    If you use super Napier grass at 4 to 5 meters high at harvest, can you add 20kg of dry material such as hay to 50kg of super Napier grass. Also can this be made into a pellet feed. I raise goats and sheep, it's a little bit different than raising cows. I know goats can handle super Napier, sheep May need more dry matter. I need your opinion on this please.

      When nappier gets to such height it deteroriates in nutrition value.
      Yes you can mix but mix at the right stage of harvest.
      You can make a Total mixed ration and pellet it but ensurr the moisture content is good

    Greeting, Paul thanks for the info. But I am a but confused most videos about this high breed grasses the super Napier, the juncao grasses encourage farmers to harvest at about 4m, saying the crop is highly palatable and steams also will be nutritious. But when it come to the local Napier I have no dispute 1-1.5 m is the sweet spot.

      To be sure cut a portion at 1M and feed selected cows for 10days. Then select another portion with 4 m high and feed the same cows for another 10 days. Record the milk for both sessions and see which produces more. Something try yourself

    100kg = 30% how about 15% ? Or you mean what

      He means for example that a cow needs to eat 3% of its total body weight. If a cow is 500kg, 3% of 500kg is 15kg.This means that cow per day requires 15kg of dry matter.Assume you are feeding on maize silage which is assumed to contain 30% dry matter.This means that for every 100kg of maize silage, 30kg is dry matter.Your 500kg cow needs 15kg of dry matter per day.For you to get amount of maize silage your 500kg cow will eat per day, you will say, if for every 100kg of silage contains 30kg dry matter, how many kg of silage will contain 15kg dry matter? That will be (100*15)/ 30=50kg.Meaning you need to feed 50kg of maize silage per day your 500kg cow.
