I really enjoyed the Bernthal version but I really wish we got to see a deeper version of Thomas Jane’s version - they guy is such a great performer. 😊
Thomas Jane is seriously an amazing actor. So many great roles. The Punisher was obviously a great role, but even in roles like the Stephen King's The Mist, that was a great movie. Then you have other great performances in roles, like The Expanse. One of the Greatest Sci-fi shows in recent times. Well done, Thomas.
He was absolutely fabulous in the 2004 Punisher movie. I especially like how he put in the time to change his physique to such a fit shape. Really made the Punisher character so much more believable. Great job.
Thomas Jane is an awesome actor who sadly been I feel been sacked from the limelight for wrong reasons. The Mist, Deep Blue Sea, Dreamcatcher etc. are other great ones he was in. Jane was great as Frank Castle aka The Punisher both in the movie and sequel video game. Too vad we never got too see him continue the role. Ray Stevenson was good for the action scenes, but Jane was better as the character overall.
I gave him that hat!!!! I had one in Knoxville and he loved it! So, I sent him one! Great to see him wearing it!!! He’s the best! Love the show and the interview! Great job!
While I thought he was great in the role, he was still far too good looking. Frank Castle should should have miles on his face and the grimace of death incarnate. Ray Stevenson had the right face for it. Shame he lacked the charisma or it factor and was in a mess of a movie.
Thomas Jane never minces words, I love this guy. I found out from Kristonkino's excellent review of Dirty Laundry, that the whole short film has a Sergio Leone western structure and for a fistful of dollars in particular.
It’s so weird to hear his actual thoughts on his character, damn that’s weird, but good kinda weird! Someone help Thomas jane make an old man punisher movie!!!
Just rewatched "The Punisher" (2004) last night and it was such a treat to revisit this video of yours with Thomas. Miss you guys. Fingers crossed for the big comeback.
The extended version of Punisher 04 is first great comic book movie of the modern age,it fills in all the little holes that the cinematic release left open.
He is the best Punisher hands down. So much potential. I love the extended cut version better. If that was in the theaters the movie would have made its money and got another film.
He's my punisher. I have a soft spot for jon bernthal. But jane he's amazing. I love that movie. I hate that it was filmed in Florida. He was always in new york but besides that still my favourite Punisher 💀
awesome interview! this answers a lot of questions I had about this film. Thomas Jane was the best punisher and clearly an awesome and passionate guy about what he does.
Dude, Dirty Laundry was one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen!!! I was always angry that there was never a follow-up Punisher based upon the style of that short. Man, what could have been! OG Thomas Jane Punisher was still top notch in my book. Maybe Jane could do a Punisher The Later Years version like Batman. That would be sick.
Man you can really tell how passionate Jane was/is about that movie as well as Dirty Laundry. He seems like a real down to earth guy to boot. Loved when he played the homeless man on Arrested Development 🤣. But in all seriousness, you can tell that the Jane Punisher had far more potential than it had lived up to, and Dirty Laundry proved it. Still, Jane's Punisher is prolly my fav.
I have watched The Punisher at least 12 times, and I know I will watch it again at any moment. T. Jane is an awesome actor, so unique, and so talented. Thank you for the interview. By the way I think it was him riding a bike this afternoon by my neighborhood...
Ahhh man, that was really cool. He's a real one, and I think that translates into his role as Frank. Imagine a world where the original did much better financially, and the sequel went hard R, and got a significant boost in budget, with Jane reprising his role...would've been a game changer. Thanks fellas, awesome stuff 👍
Thomas Jane, deserved so much more. Always thought that it will be a sequel with him, because the movie was so and still badass, and nothing... that's a shame! Is an underrated actor, deserves more. Hollywood what are you doin'???
Thomas Jane might just be the most charismatic guy in Hollywood. He seems like the most down to Earth guy you could meet and to this day I think his movie Give 'Em Hell Malone is the finest modern day noir movie ever made. You can feel the passion in Jane's voice for this kind of material.
I saw where you were going with the first movie, so disappointed when you 17:04 didn't do the 2. Either way you're portrayal was on point and you should still do it.
I need to start by saying that i fu**ing LOVE Jon Bernthal & I've actively followed his career since TWD... That being said, nobody can top Thomas Jane's Punisher. The story is far from accurate & Trevolta cheeses up the film big time..but Thomas perfectly encapsulates everything that made Frank Castle intriguing to me as a kid reading the comics. He's bitter, angry, resentful, and ashamed. But he's also calm, calculated, methodical, & patient. The phycological war he wages against his enemies & his unpredictable soft spot for the downtrodden never fails to impress/inspire me.
I agree 100% with what Thomas Jane mentioned here about the score. It just didn't fit the film. You have this revenge story and yet in many instances, there's this cheesy, overpowering, superhero-esque score that doesn't make sense. It definitely dragged the movie down tremendously.
