When I was 17 I got an "interview" for one of these companies. I was told I didn't need any education and I could "make full time money with part time work". My interview was held in some sketchy office above a plaza that I'm sure you could probably rent by the day. The recruiter was this early to mid 20 year old woman that was super pushy during our presentation. The entire "interview" lasted nearly 2 hours! Not sure why I stuck around, guess I didn't wanna be rude. When she "offered me the job" I said I wanted to think about it, she didn't take that well. I was by far the youngest there, as most of the people were college kids or middle aged adults, but I'm still proud of myself that I was able to say no, and walk out on the "job offer". I ended up finding a retail job a couple weeks later, it sucked ALOT but I stuck around for 5 years (while I was in college) and I also met my wife there. Guess everything happens for a reason.
Recently I was recruited to one of these companies too. Our interview is not long but after I'm recruited they make us spend 2 days to be "educated" about sale and marketing. The so-called teacher said he was a sale expert which is the highest place in the company. He said he is still studying and has already earned so much and that he values hard work. It basically feels like being brainwashed. Eventually I sensed something fishy about this company and left after the first day and I didn't regret it.

The big thing with MLMs and Pyramid schemes is that they make the premise sound easy, but their main goal is to get you to sell so much to your friends and family that you have no other choice but to try reaching out to others in the hopes of getting them to help you sell this product that the market gets oversaturated with products no one actually needs until eventually you just convince yourself that you HAVE to keep trying because you've already sunk so much time and money into this venture. That's different. Scouts need money so they can buy equipment to go camping, and hiking, and other stuff scouts do. Equipment costs, believe me. And the people responsible for the scout group (the adults) are there just because they enjoy it. Nobody is giving them all the money necessary for all the equipment. So yeah, scouts go selling cookies or whatever they decide to sell so that they can buy all the equipment themselves. As a side note, more often than not you already have the equipment from scouts that came before you, but said equipment can break, deteriorate, and so that money is spent on maintenance

the first indicator that you might be looking at a pyramid scheme: They'll tell you that it isn't a pyramid scheme
You Da Real Mvp
So you dodge a pyramid scheme and found your wife when working at retail
+ Respect
Recently I was recruited to one of these companies too. Our interview is not long but after I'm recruited they make us spend 2 days to be "educated" about sale and marketing. The so-called teacher said he was a sale expert which is the highest place in the company. He said he is still studying and has already earned so much and that he values hard work. It basically feels like being brainwashed. Eventually I sensed something fishy about this company and left after the first day and I didn't regret it.
Bro wtf I had a similar experience 🙃
Damnnn that's amazing!
Just now realizing that those kids who went around school selling chocolate bars for fundraisers were technically part of a pyramid scheme

Important tip for all of yall: IF YOU HAVE TO *PAY* FOR THE STUFF YOU'LL BE *SELLING,* _IT'S A PYRAMID SCHEME._
Isn’t that how profiting works ?
If you buy inventory without proper ways to resell it you're just a customer
@@xurikenx if it is your own business, like if you own a bakery or run an online craft shop or such then yes. But if you have to pay a minimum of $100 of candles each month and then make a profit of $500 each month in order to stay an employee and you're the one being forced to set a price and you recruitment is a huge part of your commission, then no. It's all fun and games until your calling your credit providers to raise your limits for this once in a lifetime opportunity
My mom used to be in one and I would always attend the meetings and they would make it seem like you'll be making millions and I would just laugh and eat the snacks
Yeah I went to a zoom meeting for one of them bc my family wanted to join it. It was all in mandarin and I didn’t understand so I took the time to take pictures and google translate everything. They target immigrants bc they have trouble understanding English and therefore finding jobs and personal finance might be difficult. At the surface it looks like they are trying to help you but the longer I stayed at the meeting the more suspicious it was with all the incentives they have. The special rings, the product being insurance, and weird events they hold. They are an MLM but so many people fall for it because they make it seem like you’ll be your own entrepreneur but the truth is you don’t get much out of it.
Kids, never ever accept a job that asks for money first. Never give them money too, they should be giving you money instead.
ya even as a kid i would know that lol and know im literally just buying their product. if i wanted to buy in bulk and sell something i can do that without them

My aunt almost fell into a pyramid scheme, and she is really smart. However, despite everyone around her warning her, she just kept saying, "but the recruiter is just so interesting and charismatic!". Like yeah, they have to be in order to convince people to join their garbage pyramid scheme.
Then shes not smart lmao, if people noticed she was going into a pyramid scheme before her then shes not smart. + if her reason is they’re smart and charismatic then shes curious not smart.
She's not really smart. It's not that difficult not to fall for a pyramid scheme. And the people trying to get you in are not charismatic. They look like weird and scary cult leaders with their fake tooth paste smiles. I don't care how fancy their suit and belt is.
