    I applied for shared benefits (extended). So I basically wanted my husband to have sometime with the baby as well. How does this work. So far I got approved for my maternity and parental. And I am not sure if my husband can take sometime off from work to stay with the baby with me for 2-3 weeks at least.

    Hi I literally stop working from1/26 but I’ll still get paid by using my vacation pay until 2/26 (finial payment date in Mar.) should I apply my maternity EI from 2/27? And my last of work show on my ROE should be 2/26 correct? Thanks

    Hi
    I am working full time and 12 week pregnant. I want to leave the job and start something as independent contractor where i can work from home. My question is will i get maternity leave starting from 5th July?
    I think I have to pay EI premiums if I work as an independent contractor but it says benefits start after one year. Please guide me.

    Hi is it necessary to work during my pregnancy as I don’t want to risk of going out and work as if I don’t want to go for work from day 1 still I can apply for my maternity leave?

    Supposing you qualify for maternity leave (you worked 600 hours) ..Is your employer obliged to keep you in the same position and title when coming back from maternity leave?

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  5 років тому +1

      Yes. The employer must hold the position for you so that when you return you are in the same position or something nearly identical. You can not get demoted or receive less pay because of maternity. Hope this helps :)

    Is this the same all across Canada and all of the Provinces?

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  4 роки тому

      SonnieMarie Pyle it is similar but not 100% the same. For example, Quebec is covered under their own maternity leave so this would not apply to them

    Is I am able to apply for maternity leave if I quit my job before applying maternity?

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  4 роки тому

      Jaswinder Kaur yes you may still be eligible for maternity and parental leave if you voluntarily quit your job. Check out this website for more info www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/ei/ei-list/quit-job.html
      Best of luck! ☺️

    once you're approved, do you get paid weekly/biweekly/monthly?? do you get money deposited into your account every week or ???

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  5 років тому +1

      AMC you have to wait a couple weeks to get approved. Once you get approved you will get a letter in the mail with an access code that you can log on to the Service Canada account and set up your direct deposit. Once this happens, you get bi-weekly direct deposits into your account. Hope this helps :)

      @@mjb2680 I have been approved for it I think? its been five weeks since I applied and they paid for all of five weeks except the waiting period. Now I'm not sure if I'm only getting paid for five weeks or 35 weeks. It says on my "latest claim details"
      weeks of parental benefits paid: 5
      weeks of parental benefits requested : 35
      total weeks paid: 5
      last report processed: Nov 17th, 2019-Nov 23, 2019.
      like am I only getting paid for 5 weeks or???

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  5 років тому

      AMC no you’ll be paid for 35 weeks + 15 weeks. The way the government breaks down the year maternity leave is 15 weeks maternity leave and 35 weeks parental leave. So so far you have been paid for 5 of the 15 weeks :) after the 15 weeks is done you’ll automatically move into “parental leave”. Does that make sense? ☺️

      @@mjb2680 well I'm not on maternity leave. I'm just on parental leave. I'm just confused as to how it is set up on MSCA...

    Is it a necessity to complete three months or the 600hours with a single employer or can we switch jobs?
    Presuming if we worked in multiple companies in a year so how will our maternity and pay be calculated?

    • @mjb2680
      @mjb2680  5 років тому

      Thanks so much for watching! Depending on the province that you live in the answer will change. Most likely you have to work with the same employer for the 600 hours but check with the Ministry of Labour in your region.
