    Best playthroughs of any channel, and I watch a lot of them. Excellent balance/timing of rules explanation and gameplay. Remarkable ability to demonstrate different strategies without messing up the rules. Clear speaking voice and a good pace. Top notch.

    I’ve watched 3 tutorials on this game and still felt confused. This was an amazing explanation, wow. It all just clicked watching this. The way you present the concept, the overall premise and goals, and then the rules paired with a playthrough, it’s so clear. Thank you!!

    Altho there are many rules channels that explain the rules just as well, it is the full and partial playthroughs that are most useful as you ca nse the rule interpretations in action. Invaluable resource. I just wish this was a full playthrough. Just cos I love your videos.

    Definitely one of the newer games I'm most looking forward to, along with Hallertau and Anno 1800. I've never missed your full playthroughs more, even though this is a game where you didn't really _need_ to show any later rounds. It's just more of the same, though that's not a bad thing.
    My overall impression of Arnak is that it doesn't do a whole lot that is very new, but what it does it does very well. The one thing that is innovative and nice is the item/artifact distinction, it makes deckbuilding have meaning even in the later stages of the game. Also, new items go effectively on _top_ of the cards you discard, so you are guaranteed to see them much sooner. That's also really nice.

    This was a really great tutorial. Your speech was clear and not rushed which allowed me to concentrate on learning the game. Cutting away between turns instead of pondering over your moves with a lot of mumbling was pro.
    I've been on the fence about purchasing this game, and thought to play through a few times on Board Game Arena prior to buying. This left me with the issue of learning the rules without having them in front of me. You absolutely solved this issue for me.
    I'll subscribe and hope to utilize another tutorial in the future. Thanks!

    Around 55:35, when the archeologists gets returned using the ocarina, shouldn't the red player get a fear card, as the guardian spider was still on the site? You didn't issue them a fear card, so I guess not, but I thought I'd ask for a clarification. Are fear cards received only when archeologists return to base at the end of a round?

    • @JonGetsGames

    God help me, this is my first Euro and I'm trying to play the solo variant. I was pulled in by the theme and how wonderful everything looks.
    After watching some reviews and reading the rules I figured I'd set up the board and give it a go.
    Uhmm .....should I just spend all of my funding cards to buy a card or dig at a starting sight or explore further up the board? Once I do one of these things then round one is over and there are only four more rounds left huh?
    As I said I've never played a game like this but with the help of your video and some perseverance I'm hoping to become proficient at this gorgeous game.

    Question: why sliding cards over when refreshing the market? Does it matter where in the market cards are positioned?

    • @JonGetsGames

      You slide them because the cards next to the staff are removed, so the cards that have been on the market the longest are then removed.

    Wait. You can get the revolver and just pay only one exploration token to take out a guardian? And this can be used repeatedly? At 5VP a guardian, sounds overpowered.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 роки тому

      It can be used multiple times, but the game is only 5 rounds long and there is no guarantee you'll get it in your hand even that many times. It's a good card, but there are tons of good cards to choose from.

    Hello Jon, now I'm mega super confused. Well you took 2 actions with the green player by placing both workers and then you did a "purchase card action" so this is a 3rd action. Is that against the rules? You have to perform only 2 actions?! Thanks

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  10 місяців тому +1

      You can take far more than 2 actions per round, the only limitation with workers is taking up to 2 worker placement actions on the board. Purchasing a card does not cost a worker.

What is your opinion on playing gloom haven. Is it your favorite like so many others or is it just another game. Is it the go to game for you. Have you heard about aliens another day in the core. I liked the way many cards have immediate impacts on the game, and it's also pretty crunchy when it comes to resource management. You spend lots of things in lots of ways so it's a game that heavily utilizes the planning part of your brain. I wouldn't say there's anything revolutionary here, but it does come together as a fun game from my experience.
