    This video has made me wanna retrofit both front and rear footwell lights to my golf mk7.5, but i saw some other youtuber saying he heard nut or some drop when he loosened the bolts holding the front seat?? 😬😬 that is what scares me a bit. Otherwise i was gonna remove trim and pin the wire in c72 (bcm) and a Ground point, and then run the wire the OEM+ way you showed, maybe try to just tilt the front Seat back, and install the wire and light with the Seat still in the car...
    And then find the long codings (i think there is 30 you need to check) and take the car to the dealer or someone with vdcs cable....

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure it will be possible to run the wiring the same way I did under the carpet with the seat still in place. The two outer mounting points for the seat do have some movement, but I wouldn't ever expect them to drop away. Unless you're super confident in what you're doing with wiring and coding that sounds quite a bit more complex. Regardless, thanks for watching and I wish you good luck with it!

    • @pederfree1251
      @pederfree1251 3 роки тому

      Oh, i think you misunderstod... i want to know if there is a risk, by loosening the bolts that holds the Seat, all the way, like this other UA-camr said, he feelt/heard like a nut dropped.. So he was afraid to take the Seat out, if he could not screw the bolts for the seat back in....
      I want to be sure that doesn’t happen, when i unbolt the seat?? Then i mean instead of taking the seat out of the car, i would think it is possible to run the wire and lights with the seat just tilted back on the rearseat...?

      @@pederfree1251 Link me to the vid if you recall which one it is. I should have shown the detail of how those nuts work. They will not drop out. You can see how the nut is in place at 19:13. It is just floating there so there is movement and adjustability when putting the seat in. Then I talk about how the ones on the door side are able to move at 23:17. Yeah, I think if you move the seat completely forward and up then unbolt it, you might be able to install the rear light without taking the seat out of the car.

    I saw those openings on the back seats. I wonder if the European models got the rear footwell lighting?

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому +1

      Not sure if Euros got it, but I think it is just a metal base used by multiple VW models and the rest of the seat foam and covers make up the rest of the seat.

      Should be pretty much the same if you have a similar style light and a mounting hole for the rear. Jeremy knows he is not prestigious, but I try to make him feel that way anyway. 😉

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому +1

      The front light is the only one that is powered, then the wire connecting them powers the rear light. Does that answer your question?

    I missed the bit how rear seat light connects to the harness routed through carpet ? and I suppose this kit only works if car comes with front footwell lights ?

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  2 роки тому

      23:08 is where I make the physical connection. If you're skilled enough to wire in your own front footwell lights, then it would work for that too.

  • @Pizazzman
    @Pizazzman 3 роки тому +1

    Do you happen to know if this kit would work on a mk6 Jetta Sportwagen? It appears that my seats have the same cutout for the rear lights.

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому +1

      Super easy way to test is if the light housing for the front foot well fits into the cut out on the seat. I am about 95% certain that it will work just fine.

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому +1

      And if the connectors to the light LED its self look the same as in the video then you’re totally good.

    Quick question i have a polo 6c if i replace my original footwell with this one, can i turn them on while driving? My original footwell lights shut off when i close the door and open when i unlock the car or open the door again.

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  3 роки тому

      If the original lights shut off when you close the door it sounds like there is a switch controlling the power. If you're able to find the switch and make power constant it will obviously work, but you want to also make sure that it doesn't provide constant power even when the car is off and doors are shut so you don't drain the battery. Kind of a tough one.

  • @rs6ix

    One question, do you have to manually turn on the lights each time you turn on the car?

    • @deautoled
      @deautoled 2 роки тому

      You do not - these stay on and remember last color you chose. We also upgraded the kit from a year ago where it has the wires where you plug directly into the OEM adapter in front and wire power to rear housing - here the wire is attached to the LED itself. So in the new model the LEDs do not have any wiring:

    Wait, do you have to manually turn each one of them on with the remote everytime you turn the car on? Or if you leave them on blue and turn the car off, will they be blue the next time you turn it on?

    • @Vaguh

      I didn't have to code anything, but if I recall right I probably got some airbag warning lights on the dash from when I tested the lighting without the seat. I cleared them with my OBD11, but they may go away with some normal driving. Are you having issues with your seat operation?
