Got it a few times. The most recent one I got, I threw a random name out and he said yes he is xxx and changed his number.
I replied with "Oh no wonder I couldn't contact you, you havent returned me $50 you borrowed last month eh."
He immediately hung up.

Excellent, please help to educate more people. Not only telling them NOT to transfer money to strangers, also don’t be greedy and NEVER NEVER click on any links even they say they are the Ministers!!! It’s better to err on the wrong side rather than to regret afterwards by losing (all) your hard earned money due to greed and/or stupidity…
Thanks for sharing, i would like To share more:- pls jot down / screenshot the banking information scammers gave you and report it to the police. Police need this bank account information to trace the scammers

Thanks for this, Kelvin! Personally received this call 3-4 times since more than a year back. Reported Police after the first time with the bank account and mobile number, but not subsequent times. It seems these are usually linked to debtors or are criminally attained. The latest call was to my wife and it was a lady scammer.. seems they might be switching up to gender matching 🙄
Thanks for sharing Kelvin. My family member fell for the very same scam. He lost about 5000 that he could never get back. Sometimes it's a bit of luck also. He just so happen to have a friend who sound exactly like the scam caller. Just unlucky so he fell for it. Every bit of awareness raised will help. ✌
Hopefully people should know. Always verify with the person you think the caller is (on their old number). If you don't have their number already, it likely mean it's an old friend you don't contact anymore (or they ghosted you long ago), the more you shouldn't send the money 🤣🤣

Omg. Thanks for sharing. Strange is that I received this sort of call twice. Once like yours and it is in a particular accent. Second it’s from a colleague at work!!! He kept calling saying the same stuff yours did. He lost his phone twice! 2 different business ventures. But he didn't ask me for money maybe because I don't pick up his phone call subsequently. He had resigned from work. Until now I haven't tols anyone at work.
Even real friend I wont lend $2000 😅 😂

Wherever i received scam messages or calls, i just simply asked them how much money they want so that i can "burn" some across......😂

I received the same call 2 days ago, also a Chinese guy with Malaysian accent. Same story about changing phone number, refused to say who he is and even sound disappointed that i don't recognise his voice. Hang up immediately.

This totally sounds like the scam call I picked up! Except his new cafe with his friend is at Vivocity LOL. At first I really thought it was someone I knew (because I don't recall names unless I am farmiliar with the person). He even made me sounds so guilty for not lending him the money😠

Received a message scam from same account few months apart, like who starts chat with just a hello. Just asked person for my old address and "she" doesn't know.
yah got this a few weeks back, then the next day he called up to ask for money because his transaction limit reached. i asked for video call or meet up then he hung up.

I got this exact same Malaysian call many months ago, and twice somemore....first time nearly believe him, till the said want to borrow money. Sorry I never lent money to anyone. EVER!

Actually when the scammers register for all these phone numbers they have to submit personal details right? By reporting these numbers to the police can they track the scammers down?
yeah i encountered this. I also dont have friends too. but hor when i took the call, super annoyed by the caller who cant even give me his name when i asked him for it. keep telling me you know who i am lor.... basket should have tried how you talk, so i can also pre record and talk about it

I received the same call but the guy hung up after I can’t tell who is him. I can assure it is calling from a Malaysian. He ended the call with a vulgar word. LOL
Always set very low withdrawal limits. Paylah 200 is more than enough and no auto top up. Banks will detect abnormal withdrawals because scammers will always try big amounts first.
Also, isn't it about time for cpfb to enable a withdrawal limit in their settings?
I contracted CPF by phone and in person abt 2 months ago. Almost like pleaded with CPF to reduce the limit; not to allow online withdrawals in the late night or early mornings (I mean, who will make huge withdrawals at such times?) ; withdrawals only during office hours; not to allow multiple withdrawals; and even instruct CPF to suspend online withdrawals for my account. The CPF did not take any of my suggestions. Their reply is that they had enhanced security via face recognition and advised me to exercise caution when downloading apps.
If everyone who received such calls, give a 'greeting' to the caller's family, father, mother. It might result in them questioning their life choices.
Did you report that pay now number to police as money mule. So can shutdown their operation.

Pls send the account he gave you to the police. The account is a scam account they used to launder the money. Hope the police can trace back to the scammers.

I just received this similar call yesterday sounds like my ex-colleague spoke with Malysian’s Chinese accent (usually speak English) said recently open a manicure store and asked if i am keen to join them for a buffet next week. And told me she lost her wallet and mobile phone. This morning called me again said her manicure goods has arrived and if i can help to transfer $3,800 to her supplier and send me his contact. I was hesitating cause it is not a small sum. In the end she keep calling me and texted me her supplier is waiting. i have 6 missed call. I almost fall for it. Tks for your sharing and reminder
