So if demand exceeds that supply you have to raise prices to reduce demand and fund building a new sensor plant to increase capacity.
Tommy Lin Those cellphone sensors are very small- and that brings up another point, sensor costs go by size, exponentially. So there is no way to make a full frame sensor for the sane cost as APS-C at the same technology. The larger sensor takes more space on the semiconductor wafer, you get fewer sensors per wafer. (For phone sensors you get lots of them because they are tiny.) This is one reason full frame will always be more expensive than APS-C.
Sony is in a different league altogether . It doesn't try to chase or compete with other brands, but set its own benchmarks and confuse others. a7iii, a9 and now a7siii are good examples. We may be entering some new type of cameras keeping a balance of size, price and technology. Compact lenses would be a bonus for such an approach. Although, having recently bought a7riii, I won't be buying this camera, but am eager enough to know, what Sony brings now.
Entry level full frame around $1k: Shut up and take my money! Compact vlogging camera $2k+: Hard no... Sounds like A7IV might be due before years end though, so maybe that'll be the go.
I really prefer the flip up screen on the rx100 / ZV-1 size cameras both for eye alignment & the way i held the rx100 was only possible with flip up. But any camera with a shotgun mic on it, flip out all day
lens range of 20-60mm f3,5-4,5 would be nice to see. Price is really important! Needs to be around 1000 dollars. A7I was made in 2013 and A7II in 2014.
I like the idea of a compact a7, but the price really confuses me. If the specs are going to be essentially on par with the a7iii, why would they price it higher than what it was released at? I think it would make the most sense to price it around $1700 to place it right in between the a6600 and a7iii.
It would've made sense if they come up with a camera using computational photography on an e mount in apsc format following the a5k series. It could be another game changer.
I think that all of the Sony A7/A9 series cameras are compact enough, I like the stiling of the Sony A7c very much with the EVF out to the very side of the camera, I hope that all future A7/A9 Sony cameras will have this design, but with larger EVF in higher resolution.
I hope they put that codec in there -> H.265/XAVC HS 4:2:0 10-Bit 4K60 @ 200mbit. Other than that, I expect the new menus, the new EIS + IBIS. As for the lens, I would like to see a compact ultra wide prime, something like a 16mm F4.
Hiya, so I read sony are releasing a new A-mount adapter LA-5 to E-mount, this maybe means the new lenses are A-mount diameter, thus instead of a kit lens bundle you get the adapter (maybe). But I'm just convinced an A-mount mount would fit on the A6xxx range, so it could be that sony are changing their E-mount to say the E+mount in a year or two, as a year or two ago some said that the E-mount had reached a viable limit as the FF sensor seemed squeezed into the E-mount ( just a Canon Conspiracies ) LoL. Agreed that a lot of you-tubers do use a sony for their channel. Not being a vlogger myself I was looking at this A7C until it seemed to be vlogger targeted. I just want something more Photocentric A6xxx size FF basic 4k 8bit more for photos then video (size matters), as every camera company is going hybrid. I'm cheap, I use an A6000 although the A7RII would be nice and is just affordable you need a lens that costs as much or more then the camera itself it get the most out of those 42mp which is understandable. Anyway I'll wait till the A7III becomes cheap enough, like the Canadians you-tubers say 50,000 Canadian dollars in Australia its about 51,000 like a paper cut but we in Oz put Alcohol gel in it. Id like to see an a7 cinema camera that focuses even more on video than the s3. Komodo brick style, no grip, no internal small battery, external npf or v-mount plate, mounts for a cage, bnc sdi ports etc.

I know this is a ridiculous stretch, but if they wanted to make the perfect 'street camera' for my needs (most of which users prefer primes between 24-50mm) I would love for Sony to make a 24-50mm f1.8 or f2 lens for this new body. If they can make it compact 'enough', that would make it perfect for every day carry. which is why I still prefer my A6500 over my A7R3 for street use. Would lopping off the extra 20mm of the 24-70mm offerings be enough?
Ooh man I really really hope this camera has all the exact same specs as the panasonic S5 just at a lower price! So 4k 10bit 4.2.2 4k 60p 10bit 4.2.0 1080p 10bit 4.2.2 etc will be amazing I'd be sold, because with its great auto focus and low light. The S5 makes the R6 redundant and I genuinely think this A7C will make the S5 & R6 redundant. The S5 will be redudent and obsolete before it's even avaliable for purchase!.

