    I do reckon the base CX90 (priced just under $80k) is the sweet spot to pick if you aren't looking to spend money on sunroof and touch screen. Drive is exactly the same and does have the other key tech elements like 360 camera and heads up display. I am also averaging 8.3L / 100km on 80% freeway / country and 20% city for the Petrol model, pretty decent fuel economy and it is effortless to drive the speed upto 100km / hr. Also noting the 19 inch wheel with 55 profile tyre does make the car more comfortable and lesser noises, also the all models came with double glazed front window to make the cabin quiet.

    It's well ahead of the now long in the tooth CX9. It's a pretty decent drive. Not fully perfect, but pretty bloody good . The diesel is again probably the best pick

    A great SUV, the main issue is pricing. That alone will relegate this as a low volume product. I fear with economic headwinds hitting, and the pivot to EVs... launching an expensive ICE SUV is probably only going to work for 3 years or so before sales dry up and the model dies along with Mazda. If I put my Tony Seba hat on... I predict that there will not be a next gen version of the CX60 or CX90 and the model will disappear before 2030.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  Рік тому +2

      Wow. Crystal balling it there! Just know that the platform is “suitable for EV” but it’s not “ideal”, according to the program manager.

    • @GlowingTube
      @GlowingTube Рік тому +1

      @@therightcar Unless Mazda have an EV specific platform they are just not going to get the efficiency good enough or the build costs low enough to compete with Tesla and the Chinese. Also, not being vertically integrated like Tesla means that they will struggle to be cost competitive. If Tony Seba is to be believed (and he has been right so far) Mazda will either go out of business or have to merge given their current EV plans.

    If i was looking for a Mazda CX90 i would wait for the Hybrid or PHEV if you have personnel plug in facilities. This basic combustion engine is already a Sky Active Dynasaur. As an urbanite the Hybrid would be perfect for that silent and fuel saving experience, and that in itself saves the engine from all the hard work of stopping and going, not to mention the zero poison spewing out of the exhaust when on battery mode/Eco mode when sitting in city traffic or just mooching along at slow speed. Makes perfect sense. The seating for 7 seems to work well so well done to the interior design team in producing a very practical family large SUV mobile.

    Could you put cost of tyres in running costs. 19 20 now 21 inch wheels. 18 inch RAV4 tyres are expensive enough. Saw a comment onXtrail test owner couldnt buy a tyre in Australia.

    • @351tgv
      @351tgv Рік тому

      That is a bit hard as tyres would be variable pricing when upgrading depending on where and how you buy them.
      I an tell you somewhat my experience:
      OEM replacement : Continental Contact Sport 5 P235/45/19 V99 (load/speed) range from approx. $350 per corner, so you are looking at $1,400 (depending on where and how you purchase).
      I ended up not opting to replace the OEM tyres with OEM, I opted for different brand Goodyear Eagle F1 P235/45/19 V99 for a lot less at $220 per corner for $880, a saving of $520, of which I ended u doing front and rear wheel alignments, all up from the tyre shop (wont mention there name) $990, which is a fair price for the tyres and wheel alignment (front and rear).
      Since tyres are a consumable product its always best to shop around and get the best deal which suits your needs.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  Рік тому

      Nailed it, TGV.
      It is way too hard to add tyre consumption costs into running costs - there are so many variables. Bigger tyres will cost more, that’s been the case since 16-inch sporty tyres were “big”. So, as more cars add bigger tyres, the prices will come down.
      Either way, smaller tyres still cost less, like a set of 17s might be $1200, while 22s could be $1200 a corner!

    This car is over priced and the only spark would be the power of the engine but the mild hybrid system is useless anyway that maybe the cause bring the price up. And yes, you need nearly 100k within the top range for the ventilated seat. When I sit in this car in driver seat, my left leg still feel being pushed back from the middle thing, and you cannot easily straight your leg across in the rear seat, just like all MAZDA SUV vehicle. Predicatably, MAZDA will offer discounted price in 2 years for this car as nobody is buying it. If the price to be lowered around 15k to 20k, then it will be a very good choice to compete with Palisade only if Palisade is not going to have its diesel engine upgraded to a 3.0+ Turbo or V6 AWD.
    Personally conclusion, good car, over priced, useless hybird system brings the service cost up.

    For Mazda’s sake this better be a success in Australia (where a powerful diesel in a Mazda SUV should be a strong seller)- but in the US (where this needs to sell well) diesels don’t sell and Mazda is a pretty niche brand (accepting CX5 and CX50 are reasonably popular there). If CX90 is priced in US around the same as a Genesis it’s DOA

    • @rexthesheep
      @rexthesheep Рік тому

      @@rexthesheep - yeah Passenger vehicles and diesel don't mix and match at all in the North American market.
      Many and I do many people in the NA market seriously want turbo diesel for the mid size trucks (re; Ranger, Colorado, Tacoma, Frontier and others) but the car markers only offer turbo petrol or V6 petrol, while we would like turbo petrol we are stuck with the junk that is turbo diesel and its Euro 6 and soon Euro 7 future issues.

      Personally nope.
      But my friend in the Philippines bought a Mercedes Benz V220D which spent three visits to the repair shop within the same month.
      Also, because Mercedes Benz uses these biodegradable wiring harnesses, they easily melt in hot and humid tropical weather.
      He definitely regretted that decision and said that he should've bought a Toyota Granvia / Hiace Super Grandia instead.

    if it had a EUNOS badge on it then maybe, but that Mazda badge is not premium.
    As to why Diesel is 10,000/12 months I would think its due to being Euro 6 so the engine would need DPF and DEF checks.

      @@therightcar - on a different note entirely, I just purchased a Nissan X-Trail Ti NA petrol CVT today, picking it up on potentially Thursday.
      Out of all options on offer (and YES I tested around 15 vehicles over a 7 week period, its exhausting, I don't know how you do it) it came down to either Outlander Aspire AWD or X-Trail Ti 4x4 both have the same NA petrol and CVT, the X-Trail just won the battle due to supply as basically no NSW Mitsubishi dealerships have Outlander in Aspire AWD spec until at least early October for delivery, heaps of FWD spec but again matt you buy on needs not wants.
