Hey Double T, I came across your video today that just might be the answer to my situation. Purchased my first boat a couple months ago with a 2018 Mercury 40hp 4 stroke ELPT and I would like to change the impeller to ensure it is in good shape. Like you, I could not find anything on UA-cam video that matched my motor showing how the linkage was connected and how to set it free for the lower case removal. So, I will head over to the local boat shop today and hopeful they will have a new impeller in stock. I appreciate very much your time and effort for making and uploading this video. THANK YOU!
Do you have a part number for a water impeller kit that includes gaskets, wear plates , impeller and all? I found one on Amazon that said it would fit a 40hp 4 stroke but it didn’t. It did however have the correct gasket so I used it and put it all back together. Thanks for your videos by the way. They are huge help.

No but if you get the serial number and plug it into the mercury parts website it will give you all the part numbers, thanks for watching!!
So remove the 4 bolts then the trim tab and then a lock nut and wiggle the whole unit out of the housing ?Oh and mark the TT location.
Don’t forget to take the shift rod nut loose, Yes be careful it comes out abruptly
Any tips on putting it back together?
Another set of hands helps lifting it back in place, I struggled by myself
