Exactly. I don’t know the reason for the long wait to indict. There is full video evidence of the whole darn Uvalde police response with audio. I may not know much about the law. And I wouldn’t doubt that it’s much harder to indict a LEO than it is a civilian. But c’mon! Two years!
How many investigations do you think are going on at any time? How many investigators do you think there are for the whole district attorney's office? It took the time it took.
Pete Arredondo is not the only coward that should face charges. What is the point of responding at all if the cops we expect to protect our kids are just standing around in the hall the whole time until its too late? I mean, if thats all the cops are going to do, then they should have let the parents in the building to rescue their kids. Where was SWAT? Where were the non-lethals such as flash bangs? They didn't even think to use police dogs to distract the shooter? Arredondo is not the only one at fault. The fact that he's only looking at 2 years is a travesty of justice.
Irony is the Sergeant of the City SWAT unit was part of the first group into the building. I don't blame LEO for retreating when fired on. What is disturbing was the cluster [bleep] follow on response. He should have immediately regrouped and gotten the appropriate resources, instead deferred to Arrendono who remained on the opposite side of the building. As pointed out in reports they failed to use distracting techniques such as blowing an outside window and tossing in flashbangs. It was not a lack of equipment. It was a lack of commitment.
Imagine living in a country like this, where incidents like these happen over and over and over again, like in Columbine or in Sandy Hook - just because you people have an extremely perverted view on firearms and think that your "rights" are being violated, unless you have access to firearms that can fire hundreds of rounds per minute. EXTREMELY difficult to understand 😞 😞 😞
Imagine not having an AR-15 proof shield an entering a dark room, trough a door and then slipping on the blood of other police officers and still not able to know where the shooter is. Then firing like crazy and bullets ricocheting and killing some of the injured kids, and having commander hindsight saying that you should had waited until you had an AR-15 shield to go in.
While I agree police officers are humans too. Calling them cowards is stretch. The issue was terrible planning not so much fear. I’m 100% positive that most of the cops in this situation would have acted differently if they would have just had some leadership. Especially when the initial officers arrived.
