Thank you. I spent 20 minutes trying to locate the factory plastic (agitator) part with no success. I thought I might have to get a nail but the zip ties are a much better idea!
Clever! I just bought one second hand, and was told it worked good, but there's no pusher inside. 🤨 Didn't notice till I got home. Not happy, but I guess I can fix it this way. Thanks!
I do two passes but I cut the application in half so I'm not over applying. I'll apply in a grid pattern, so for example the first pass I'll go in an East-west back and forth and then second pass I'll do a North-South so everything gets even application but just set the spreader lower then it will not be applied at double rate. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
The Agitator - a part than can EAISLY fall out if spreader is turned upside down to empty or hose out etc - IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM SCOTTS!!!!!! They know it and your only alterative is to BUY a new 80-100 Dollar Spreader. Because of a 2 Dollar part they REFUSE to sell to customers. Buy another Brand like Agra Fab who sells replacement parts. Screw Scotts.
Thanks for the idea! I'm in the same boat with the disappearing agitator. Can't find a replacement anywhere. You saved me a lot of money!

If you love in cold weather and they keep breaking like mines which I use for salt too try radiator metal hose clamps
Salt is really hard on these spreaders, that's a great idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for the video
Those simple elegant solutions are the best. Maybe I might put a drop of epoxy on it.
Awesome idea thank you

Any tips for preventing striping with this not so quality spreader?

I agree, lessons learned on a commonly purchased spreader from any big box store that people buy as their first not knowing any better.
I stay away from SCOTTS as much as possible! Their fertilizers do more burning than any other
Guess who's first lol 😂
