The app previously known as "Your Phone" has been rebranded as "Phone Link," and I've successfully installed it. However, I've noticed that while the messaging, calling, and photo options are available, as demonstrated in your video, there appears to be no feature that allows me to use my phone's apps through this application. Can you please guide me as to why this essential feature seems to be missing in my case?
I don't know if you managed to fix it or find it, but so far, what I have seen is that you can only access apps and other features if you own a Samsung Galaxy, Oppo or Oneplus phones..I think Honor too.
Leila Sayeeda, You didn't mention at the start of your video that the number of features for a regular Android smart phone are extremely limited. The most important feature, mirror the phone on the desktop and control every app of the smart phone from the desktop is only -with this "Your phone app" - within reach for Samsung users. You do mention a Samsung device though and '' hopefully in the future more features become available for regular Android devices", not to mention the extreme limitations of the "your phone app" for I-phones used by at least more then half of the smart phone consumers... It would be helpful for viewers of your video also presenting a couple of (open source) alternatives, such as scrcpy (Screen Copy), that is freeware, doesnt require to install an app on the smart phone and gives you full control over the Smart phone from the desktop plus allows you to project multiple smart phone devices on the desktop. You know, MS got where it did today because of how cheap they made the OS (for windows Desktop, way back in the early days). This allowed for market saturation. Since more people in their homes had MS, businesses would even deploy MS in the work environment (less cost to train people on an OS they are already familiar with). Can you imagine if you were opening a business and didn't have the ability to support or purchase OS's to account every different employees preference (the bottom line adds up). MS should have continued that marketing strategy with Windows Phone. Android, in part(put aside the google money maker), is where it is today because of how much cheaper it was to make software on it's platform. When you think of software companies writing apps for platforms - if it cost you 2 arms and 2 legs to write your app for an OS and either - your demographic on that platform or the platforms saturation isn't there -> then it isn't worth the money to write the app. Think of that like a poison. I brought all that up just to add: It's crazy how Apple doesn't want certain staples of their platform on other platforms (like FaceTime or iMessage to be available outside of an idevice). People use Apps like Discord/Zoom/Skype/WhatsApp..... because they are cross platform. Not including your platforms staples to other platforms limit your company's reach. I myself have been using an iPhone for ~ 7 years..... and for the past few years, the hardware for Androids seem to be better. I have thought about switching to Android; and as time goes on, the benefits Apple has for me gets smaller and smaller. As of this post, the only feature I would like a 'natively' equivalent of on an Android is -> Apples 'Find My'. Seems funny, thinking about how big tech collects so much information about us, why wouldn't an Android have something like that natively.