Gut tells me the pop-up EVF won't happen & either they keep it at 8 bit ALA A7iii or they do away with eye detect in video. To keep it at $1500 & protect potential A7IV sales something has to give IMO. A7C will have IBIS & 4k60 though for sure, now that we know it's over a grand!
Peoples are using sony apsc and fullframe cameras for BTS because 1. RELIABLE AF 2. High ISO performance 3. Compact video files 4. A lot of third party lenses. 5. Compact sizes. So if you don't need 10 bit 4:2:2 all intra and you don't have NASA's PC sony a6400 or A7III is very good choice!)
As a casual prosumer kind of guy I had an A7II and then I bought an RP, I didn't get rid of the A7II because I wanted to see if I would stay with Canon or go back to Sony and I think I made the right decision keeping the A7II. Even though fundamentally I prefer Canon, I think Sony is starting to pull away and the A7IV will probably be the camera that really finishes off Canon. Assuming it will have a bigger body and flip-out screen, dual card slots with the new media too, I think Canon is screwed, being able to get high quality and cheaper lenses from Tamron and Sigma really just put Sony even further ahead too so sadly the RP will be going up for sale this week.
The A7III is already a small short grip and body. Any smaller and ergos are going to suffer big time with normal size full frame lens. If they introduce very small slow aperture lenses then you are going to loose the full frame shallow dept of field draw. Fuji 1.4 lenses are already small and equal the depth of field of F2 full frame lenses.
I hope one of the lenses is similar to the Panasonic 20-60mm. Hopefully a constant f4 or f2.8 - 4. I slightly wide lens to short telephoto is perfect imo.
Completely agree on the focal length range, but I hope they don't make it larger and heavier by adding a larger aperture. At least not to be paired with this new compact camera
Jed yeah I am with you. If an f4 keeps it small, then do it. Rather have range with a wide than fast. Only light weight options are Sony 16-35 f4, tamron 17-28, sigma 14-28.
We really aren't buying FF mirrorless cameras because we want them to be small. We're buying them for the EVF and those focus points. Kinda like how there's coupes that are bigger than sedans and the people who buy those want speed and don't care about how easy it is to park.
I mentioned it several years ago. It will be the A7 without ibis but it will have the guts of a6400 and some a9 guts too. The A7 was already very compact.
Not sure what to think until we get it in hand. I really hope it has ibis and 4k 60p. But will settle for 120p or more in 1080 if it is good looking. I'm looking at trading in my gh5 and mft system for the a7s3 in the future. Mainly to have one system and be done with it. I already have the a7r3 and lenses, so more compact lenses and a cheaper option without an evf and with a flippy screen sounds awesome. Let's see what they do.

With the Z5, and the now S5, I am expecting Canon to level up the game the EOS RP or just replace it... and it's just rumors for the A7c, but the pop-up EVF (don't like it), no problem with the fully articulated touch screen, I am sure they will add the new menu system, one card slot (Z5 & S5 have 2)... Let wait and see.
If Sony could make wide angle stabilized under f/2 would perfect all the big flaws of the kit lens for recording videos, for me it's the moire, doesn't go with 4k neither less megapixels only wide open aperture at very fast f/number the moire is not screwing the whole thing!
IMHO the wrong direction. I'd like to have a super robust bigger mirrorless Sony full frame camera, that I can hold well with my larger hands and with a top level lcd. But I'm probably not going to get it any time soon (and might to think about switching to Canon some day in 2-3 years when there's enough also 3rd party RF glass available). On the other hand, if the smaller camera is really good and if Sony can create, small and fast lenses, then this might also be an option. But I I'm afraid we'll see a lot of "boring" f2.8 or f4 compact zoom lenses targeted at video recording (yawn!).
A $2,000 + camera with one card slot?? Sony doesn't think vloggers need redundancy for their material? Did they not learn anything from the torching reviewers gave Canon and Nikon for their one slot?? I've had a card go bad on me. Not fun! I won't buy a camera without the 2 slots. Guess I'll wait for the A74.
If it's above 2K most people will op for the Sony A6600 currently at $1200.00 or less. Prices have already fallen a little in the last week. At $1500.00 I would buy it. At 2K I would buy a Sony A6600; the price will only go lower.
I’ll just stick with my a6400 lol. There is so many cameras and options on the market, so I really don’t think this one is for one. But having more lenses is always a plus.

Not really the same audience. Similar, yes. The ZV-1 is for v-loggers who don't want to think much about the technical aspect. Built in mic, one lense, easy functions and handling. The A7c, if the rumors are correct, offers more possibilities to the user, but also complicats things a little. It is basically for everyone who wants a small cam/b-cam when weight is a factor, like traveling, hiking and so on.

