I am a car news editor in China. As far as I know, many of Viking's information is incorrect. I put forward some of the information I got:
1. BYD didn't cut its price recently. It began to offer preferential prices gradually last December;
2. BYD currently has about 300000 undelivered orders;
3. Tesla's sales growth in China has slowed or stagnated, and the order volume is not ideal. The sales volume of model3 has declined rapidly, with more than 70% of the sales volume coming from modely;
4. The whole market is falling. The main reason is that more and more manufacturers are reducing prices. Consumers think that the price of cars will be reduced in the next few months, so they are not in a hurry to buy;
5. About 90% of manufacturers' sales are declining, and Honda, Nissan and Haval are among the major manufacturers. BYD, Tesla and Li are among the few manufacturers that are still growing.
he has a narrative of being pro-tesla and BYD is smashing Tesla in numbers, he doesnt like it.

@@Notme-tq4xs In China, both Tesla and BYD are reducing prices, and Tesla has a larger range. Some people give up BYD and order Tesla, but the number is not large. In fact, more people think that EVs will continue to reduce prices, so they are still waiting, whether it is BYD or Tesla.
Cutting prices to get more order from the people that are thinking of buying petrol powered car. Getting orders from VW, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and etc. Hitting a killer blow to the oil car companies while they still have not get their act together. With the target for 2023 set at 4 million for BYD. All the other oil company will have to lose at least 2.2 milion cars.
I personally think that there are three reasons for BYD's price reduction: the cost reduction caused by the price drop of lithium, the intensified market competition caused by Tesla's price reduction, and the cessation of the Chinese government's subsidy for consumers to buy electric cars, resulting in the need for manufacturers to carry out a certain degree of reduce prices to make up for the extra cost of consumers.

BYD Company has issued a statement that the official price has not been lowered, and it is the dealer's personal behavior. Chinese consumers know that BYD will launch upgraded versions of several models this year, and they are waiting and watching. The dealers are doing promotions at this time.
It would be great if there was full disclosure when people write articles on any media showing who was paying them. You just can’t trust most writers anymore.

@Rex Nissan hold my beer! 600,000 Nissan Leaf sold and not a single proven battery fire, yes there is one on UA-cam somewhere but no one knows the cause. However there was a BYD with that blade battery catching fire days after its crash. So no battery is perfect not even the Blade battery that used a tiny nail to try and prove its the safest battery, when I saw a UA-cam video showing one guy using a screwdriver on a fully charged Leaf pouch battery and he did not just stab it one time he stabbed it multiple times! And it still held its voltage, then he tried to burn it with a blow torch again it unfortunately failed to catch on fire 😞

Apple sells far fewer phones than the android phone makers, at the same time Apple makes more money than all the android phones makers combined. It isn't about quantity, it is about how much margin you make on each unit. It takes zero talent to make mountains of does the job products, it takes real talent to make a product everyone wishes to buy.

By what mean? Volkswagen Group is still struggling with too many issues and prices are not competitive in comparison with Tesla and Hyundai Groups cars. So in Europe still after Dieselgate and mediocre Audi, VW, Seat or Skoda EV - always in relation of prices asked for - the believers still think to make a good deal. 🤪 After what this company made to Diesel industry, owners of their products and innovative small companies with new engines etc. why should I ever buy from them anything again? But seemingly people have very short memories and are still to impress by much tricky advertising and fake tests by paid journalists.

This is local dealers cutting prices for a month before the new model arrives, not a BYD MSRP cut or a corporate temporary cut. Many dealers do this (especially if there are major improvements coming).
For reference BYD was the best selling NEV brand in China in January, selling 5 times as many cars overall as Tesla and 2.5 times as many pure BEV's (even with the Tesla corporate price cuts). BYD was the second best selling brand in the country overall, behind VW and had the best selling car (BYD Song). So, while the Chinese market overall might be softening, BYD currently is in a strong position.
Still waiting for BYD to breakout their EV sales on their quarterly financials.

I checked a comment on another youtube video today, it is said the rusty atto 3 is a crushed car and left at home for months.
Anyway, 3 pictures of a rusty part are not a strong evidence of what cause it. Also it is hard to beive that the No.1 EV seller have this horrible car making.

This is very simple why they reduce their price. The chinese government remove the subsidies for NEV a few weeks ago. So, USA is taking the lead at the moment for subsidizing the entire EV industry

Viking is resorting to an attack on BYD simply cus even seasoned investors like Charlie bunger stating BYD is champion. There are no other reports of rusting so please he wants to create a narrative but nobody is buying it.

Papa Pig: Compared to most of the competitors' EV stocks, BYD has been relatively calm for years now. Not sure why that is, unless their lack of transparency re breaking out their financials (Chinese company, after all) makes investors more wary about bidding up their price on good EV manufacturing news for them.
But I've certainly noticed the same thing.
If it were a US or European stock and I had confidence all their business dealings and financials were reasonably accurate and transparent, then there could be great value there. As it is, who knows?
All this is just IMO, of course.

He's totally bias,! it's an entertainment show, but if you are going to pump Tesla, then ethically you need to say you hold stock in the company. If these numbers are true, no reason why BYD is not worth $160 right now. But what about the rust issue you mentioned, no impact?

It's not even a huge issue. Every car company has it's issue. Tesla had recall their car multiple times with it's own issue.

Presumably they'll fix it, but IMO, it doesn't inspire confidence in their source metal or their processes (depending on where the source of the issue is).
And if it's just surface rust, that still should NOT happen in cars under a year old.

Nope, its because of the US-China tariffs and the IRA for domestically produced batteries. Much better to take out the rest of the world and leave the US as a last dish to be devoured. If the US goes after BYD, Tesla is a dead man walking in China, as will be GMs share of Wuling, Berkshire Hathaways share of BYD. We will see GM assembling small EVs in the US from kits from Wuling in China within a few years - a great way to compete with Tesla's "$25,000" car (still waiting for the $35,000 one) sometime in 2025.
@@thedualtransition6070 agree, GM actually have better cards in hand compare to the other 2 former big. It will be up to the management in Detroit to decide how to olay it well or fet screwed over. Ford is in not too bad position either, they can negotiate a deal with their Chinese partern to get some tech transfer for part to electrify their products in North America. Chrysler group is in pretty big trouble, because their tech are from Renault line( same as Nissan) renault ev is not so advance nor competetive in European market either. But, here is the thing.

Correct, except that Note 7 problem was real and this rust problem seems to be an isolate case. Its certainly not at a level Viking wants it to become. There is nothing on google.

I was unimpressed with the Atto 3 and Dolphin. The interior bling looked stupid. They charge slow. Software is unsatisfactory, They don't invest in super charging. They don't have FSD as an option. The extra $15k Australian for a Model 3 is well worth it IMO.
Charging stations are national infrastructure。BYD's car charges faster than Tesla in the complete charging process。The Tesla is only on high power for the first few minutes and then back down。
The Atto III is only 400,-- less than the Model Y Standard in Europe.
