- In this episode of DIY Guitar Making, I'm jointing the soundboards and backs for the acoustic guitar build workshops. I'm using a shooting board and a #5 jack plane.

Thanks for the video. I think I'll put a clamp on my shooting board, I'd never really thought about it. I like the idea of clamping down with a set amount hanging over to be removed. On a side note because I'm a plant geek, Picea abies is often called Norway spruce if anyone is wondering if they can cut down common landscape trees to make instruments. I frequently see ones around 3 feet diameter in people's yards here in New England- often with clear sections of trunk. I have a fantasy about splitting my own billets with a froe...

Nice shop
I had wondered recently if the boards could be joined only from the center of tree or vise versa. You just answered my question.
Great demo....thanks!
I was reading a forum.. where some people are saying that it should be on G note..and some people are saying E.
The light under the plexiglas is an excellent idea. Do you use anything in particular for it? Or is it basically a light box set flush to the table?
been 3 days cant even get them to joint
