Big's passing effected Jay greatly. He was in the early recording stages of Vol. 1 when Big passed. So he paid tribute through the opening verse on City is Mine & dedicated the album to Big's memory in the linear notes. Same thing Busta Rhymes did w When Disaster Strikes that year. Big was suppose to be on those albums.
