Sadly, Dud was never really fully appreciated for his absolute genius whilst he was with us - not only as a brilliant comic, but also as an amazing musician across the board. We miss you Dud - bet you're having a ball & still entertaining everyone up in the clouds, especially if you met up with the fantastic, one-of-a-kind, Victor Borge. Now THAT would be a concert 🎼 well worth watching ! RIP: Victor and Dud 🎵 🥰 🎶
Ah Paul....YES!!! What a wonderful thing to say. If there’s a heaven, I hope I get there and, like you, I hope there’s a concert hall with Victor Borge and Dudley Moore at their respective pianos. Fantastic entertainers, both sorely missed.
Of course he was appreciated. Part of one of biggest ever comedy duos in the UK that changed the face of satire, going on to be one of the highest paid Hollywood movie stars of the 80's...He was asked to play piano on nearly every talk show he was invited to, publicity any Jazz musician would be more than happy with. Maybe Peter Cook was under appreciated. He certainly thought so.
Very grateful for this music and for Mr. Moore and all his solo and trio brilliance. Can't say enough about how wonderful, truly wonderful he was. What an artist.
MAYBE not the best classical pianist ever... MAYBE not the best jazz pianist ever... MAYBE not the best pop pianist ever... but DEFINITELY the best crossover pianist EVER... the man could play ANYTHING... and play it WELL... an artist so versatile he will always be in a class by himself.
And then of course, also the comedy and the acting. I didn’t recollect the piano skills but I’ve been checking out some really amazing performances lately on YT!
Am sure we can’t swear about Dudley Moore . Think he would hate what we’ve become non comment frightened society. He was A Brilliant a gift for us all. For all time. Best of Brits. With great superb competitive company Doh Peter Cook…..What a pair. We’ve been so lucky and privileged to have them both in our lifetimes. Am Not a musician but Dudley’s piano playing was ……. Brilliant. His playing got me through early hell and will see me out. We won’t get anymore, a bit of AI regurgitation maybe . All :Just Love what we have. Frigging amazing lyrical pianist . We’ve just got to try laugh with him, cheer up. It’s hard. What Dud would want.
Dud was a true master of the piano. His understanding of musical structures and a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of the subject never fails to impress me. I grew up mainly regarding him for his comic work with Peter Cook, but there was so much more to him. A genius and supremely talented person.
So glad I came across this. I love the orchestral version; this adds another dimension. Had just watched his 'interpretations' of Faure and Schubert from Beyond the Fringe. A great musician and comedian and a great loss. RIP Dud. ❤
So much talent in one person. Brilliant pianist, composer, comedian, actor and one half (or maybe one third according to Peter Cook) of one of the best comedy duos Britain has ever produced. Not only or was he also?
Saw Duidley in condcert in Cerrtios CA, what an evening. Many classics such as Rhaposody in Blue, which was a show stopper and then his hilaroius interpretation in falsetto of a German Opera singer.
Yes, Jack, quite so. The pop fans don't know what they're missing, do they ? I'm not fond of jazzing up existing classics, but do admire the skill here : such dexterity. Also love the parodies : that cruel disease must have been heartbreaking for such a talented musician. Ss sad. But we can still experience the wonderful humour with the recordings....they are all so special. ☺
My folks got Chris' autograph for me after a Dudley Moore Trio concert in Adelaide...earlier in the 70s than '78, I suspect, because I was with a babysitter. Love his work. Great trio. Still on regular rotation for me and my Dad who's now 82.
There's a really great DVD available from Martine Avenue Productions called "Jazz In OZ". Its a show from Australian television shot in 1971. The band is Dudley, Chris Karan and Pete Morgan. I highly recommend it. Sadly its only an hour long...
Why don't you stop being so critical and just except the Genius Dudley was,In Music and comedic actor, along with his other half Peter,R.I.P. the both of you 💓
God breathes genius into one human being. And destroys him with a rare form of Parkinson's disease. Tragic to see what happened to him at the end. I question my faith when I think of how brilliant Dudley was and what happened to him.
kickboxer The Derick and Agony shit he did was a load of F..king Balls but his jazz playing was something else Has a little kid he lived down the same road as a Aunt of mine in Dagenham Essex, yer great pianist say no more.
I am a bit offended by this Aussie audience! They were too straight-faced and unappreciative of some wonderful playing. Dudley deserved better than that!!

Jeez, in how many ways can you be impressed by one human?
I’m only seeing this in 2022!!! What a Talent! Spread the word ..

Wow, looking at this in 2024. I already knew he was great but seeing this again. Wow. I just love this .
Dudley Moore.
What a wonderfully talented and gifted man he was.
A great pity that he passed in the way that he did.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the unreal drumming here? He must have a right arm made of steel!
So so true. That’s one of the fasters straight eights I know from ANY drummer!!
One of my favourite pieces of orchestral music, reinterpreted by a genius!
Just brilliant.
I never get tired of listening to
this wonderful man play.
R I P. Dudley Moore. 😎
A very talented trio, an excellent blend of piano, Bass, & Drums, loved it!

Insane amounts of talent on display here, cheers Dud! Thanks so much for postin'.

@@brucekuehn4031 The only pianist that I know who could emulate to perfection Errol Garner, DEFINITELY the best crossover pianist EVER!!
And a competent classical and jazz organist

The man was a genius. So hugely talented across the board. So very sadly missed. He died far too young. But, what a legacy. RIP.

