Those aren't actually slotted rotors. They're grooved. True slotted rotors have the slots going all the way through and are for cooling otherwise solid rotors. These rotors (and most OEM rotors on performance cars these days) are not solid, they are "vented" with two solid outer layers and a hollow center section with cooling passages that draw air in the center and expel it out the edges. The grooves on vented rotors like this aren't for cooling so much as for clearing debris and water for quicker recovery in wet and dusty conditions.
It's not $20k for the brakes. $20k includes wheels and tires as well. Also, will the aftermarket brake kits unlock the added speed and performance features? Plus, it includes labor
Tell me your not advertising for mountain pass without telling your advertising for mountain pass 😂 I’m proud to say I own the slowest of all the teslas (model Y LFP battery RWD). Absolutely love it, could only imagine how stupid the plaid is. My fathers performace 3 is absolutely spastic.
Considering a small plaid channel just posted at high brake Temps the car still slows down 100% fine with no abs engagement at 100+mph repeatedly on stock fluid I'd say if you are nuking your brakes on the street you are driving like a madman.
Hi and thank you for always sharing your knowledge. I've been looking for a front splitter for my plaid model S for the longest, and I noticed that Mountain Performance has one on their Model S...but no where on the website do I see a sale section for it. If you know of any front splitter for the S Plaid, please let us know...thanks.
Hi Brian! Thanks for the options - super helpful. Currently considering for my S…. 🤔 On a side note, any chance you can share where you got that awesome wallpaper?
Hi Brian.. so curious have you ever watched SerpentZA on UA-cam? It dawned on me a few vids back that you and he use the same style outro “Stay Awesome”. Totally different vids but similar outs. Interesting.
Tesla charges 20k for them. Some people dont want to spend that kind of money. These are a cheaper alternative that get the job done better than stock.
@@xxZerosumxx The company he talked about here don't provide carbon ceramic brakes which, contrary to what he says about braking performance, DOES absolutely affect brake performance and longevity especially on a track and repeated runs at the dragstrip.
Upgrading brakes for several thousand dollars is not “cheaping out.” Personally, I’m spending $25k on aftermarket mods on my Plaid. For someone like me to add Tesla’s CCB, I would end up at the same cost as a Roadster. A bit ridiculous, don’t you think?!
@@brianw8165 what I meant was if you could spend $140k on a car you might as well spend 20k and upgrade. I am in favor of the upgrade especially through Tesla.
I see your point but I see it as being smart with my money and not overspending on Carbon Ceramic that 99% of people wont notice the benefit of. They just look nice. But I would rather spend a quarter of that and have a better riding, handling and stopping just as good car. Plus have 15K more in the bank. Just because Tesla is selling them doesn't make them better.
@@brianw8165 lol…….. big lol!!! The roadster will come out automatically with carbon ceramic brakes, why do you think the Porsche taycan is so expensive!? The taycan has both lighter wheels, carbon ceramic brakes with 10 piston calipers, all wheel steering and much more.
The reason Unplugged gets the nod from Tesla and Mt. Pass doesn't is because Unplugged actually gives Tesla employees a discount on parts. Talk to your sponsor and tell them to step up their game.
That is not the reason. Mountain Pass has many people with their parts on the cars. Unplugged is in the building next door to the design studio in CA and Mountain Pass is in Canada with only a couple of people running the company. That is why the products don't have that Tesla Tax on them. I think they are a way better company.
I love the beautiful looking products by Mountain Pass Performance! Congratulations Brian and Karen

Awesome stuff and realistic prices ! 🙌🏼🤘🏼
Hi! Have you had a chance to do a 60-0 test compared to the carbon ceramic brakes?
What brand / catalog name brake pads do you recommend?

It was just a google search and full screen for the video
Hi, do Teslas has an HDMI port? Can you plug an fire tv to the Tesla screen?
GIVE US A BRAKE …OPTIONS 🤔…BRIAN THANKS 🤗😍😍😍

Is there some stats showing how the "Easy Big Fella" improve performance on the LR version?
Wait for the class action lawsuits for "What do you mean I need to pay $20k more to unlock 200mph..."
Im sure it will happen
"what do you mean its in the fine print that i didnt read and my lawsuit is worthless?"
Or a lawsuit for PURPOSELY making a car too powerful for the brakes causing deaths from just poor brakes alone.
Are you planning to have that on your Plaid. I was looking to get that.
Yes I will have them and do an install video too
@@i1Tesla Nice Im about to placed an order thru them. But i want to see some installation videos and real world test. Sinced we had the track mode.
4:51, is this your 👀👀
That is not mine but it is the one they are testing everything on. Mine will look like that soon though
Hear me out! What if you could try and swap Porsche taycan carbon ceramic brakes on the plaid!? Could they fit!? Also I think it’s 10 piston caliper.
Imagine spending $150k for the S Plaid, and then having to spend an additional $20k for better brakes...
And Tesla might be cheap for their performance but those breaks are so expensive. Even porsche doesn’t charge that much, they only charge 8k
Taycan which is not even a comparison in performance is still wayy more expensive...
So your telling me Tesla purposely sells cars that are too powerful for the brakes?????
You realise Tesla are going to/if not selling carbon ceramic brakes now right? Why go with aftermarket ones?

can't u just do the 1 pedal driving and let the regenerative breaking just do the braking for you 🤷♂️

Normal driving it’s probably not going to matter, but if you track/race it you’ll see the difference.
Guess you need some tires for 320km/h…?
If only they had anything for the old Model S... ☹️
Also better Tires can improve the break performance

20k for brakes that shouldve been on the vehicle in the first place..Tesla is on some Dirtbag shit!
No kidding. Spend $150k for the car, oh and then another $20k for brakes that should've been on there to begin with.
