EV2 is what the industry needs. A smaller Soul EV, basically. Hope they price it below £25k at top trim level to compete with Chinese brands. EV3 is too big and expensive for a UK market that is already saturated with SUVs. T03 (£16k) is showing what is possible: small EV with decent range and good tech levels for a price that compares directly with ICE, but is much cheaper to run.
Thanks Brian for another update. Good news about the forthcoming Kia EV2, a possible replacement for my wife’s Aygo if it is specified with an Inster size battery pack.
I’ve put on screen links when i discuss them. You can also go from Kia how to landing page youtube.com/@kiahowto?si=O-yWk4QiMa3sfBOR There are also links to these videos in the video description
Will the fact that the EV2 is made in the EU make it significantly cheaper than the Hyundai Inster which is the current most affordable EV from the Hyundai group, but it's made in Korea (AFAIK)? I hope they won't just keep the profits and delay the EV revolution which could be ignited by an EU made real cheap Korean BEV.
Inster is Korean made at the moment as far as I know.Making it in the EU would save transport costs for one. The real key to cheaper EVs is cheaper batteries. If Hyundai can source cheap non Chinese made LFP batteries it would be much cheaper than NMC batteries.I would strongly suspect that the EV2 may be a similar price to the base Inster. It would be nice if we actually got price parity with the Kia Picanto, starting price at £16k though. That would be a real break through.
@evodessey Cheaper batteries? Noo.. Our I5 costs 56k EUR and a replacement battery for a Model Y is 8k USD as a reference. That's less than the amount of taxes ppl pay on a car typically...
Yet last year there was that famous Canadian Ioniq 5 incident where someone had damaged the battery & it wasn’t covered by Hyundai warranty & they wanted $50k for a replacement.
@@evodessey Let's not confuse battery cost with complete lack of service background / infrastructure / willingness. Nothing will change about what you mentioned because the battery itself goes down in price from 8k to 6k...
I did mention the HP figure last week but not the 3.5. Yes that’s true. I only found that Korean webpage after i’d recorded and had no more time left to record another bit. Was pushed for time yesterday. Sorry about that.
@@evodessey Don't worry, Brian, I always enjoy getting your news updates and I was just happy to have found something I could contribute that somehow hasn't been mentioned in this clip. Greetings from Germany
I will do a bit on it in next weeks. I was already running at 15 minutes for the episode they are normally 10. That 3.5 secs is the real Elephant in the room😂

I have an appointment next Monday (09 Dec) to have the SC327 recall work done. Fingers crossed that this puts all of the ICCU/12V issues to bed.
I hope so.
Hi Brian, can you please tell me where to find the "How to" videos for the Kia EV3 you talk about and briefly show In your video Thanks.
