The Scott Denett trio has great quality beyond the technical skills!!!!! To say it shortly: it really swings!!!!!! Everybody can appreciate their sound! This is great Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just discovered Scott here and was going to congratulate him but then read that he passed away recently. Well, I'm congratulating him anyway as this is an ace performance! Thanks for the music, Scott.
This guy's got all the chops man. Love the way he moves from thumb to pick. This is the best contemporary guitar trio jazz I have heard for a long long time. I mean decades.
I keep coming back to listen to his chops. You can learn it all but some things come naturally, like the feel and phrasing he has for the guitar. Its absolutely amazing.
You're good. Could probably hold your own in the local jazz festival. My guitar teacher whom I always thought of having similar skill sets as Pat Metheny works part time as an office clerk while barely paying his bills. Yes he is more than just good. There is a reason why an insurmountable amount of great guitarists in this world nobody knows about, simply because there is an insurmountable amount of great guitarists in this world.
Thank you for all the positive feedback on this. For the Record I gave a copy of this to every Jazz label on planet earth and not one response. Later found out most just through it in the trash .... haha Anyway its nice to have a self produced project that I own in the can .... still holds up 10 years later. I'm not sure if I will ever make it as a Jazz Artist but on this nite a moment was captured that i can live with. thanks again
Always be yourself then after saying holding down a gig in DC for ten years like i did..you will develop to play your own way! I've stood in Pat Martino's house. Nice cat too!

I like it man. My old man gave some encouraging advice when I was trying break into performing. "Good guitar players are a dime a dozen". I didn't appreciate it at the time but his point was the music business is very tough regardles of how good you are and he was right.
Nice stuff. Scott has a strong, fresh approach. He has lots of interesting ideas and you can see how he pushes himself into challenging and adventurous detours. But he is solidly rooted in the great traditions with great tone and technique. Pat Martino creeps in there a lot.
It's all about conveying your expressions to others in the hopes they may find an escape in the moment. Steve Vai once told me, "People can hear what you feel!" If you can do that, then you've made it....
Its very nice to hear people that stick to there guns&❤ love the chops just keep giving gas eventually the tree will fall. One day u will look back and see the true purpose of your playing the industry people and peace keep just doing what your doing it will fall into place Richard Armenta🐂🐬
im an intermediate at guitar, acoustic. i been playing some songs, now in some kinda new ban environment. got interested in jazz.. this has got to be on some next level. Eventually tho i may reach it and be able to express stuff like that.
Scott P. Denett, 50, of Estero, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2020. He was the son of Paul A. and the late Linda (Paradis) Denett. Scott was born March 12, 1970 in Bethesda, MD at the National Naval Medical Center and grew up in Reston, VA. He graduated from South Lakes High School in Reston and from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music and he then moved to New York City to play jazz. In the 20 years he resided in New York he won several National Jazz Music Awards and played with Dizzy Gillespie as well as Pat Martino. He was a computer consultant for Apple and opened the very first Apple Store in new York City. He was the lead national presenter for Apple on FINAL CUT PRO. He then branched out into his own business, serving as a consultant and servicing computer needs for several billionaire clients. He relocated to Florida in 2015, in order to be closer to his father and help care for him. He continued his computer consulting and playing jazz at various venues, earning a regular rotation playing at the Lighthouse, Burns, and the Peach Pit. He also provided customer services for Artists Naples. Scott had a love and passion for the arts, particularly music. He enjoyed playing jazz guitar, painting playing chess, even producing his own public television show, “Denett’s Trash Can” in New York City. Scott is survived by his father, Paul A. and his wife Lucy Querques Denett of FL, his brother, Michael P. Denett of VA and aunt, Lucille Morton of VA. He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Linda (Paradis) Denett. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 11:00am in Our Lady of Light Catholic Church located at 19680 Cypress View Drive in Fort Myers, FL. In Lieu of Flowers, donations in memory of Scott may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, Our Lady of Light Conference, 19680 Cypress View Drive in Fort Myers, FL , 33967.
Hey! i think you're on to something here - play those octaves with your thumb and get that totally unique sound. wait 'til the people hear that. probably get you a recording contract. (if there are still such things as recording contracts.)
I hear a good degree of talent here. "Making it" in the jazz venue is very hard to do as it is is such a narrow niche. I would recommend going after the jazz festivals at Cape May and other places. The audiences would appreciate your music there.
thank you ..... i bought the NYSD D'Angelico ( Japan Master Built ) for the video and I'm coming right from the line out of the polytone into a metric halo ... all post done in logic audio
Ever since I've uploaded my 172 videos on You tube (Shane London Jazz Video) where I specifically filmed jazz guitarist in 'Groove Sound', I noticed great interest in other people taking up filming other guitarist too. Live performances are not only entertaining but also educational. Good job. The guitar is new solid body model D'Angelico New York.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to make it as a jazz artist these days. People just have no knowledge of the jazz language and don't understand it. If you play a I IV V progression though, you will be famous. It's really a shame that music has been so dumbed down.
What's the saying: 3 chords and a thousand people in the audience for blues 1000 chords and 3 people in the audience for jazz! A bit of an exaggeration but true sorry to say.
Were you playing in San Juan Capistrano in 2006 or 7? I seem to recollect meeting you, briefly. The Guitar, I ask if you bought from Harmonica Brothers in Vista ...Oh, I played in San Juan in those days.
Pat Martino, Wes, and Mark Elf are my favorite guitarists. I think this guy is a good guitarist but mimicking Pat's stance; the way Pat used to stand and twist back and forth, even the interesting way Pat used to float his right hand, sorry I can't get into that. But I understand, I loved Pat too. In my teens back in the 70's I used to parade around with a double neck and wore white clothing like I was John McLaughlin but grew out of that. Great performance though.
This guitar playing is exelent. In fact, this is my favorite jazz sound. Scott, I'd like to see you in Nis, Serbia, perhaps in nisville.com/en/home-2/ jazz festival
