoPro 9 even🤣 my highest view video still record on action camera
A first for me: I nearly didn’t make it to the end of this CC vid because of the drainpipe audio effects. Is that seriously as good as the Oly gets with audio?
Olympus Natural is best for me.

Sorry, but I'm about to sell all my cameras and just film on the iPhone. It's really good enough at this point, especially for social posts.
@@Kenriko what is wrong with the third party lenses? CC only mentiones OIS which these primes do not have iirc.

My R6 still overheats