A classy performer terribly under rated due to his versatility love you duds.
And Cook as well. Loved them.
Glory glory Magnificent Brilliant amazing, such joy 😢😢😢Rip love love his humility a blessing to many LEGEND

Utterly brilliant. Super tight group, Chris excellent drummer.
He was an outstanding musician indeed! Music like this is rarely heard now!
just to clarify, and in my own opinion, music of this caliber & quality is rarely heard now...just sayin'.
Omg how many could perform this ...just superb...Dudley you were a genius...❤️
brilliant in so many ways, what a terrible end to such an awesome talent...never forgotten.
Just brilliant!
I bought Genuine Dud in about 1965. That album has been the measure of my piano jazz experience. Brilliance, sadness, exuberance.
Yeah, I also gave Genuine Dun. It's great
So glad I came across this. I love the orchestral version; this adds another dimension. Had just watched his 'interpretations' of Faure and Schubert from Beyond the Fringe. A great musician and comedian and a great loss. RIP Dud. ❤
What INCREDIBLE talent!! I just stand in awe!
He plays this in very much the style of the amazing Errol Garner. Mr. Moore is great.
such a wonderful person & Fabulous pianist ❤️🤪 such a sad ending most of end years etc ✅ a talent never forgotten 🌈
Omg just genius. Have listened to this for years but seeing them play - even better than better.
This is brilliant.
What a talent! Gone too soon! Dear Dudley, always in my heart.
He was great. I can listen to him forever
Brilliant! I never thought of doing Scheherazade as a jazz samba.
Still hearing in October 2020.
Dud is one of greatest jazz player's of all time
Who says Dudley was gifted and beautifully intelligent the piano answere his command RIP Dudley x
Sooooooo exciting!! ......This is life. So animated. Dud was one of the best ever. Its been said over and over.... He was pure genius.

Just watching this again. Love it.
Always come back to his music.......
Brilliant pianist, also a masterful composer
Excellent!!!
So much talent in one person. Brilliant pianist, composer, comedian, actor and one half (or maybe one third according to Peter Cook) of one of the best comedy duos Britain has ever produced. Not only or was he also?
Derek and Clive will never die.
Incredible artist.A jazz version of a Russian composers masterpiece. Could Dudley Moore be more versatile?
Loved him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw Duidley in condcert in Cerrtios CA, what an evening. Many classics such as Rhaposody in Blue, which was a show stopper and then his hilaroius interpretation in falsetto of a German Opera singer.
lucky you.
Great man...
Just discovered this. I always like Scheherazade and Scheherajazz but this is on a different level again.
Unbelievably good.

Thankfully I have UA-cam to give me a taste of how good Dudley Moore was as a pianist.
Spectacular!!
Yet, modern crap that we get on the radio has millions of likes. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!

te amo dudley moore,un genio!!!!!!!
This is my friend Chris Karan on drums. He's an amazing drummer and about one of the nicest cats you're likely to meet.
He's good! I dig it!
Did Chris Karan ever play on P&O cruises in 1969?
do you know what year this film is from?
My folks got Chris' autograph for me after a Dudley Moore Trio concert in Adelaide...earlier in the 70s than '78, I suspect, because I was with a babysitter. Love his work. Great trio. Still on regular rotation for me and my Dad who's now 82.
@@tagmotion Yes, still on rotation here, as well. Great stuff.
It seems to me that the black notes play a bit louder than the white ones.
An absolute genius on the keyboard
masterful
Just Wow!
Sublime
Well what can you say about Dudley, pure class.
Used to see Chris Karan at the Bulls Head back in the 60s. Beautiful melody “the prince and the princess”.
I was there.
Anyone else imagine Snoopy dancing to this:)
"I tell yah, this bloke came up to me and said, You........."
Would love to see the whole show...

Even Nikolai's feet would be tapping to this...
Harry Hill must've been watching lol
I'm sure that Rimsky-Korsakoff would have loved the arrangement by the Dudley Moore trio.
Samba beat / rhythm I believe. Great
That's how to open a show!!
Keith Emerson was a big Dudley Moore fan.
grande
wow
Yeah, well, I used to be able to play that with one hand under me belt. Or was that 'Blackbird Gavot'?
😂
Outstanding . Guess he bever cared to boost this side . For sure he was one of the big ones in his time . But no so known as such .
TWas getting to the centrepoint in the music there ... Brilliant ...

You're right and thank you for the comment. I know you meant 'accept' instead of 'except'.
Anyone else who can hear a really loud electronic whine throughout the video
I just love Duddly, especially when he morfs into Bo Duddly...
That's quite a complex set of procedures needed to land that shirt on the runway..............
Love to see his technique of how he works around his small hands limitation.Wonder if he can even reach a ninth.
Ha!!!! :D
Thank you for your input Mr/Mrs Small intellect limitation 👍🏼

George fucking Webber!
Never liked the Derek & Clive shit he did with Peter Cook but his music was master class. A truly great musician and not a bad actor

Oz bass and drums?
Joe Harnell would've loved this
Great playing! In the high register the piano sound a bit too metallic.
You are very talented just like Dud ; a prodigious You Tube commenter and nit picker .
I am a bit offended by this Aussie audience! They were too straight-faced and unappreciative of some wonderful playing. Dudley deserved better than that!!
He looks like Goebbels
"I recognise that Leitmotif....." :D
