@K.M.V S reversed world, they are not difficult here because 99% is normally eaten. And if you raise one then release it in a private pond that is just allowed. but not in the wild that is punishable.
@KMV S We also have no idea if they never eat a cat, the record is 138cm in the Netherlands. But I don't eat with saltwater fish either. I'm allergic to it haha 😆
I had a baby about the size of a gold fish grab hold of my spoon lure I think was bigger than the pike, I didn't land it as it got the lure off. It was thrashing about really quickly, those little pikes are like lightning.
I've recently caught a baby pike and have him in one of my aquariums , my question is....how big of a tank do you need for them? I'm sure he's going to overgrow this one which is a 58 litre
@@wardproductions2071 near abouts where I live there is a small rock pool connected underground to a nearby river. There was hundreds upon hundreds of baby pike right up at the waters edge. So I used a jar🤣 you have to gently herd them into it with the lid
@@wardproductions2071 It happened to me during a carp fishing accident. I had to have water for the unhooking mat. And I looked in the bucket there was a small pike!
My pike( 9 inch ) have very little reaction on food( especially dead fish) it been 1week since i brought him. Also it wont eat dead one ... its in temporary tank which is bit too small for him (I will move it to bigger pond). It doesnt react too much for the food but still eatin well. I just want it to be more aggresive on food so it is easy feed it. Is it because of the small space,? Will it be better when it is in bigger pond?
Like every fish the like space, but dead fish you need to wiggle it that it looks alive 😅🤣. Pikey I had to train to when he started to eat dead fish. With plant tongs you can put a small fish in between and wiggle it. But if the don't eat not much the are stressed.
I have a pike as a pet too he's a pretty big juvenile too about 25cm I think he's also very aggressive and by the way try teaching your pike to eat worms if you don't have any fishes left so put a few worms in the tank every day and as your pike sees there are no fishes to eat he will see the perch eat the worms which will gradually reach him to eat worm but it will take a few days, weeks or months to teach him but good luck teaching your pike to eat worm if there are no fishes left
@@misconceptions5613 yes off course, I stay also with a article on nvn koi magazine. About the pike 4 pages with the story. But it’s Dutch 😅. If you look on Facebook mg pink angler you see more.
Do you have to feed them live food? I in the process of setting up tank for my baby pike but want to know what foods tp start him off with, thinking maybe maggot and small worm to begin with then up it to dead fish, also how often do you feed? As buying lives is expensive 🤣
From 2-20 cm I feed him live food because he don’t take dead at that age. after that I learn him to eat dead fish takes a little bit practice 😆. If he’s baby 2-30 he eats every day like 3,4 fish. Than 2,3 fish ones a week big ones 15 cm if he’s 40-53cm
Ur doing something I've wanted to do forever & will probably always want to do. My tank is only 450litre & I've decided it's not even big enough for perch. Doubt I'll ever have a tank or pond big enough. So I'll just have to watch ur videos. Next best thing. My favourite lure BTW, is a pink polcadot fox Slinky Junior with hooks swapped to VLC Red. Though I don't fish anymore. ✌️🧡 P.S. I owe my life to Esox Lucius.
AcidAndy RFC Good that you are aware that 450 liters is too small. Most people only think of their own and not of the fish. Our aquarium is 600 liters, but we also have 2x 1000 liters outside. I don't know what lures you say pink polcadot fox Slinky Junior? But if you ever have the chance to grab a pike, it's really so beautiful and fun to see how she hunts.

Northern pike is sum goooood mf fish especially from Ontario waters
They were easy to catch in ponds and lakes in the U K back in the 60s anyway maybe things have changed
Beautiful fish nothing like having them as baby’s and seeing them grow
