With modern high end systems there’s really no point worrying about bloat any more. We aren’t storing our operating system on floppy disks any more (unless you use minuet OS)
thing is some bloat does take up system resources or affects boot time so those who want to for example game on a pc that aint that good they will want to remove the bloat that runs in the background or is unnecesary if they are low on disk space
@ with modern hardware we have so much resources that we’re getting to the point where bloat doesn’t matter. We have enough CPU and memory that a few extra services doesn’t really make a dent anymore. And disk space is cheap and abundant these days.

Some of these were free or aren’t available directly on Steam. Beyond that, I rely on other programs, and my motherboard drivers likely don’t have Linux support.
On top of that, I draw and use Clip Studio Paint, which might require Wine or working in the terminal to get it running on Linux. This adds extra steps and increases the chance of instability compared to just using Windows.
Honestly, I dislike Windows-especially the newer versions-but I despise Linux even more, both because of the general annoyance of using any distro and the attitude of some in the community.

Maybe one day we'll have an actual distro that would be as easy to use and reliable as Windows 7 was. Mint and zorin kind of go in to that direction, sometimes. Until you try to use some more obscure program. Which definition can be anything, including Notepad Next, an old Videogame like win95 games, or stuff like the Creamapi.
The C-API is literally specified in the C standard, Windows is the OS whose compiler doesn't even fully support C11.

Unfortunately, that app has actually been removed from most distros these days, even bloated ones.
That is actually hilarious
Is there a way to get rid of virtual memory in the kernel and use physical memory instead ?

@@henry789 u can disable a lot of stuff and modern CPUs will handle most bloat that comes stock with windows
not really. Its a huge business expense to shill out for the extra ram needed to run windows 10/11 when your talking dozens of computers.
