I have the X739 with the snow blade and drive on deck. I love it. It’s a huge upgrade from the L120 I had for years. The L120 would get stuck all the time on my hilly property and it basically tore itself apart plowing. The X739 plows my driveway like a beast and doesn’t even need weights or chains. I can rip through my 1 acre yard in half the time, but I don’t see the high fuel burn that you do. The thing has a ton of power - enough to drag fallen trees. Also maintenance is easy: nice port to drain the oil, etc.
Nice work laying these out. I have a 2018 x739. 5 gallons/acre seems high. I am mowing 3-4 acres with some very steep areas and always get it done using under a tank (although barely sometimes). Strongly agree with your stability comments!
I bought my X739 Sep 24’ with 54” Auto Connect deck, 47” snowblower with quick connect and weather enclosure. I have an acre and it uses about the same amount of gas as my previous X584 with a 48” deck. I also have the Merit Engineering electric chute actuator. It is expensive, but it is awesome!!
Nice video! As a new X738 owner I agree with everything you said. Expensive, but worth it. Simple life rule: buy the best you can afford and you will usually be happy.
@@dustybooksdiy Just like in a 4WD car, you're using fuel to turn the extra shafts and wheels. Does the X739 have the ability to run in 2WD? Look how much distance electric cars lose from 2WD to 4WD.
@@mosfet500the 4 wheel drive is driven by the hydraulics, so I don't think you can bypass it. I have never looked that close to see if it's possible or not. I just keep putting gas in it!
I’ve had my X739 since 2014 and I’m going to disagree with you on the gas usage issue, I mow about 3 1/2 acres and it takes around three to three and a half hours to mow on average. They have a five gallon tank on the tractor and I can mow twice on a tank of grass, in the spring it might take 3/4 of a tank but by July when the heat slows the grass mowing season a bit I can usually mow twice. I live in northern Ohio so spring mowing is definitely more of job than middle of summer is, but this thing is a beast. My biggest mistake when I bought mine was I didn’t get the three point hitch, so anyone buying one of these X700 series tractors, I’d recommend getting the three point hitch when you buy the tractor. There’s just so many attachments that you can get for these that helps get the most out of your investment, I know there’s some sticker shock when you invest in one of these but a three point hitch is the one option that opens up what you can really do with this tractor. Sorry to ramble on but I wanted to say something about the gas mileage and to say thanks for the video. Have a good one everyone!
Thansk for your feed back and your experience with you x700 series tractor. I would implore anyone that is getting a x700 series that they get the 3 point and pto installed. It does have its limits due to the size of the tires and how low to the ground it is. As to the fuel usage. I'm glad that yours is getting such good fuel usage. Maybe mine is abnormal, but we can not mow our yard two times without filling up. I just asked my wife how long it takes her again and she said 1 hour and 10 min. And that's uses over half a tank. Our old mower with a 20hp brings and I'm not sure how big the tank was, but it was smaller than 5 gallons.( I think about 4) And I know we could mow 2 times with one tank of fuel with that.
If there’s ever any thought about getting a Rototiller or any other implement that needs a PTO then get one. It’s actually not to difficult to put the PTO on yourself after the fact, there are good videos about doing that. Maybe watch it and see if you’d be capable of doing that yourself. You have to drainage the hydraulic fluid out of it but it’s recommended that you do that at 50 hours anyway. If you get one you’ll enjoy the heck out of it. Good luck and have a good one!
does that snowblower have that retched plastic impeller?...the x739 is the best lawn tractor out there...my uncle has the older x729 and im always borrowing it so i dont have to use the cub cadet ZT2 that breaks my back on the 1.25 acre of bumpy yard with many trees...not to mention the 18 deg hill i have to mow is so much safer on the tractor its downright scary on the ZT...its also the 62in and the ZT is a 50in so it takes 40 min off the time...id also want the htd glass cab and snowblower seeing as i live in WNY with the lake effect and a 250ft drive...but id change that plastic flat impeller...for 4700 a snowblower should not have that...idk why they dont just have pronovost make them for JD...much better blower...i wonder if a front 3 pt hitch can be found for these x700s?
My blower has the metal impeller. Although I did bend it when I sucked up a piece of 2x4. I agree that the x739 is one of the best tractors for mowing. I would think you could adapt a 3 point to work with the quick hitch, but myself I'd upgrade the impeller and if it still had chain drive I'd swap that out with the gearbox and then you'd have a pretty solid unit.
@@dustybooksdiy true...and my uncle has the 54in plow on his x729 and he was zipping up the drive pushing the 14in of snow with no issue...those tractors are worth the cash...as for the blower you could do that...ppl have i believe and it works out well esp switching from that plastic thing it really throws farther...i think a 2x4 would bend a lot of blowers...id want the pronovost blower myself seeing as they arent much more money...just got to have that front 3pt...

Oh, I might be interested in that extra gearcase. I have a 54" that needs lots of work. I am in SE Minnesota.

Thanks for the review.
You guys don't realize that, not only does 4WD add complexity it also uses more gas.
That's a good point. Along with the weight of these x700 series tractors. More iron to be pushing around.

I got a 758 diesel. Only uses 2 gallons per yard
2 gallons per yard? How big is each yard? My yard is 12 acres. Can I mow that with 2 gallons?
All wheel steer is awsome!!😊

As far as the radiator direction...i would get a different fan blade that blows rearward instead of the stock one blowing fwd/sucking air outtcab
I have thought about that, just haven't looked into it.

I just bought a new x738. I plan on getting the blower and cab next year, where did you buy the cab?
I got it as a package deal with the snowblower.
Great video!😊
Thanks! 😊
Where do you get that gear case upgrade?
I ordered one off Ebay and then I decided to call my local dealer and it was cheaper than ebay. So I would check with you dealer
Thank you 👍
