      Ola! It's not a good amp but is really good for one specific sound... in parallel a 4x12 recto cab + marshall head so it just adds a little tiny texture... Only If youre playing doom though, only doom and sludge, and uh, sludgecore?... I have a mesa recto 4x12 and modded marshall style head with a mesa simulclass power amp so don't think i'm some noob with no perspective... Crank enough to get the speaker grinding, use a thick fuzz pedal (behringer superfuzz or a big muff), use your 7 string detuned, and play 100 bpm or lower! It can make some gnarly doom tones
      By the way, the tubescreamer lets a bit of clean signal through too, little known fact

    My first amp! Oh, the memories. I was so clueless, and I thought just because it had the word Fender on the front made it a high end amp. It came in a pack with a guitar, picks, strap, tuner and all kinds of stuff. It was a great Christmas. Then I heard a real Fender Twin and realized there was some room for improvement...

      and yes it is great that there are things out there that just sounds really different and has specific uses. One could probably incorporate this amp in a heavy chugg tone and get something quite unique.
      As a matter of fact, sometimes when I do track guitar I have the mix on my interface set to let a few % of the clean DI signal go through, just in case there is any lag. Then, after, when I listen to the pure tone I sometimes miss that DI tone mixes in ever so slightly. This amp could prob be used for that kind of tone.

  • @Bleats_Sinodai
    @Bleats_Sinodai 3 роки тому +8

    The reason why it sounds like a clean signal and a distorted one mixed is because of the way they do clipping. They're using soft clipping and driving it hard with a very clean signal.
    You can achieve a similar effect by using a clean booster before an overdrive being powered with 18v.

    my first amp. for my 18th Birthday my parent bought me my first electric Guitar. I picked out a MIM Strat in agave blue. it was more then they wanted to spend on my birthday but my mom was feeling generous that day, and knew that the color was my favorite color. i am pretty sure it was the first one i picked up off the wall. this was at Bizarre Guitar in Sparks Nevada. i started worrying about not having an amp to play my new guitar on and i think Bizarre guitar threw this in for free when i bought the guitar, a strap, and had strap locks installed.
    this is the amp that basically killed my desire to play guitar for about 7 years. after years of my guitar collecting dust i decided to buy a new amp. picked up a Vox VT20+ and suddenly i enjoyed playing guitar again.
    now i have about a dozen guitars including Gibsons and Gretsch's and have a Marshal DSL40cr and a Fender Princeton Reverb with 12 inch C-Rex speaker. have upgraded since the days of my Squire Frontman. I actually still have it because i dont know what to do with it. i would feel bad giving it to someone because it is the amp that almost stole the joy of guitar from me..

So if you plugged it into a 12" speaker, you might get some good sounds out of it. Yes it probably requires some simple soldering of two wires on such a small scale combo.

    "Did it chug? Nah." - Ola, 2019

  • @SheaRecordmetal

    That’s the face I make when i try and chug a fender/squier/vox. They fight you every bit of the way trying to cut that “annoying” clean sound out. I tried metal zones, overdrives. They just are not built for it! Great video! If the Rev pedal can’t do it, it can’t be done!

    Everyone: Hey Solar, Ola finally debuted your new 8 string guitar on his channel!

    Your facial expressions for the first two minutes into the Frontman, is pretty funny. I rewound it and watched it while the sound was muted. You looked exactly like the the tourists here in NYC when they're lost and are trying to find their hotel.

    The gain of a non-inverting amplifier is 1 + R2 / R1. If you put clipping diodes in parallel with R2 (effectively making R2 nonlinear in its response), then you have a standard Tube Screamer distortion circuit. But no matter how much clipping you get from R2, there's still that 1 up front, meaning you get the unaffected clean sound simultaneous with the distorted sound. It seems this amplifier uses a similar circuit.

    About 10 years ago I had an Orange Crush 30 watt, but got rid of it because I also heard two signals, the clean and distorted at the same time when I played with the gain up.

    I knew it from the start, it will NOT chug.

      Not only that the 15g 15r use the tda2050 power chip 38 watts this amp is quite loud if you send it to a a quality 4x12 cab. Loud enough to hurt my ears as loud as a drummer but not more.

      I think Ola really wanted to call whatever noise it was making as a "chug". It was the Squier Frontman 10g that tried so hard and failed. It's only intended to get a beginner thru the holidays and breaking the B & skinny E on a Squier Mini Strat though. The entire starter pack is supposed to be on Craigslist by February for $ 40.

    I had a Fender Frontman and Metal Zobe back in the late 90's. That amp left quite an impression on me: I've never bought anything made by Fender since.

    • @analyst774

      to be honest fender is for clean tones and slight OD for some rock tones. anything more and it sounds complete trash.

    I just bought my first electrical guitar from the Squire pack with the 10g amp I’m regretting my choice I should’ve bought the guitar by itself and a better amp I’m 15 and I spent all my life savings for a fart noise amp smh

      Keep it going. We all start somewhere! Try a pedal or two, and keep 'er going. I've played for 30 years(I'm not very good) got my first tube amp 6 years ago. It takes a while.

    • @SPLRAPTOR
      @SPLRAPTOR 4 роки тому +2

      check in at local pawn shops for used amps, i've found a few gems for under $100. if you're computer savvy torrent yourself guitar rig 5 (you can find cracked versions for free), buy an interface (usually around $100 or even less **even a rocksmith cable will work though there is some latency to deal with). and for the guitar you can finance same as cash through zzounds (who does free 2 day shipping) or sweetwater ( no 2 day shipping but will sometimes include a case or have more specials running).