I guess they'd have some market for it but I personally wouldn't mind a larger body. The current bodies work well with the Tamron lenses like the 70-180 I got recently but feel off for a heavier lens like the 100-400. A bulkier, more durable and less likely to overheat body would have a market too.
Ah I've just seen on that page you showed it's going to retail for just over £2000 body only. No chance I'll pre order the S5 with the 20-60 and get the free sigma 45mm T2.8 for free effectively bringing the camera down to £1500. I've just emailed Sony, not that they'll listen. If they price this camera at over £2000 body only it's literally lunacy!! It needs to be £1000 which I told them! It's a joke being priced at £2000. They've effectively given Panasonic with the S5 a home run!. Why buy the A7C it won't have anything the S5 does apart from slightly better AF! S5 comes with two lenses for £1999 british pounds! I dont want to be my camera super small. I want all of my dingers fit on it and i dont want a small body with big lenses. Good ff lenses cant be super small. Body and lenses have to be good size balance . I want a working tool not a toy. By an small mft cam if you want to go small, their lenses are also small and such a cam has good image quality to, its a better choice for most people
I came to this channel for photography, not for someone to read rumor websites, which is what this channel turned into. Its time to unsubscribe. UA-cam "photographers" instead of motivating people and teach them about photography, even history of photography or i would even understand going to great photographer websites and talking about their work, but talking about gear 24/7 is just so bad. Fully articulating screen is useful because it can be flipped 180 degrees to protect the lcd when camera is not in use, like in the bag.

I think a full frame camera with 1.SD card slot for 2,000 might not ideal. Price rage around 1,500 is reasonable.

V lens stands for video lens. Best aperture for video tends to be f2.8-f4 I figure all the v lens will be small f4 primes

Did they not learn anything from the torching reviewers gave Canon and Nikon for their one slot?? I've had a card go bad on me. Not fun! I won't buy a camera without the 2 slots. Guess I'll wait for the A74.
If it's above 2K most people will op for the Sony A6600 currently at $1200.00 or less. Prices have already fallen a little in the last week. At $1500.00 I would buy it. At 2K I would buy a Sony A6600; the price will only go lower.
I think Sony should make a gimbal like the ronin SC maybe even smaller
C is stand for cute, so this camera is build especially for those with smaller hands.

First, release an overpriced camera that pisses off everyone, then release A7iv that satisfies everyone. If that's the strategy, I'm okay with it. haha
Id love a compact ass fuck lens for a full frame lens. anything under 75mm will do for me. don't really care about Fstop numbers as long as the minimum isn't higher then 6.3

Not really the same audience. Similar, yes. The ZV-1 is for v-loggers who don't want to think much about the technical aspect. Built in mic, one lense, easy functions and handling. The A7c, if the rumors are correct, offers more possibilities to the user, but also complicats things a little. It is basically for everyone who wants a small cam/b-cam when weight is a factor, like traveling, hiking and so on.
Lol. Above 2k ? Sony is really missing the point here in my opinion. I think a compact FF camera with actually a price amateurs will pay. It will sell so good. They have no idea. I hope they are wrong about the vloggers and youtubers and the price. They have the zv1 for vloggers. Its time for a compact ff for photographers. Thats 3 camera lines in a row for video... Nope. The body is too small for the FF lens. Even putting on a larger apsc lens on the a6xxx body is a but front heavy. I have a bracket on the bottom, make it a little better. Who knows. It’s going to have 1 single memory slot? Keep the same screen? Same EVF? No joystick? Dame, my a6600 is outdated. Hahaha
This is bad news for me. I'm waiting for the 7IV... and they come out with a 7C (FF sensor in and aps-c body....come on sony.

I guess they'd have some market for it but I personally wouldn't mind a larger body. The current bodies work well with the Tamron lenses like the 70-180 I got recently but feel off for a heavier lens like the 100-400. A bulkier, more durable and less likely to overheat body would have a market too.

Ah I've just seen on that page you showed it's going to retail for just over £2000 body only. No chance I'll pre order the S5 with the 20-60 and get the free sigma 45mm T2.8 for free effectively bringing the camera down to £1500. Sod that nope no way over £2000 body only nope bye bye I love sony but they can jog on at that price.

No why can the lens be light and small for full frame. You can't have your cake and eat it to . Don't see the point of a dumb down s73 that's already $2000 . You want a $1000 full frame Canon got you. New a7r 2 are $1300 buy this in stead
I've just emailed Sony, not that they'll listen. If they price this camera at over £2000 body only it's literally lunacy!! It needs to be £1000 which I told them! It's a joke being priced at £2000. They've effectively given Panasonic with the S5 a home run!. Why buy the A7C it won't have anything the S5 does apart from slightly better AF! S5 comes with two lenses for £1999 british pounds! I love sony but good joke there crazy.

I dont want to be my camera super small. I want all of my dingers fit on it and i dont want a small body with big lenses. Good ff lenses cant be super small. Body and lenses have to be good size balance . I want a working tool not a toy. By an small mft cam if you want to go small, their lenses are also small and such a cam has good image quality to, its a better choice for most people
I came to this channel for photography, not for someone to read rumor websites, which is what this channel turned into. Its time to unsubscribe. UA-cam "photographers" instead of motivating people and teach them about photography, even history of photography or i would even understand going to great photographer websites and talking about their work, but talking about gear 24/7 is just so bad. Absolute 100% wrong direction and its really sad to see what youtube photogragraphy community is turning into.