In another comments section somebody stated that the Director either delibratley left out or denied having this cheesy rock song that was supposed to be at the very end of the movie when Frank is on the bridge and it fades to black. He instead opted for the eerie wind blowing in the background
Jane has always been one of my favorite actors and it’s amazing to me that he’s not a bigger star than he is. But his numerous roles over the years, including “The Punisher”, really left their mark. The Punisher, The Myst & Deep Blue Sea are favorites of mine. Another underrated (but great) film he did was called “61” which was about the home run race that year between Mickey Mantle and his teammate Roger Marris. He played Mantle in it and he did a fabulous job. On a side note… He always plays kinda cool, quiet and suave guys in his films. So I was pleasantly surprised at how down to earth he is in this interview.
I actually really like the 04 score. But i'd like to see the cut with 2/3 silent score. Loved dirty laundry. Marvel should give their heads a wobble and get jane back for an older punisher asap. Let him direct it

Thomas Jane wasn't in Swordfish. That was Hugh Jackman.
@@brianharper1611 Oh that is true! Dang, I was msure it was Jane, but no it was Jackman.
I gave him that hat!!!! I had one in Knoxville and he loved it! So, I sent him one! Great to see him wearing it!!! He’s the best! Love the show and the interview! Great job!
I loved him as the Punisher. He definitely had the look down.
While I thought he was great in the role, he was still far too good looking. Frank Castle should should have miles on his face and the grimace of death incarnate. Ray Stevenson had the right face for it. Shame he lacked the charisma or it factor and was in a mess of a movie.
@hugheggs give it another chance. War zone has grown on Me over the years. I initially thought it was sh1t.
Is Thomas Jane smoking a fucking blunt during this interview? 😂 Love it.
🤘
Well, Ennis' Punisher is "the later years." And it's the Punisher that should be on screen. So, yeah -- template's there
@@Matthew-ve7uv that would be bad ass.
Someday i want to know his word on the 2005 game. That was the best adaptation of the Punisher.
Yeah, too bad T-Jane didn't get another run at it. Happy you enjoyed our sit down!
found that bit about the musicless previewing so interesting
filmmaking is so nuanced so intricate it's fascinating
He did an awesome job.Why didn't they bring him in for the second movie? They never asked him that
Seen the punisher in theatres when i was about 12 for my bday and i still absolutely love the movie to this day.
Thomas Jane, deserved so much more. Always thought that it will be a sequel with him, because the movie was so and still badass, and nothing... that's a shame! Is an underrated actor, deserves more. Hollywood what are you doin'???
Probably my favorite Punisher movie, watched it probably a dozen times while other kids were watching Nemo
Thomas Jane might just be the most charismatic guy in Hollywood. He seems like the most down to Earth guy you could meet and to this day I think his movie Give 'Em Hell Malone is the finest modern day noir movie ever made. You can feel the passion in Jane's voice for this kind of material.
Give em hell Malone was great
I saw where you were going with the first movie, so disappointed when you 17:04 didn't do the 2.
Thomas Jane was always my Punisher. He was MY Frank Castle.
I liked the main theme.
I want thomas jane to return in deadpool 3
When he gets up there and starts opening up, that song was my favorite, I listen to it when I play games sometimes.
My favorite Punisher.
You and me both
I love this film and it’s a great shame that Thomas hasn’t had the opportunity to do another one
Laundry day is goated
Thomas Jane, one of my favorite underrated actors...I think he's still got alot in the basement, can't wait to see his future roles.
Jane, ever since boogie nights I have been following him. Love the guy all around. Sweetest thing with my wife, hung etc, always following.
Damn.. this guy is real. Very refreshing to see.
Right! No bullshit.
What a cool interview. Thank you for putting it out
Thanks buddy! Happy you dug it.
Thomas Jane really had quite a few roles that are simply legendary.
Really appreciate what you boys do!
Love Thomas in everything he has done.
Great actor! Loved him in all his roles.
he is the best Punisher
Thanks for taking the time to actually shed some light on this. I appreciate your effort! 👍
loved his Punisher, and his role in Dreamcatcher. it seems like almost everyone in Dreamcatcher are underrated as actors.
I actually really like the 04 score. But i'd like to see the cut with 2/3 silent score.
Loved dirty laundry.
Marvel should give their heads a wobble and get jane back for an older punisher asap. Let him direct it
Off to go rewatch dirty laundry
Thomas Jane is a great actor, and his is definitely the best punisher movie.
great interview, love Thomas as the Punisher
Thomas Jane is my Punisher. I love that movie, it's the only one that holds up
The Punisher 2004 put both The Punisher and Tom Jane on my radar. Loved TJ ever since.
