- Non running 1978 Hobbit PA50 I.
I used the forums at www.mopedarmy.com, where I also downloaded the service manual -

Directions for carb cleaning and removal

The three obvious issues were flat tires (0:04), a broken pet cock (1:08) (snapped lever, stuck "off") and that it had been sitting since 1988.
I cleaned the stale gas that had turned to varnish from inside the tank and put a new petcock on
www.treatland.tv/honda-hobbit...
Lubricated the Variator (9:24) (plate has a lot of wear) with Malossi MRG Grease
www.treatland.tv/malossi-MRG-...
Checked belt and chain tension (19:19), chain is a little loose, but I left it alone and replaced the Air Filter (19:47).
www.treatland.tv/original-OEM...
Flushed out then filled the rear wheel gearbox (21:41) which was empty with 75cc of Valvoline 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil

Hoped that given the petcock was off, that the carb had been run dry so I wouldn't need to clean it. So I replaced the spark plug (25:14) and put fresh premix in the tank and attempted to start it (27:18)- nothing (but always on headlight did work when engine turned over).
I checked for spark (28:03) before removing the carb just in case, that worked fine - but the plug was dry so pretty much guaranteed a carb issue
Used "Carb Removal Method 3" from Moped Army (28:41)
www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Honda_P...
Bungie cord and a stool/bench on each side of the front wheel to stop it turning and falling off the jack.
Cleaned the carb (34:09), which was full of varnish - I made mistakes cleaning the carb, forgot to remove the drain plug and bowl o-ring before putting in parts cleaner, reinstalled bowl the wrong way etc
Carb Cleaner Dip I used was the old style Gunk Brand Carb-Medic, the new version has bad reviews so this link is nearest to that
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D...
And Chlorinated spray
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002...
along with toothbrush, shop rags, metal clothes hanger and this tool from K&S Supply to clean the jet.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001...
put it back together, re installed back on the moped (59:33) using allen head bolts for the intake instead of phillips because they are easier to get to (using a ball end allen wrench) - engine fired right up (1:04:43), little bit of adjusting for the idle and air/fuel mix screw. - Навчання та стиль
Great filming. And I'm actually glad you chose not to talk- I find lots of good mechanics distort the good work their hands are doing with the things they say. Good job.
This is so relaxing. Thank you for making such a great video.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Great help. I just bought a 1978 PA50 II model, too bad I paid too much, LOL.
Oh the memories, i had a PA50 when i was 13 (1997). Yours looks very good, nice condition.
I enjoyed the video. I bought 3, non-running, 1978 PA50's last December. I'm working on the first one now.
Wow I am soo glad that I watched this video. I got a hand a hobbit and I had no idea that that little tool case was in the back!
I was ready to jump off when I realized you wouldn't be speaking, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It was great. even therapeutic.
+Ace Futura Thanks for sticking with it.
These vids are second to none man nice work👍
Hey, nice video. Can't wait to see the rest. I wouldn't have found that stem you took out with the hanger. Well worth watching. Very well done. Thanks.
Great video on a great job you did. It would have taken me two days to do what you did in his time frame. My completed carburetor would have had at least one jet left over on the work bench. Your series on this little Honda should be very helpful to owners looking to do some repair work on their bikes. Thanks again.
Fantastic video in a quite and concentrated environment !
Nice to see another moped rider from Massachusetts. I'm from Franklin mass. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for putting your time into them.
One of the best how-to videos I've seen. And I used to produce How-to vids for a living.
Great informative vid thanks, and straight old fashioned methodical approach to getting it running again. Also nice to see a old ped that has not been used for over 20 years in good condition, and not a total wreck. I also liked your spark plug gap setting tool, carb cleaner tank, and plastic razor blade, not seen those in the uk
What an excellent 4 videos. Great camera work. You are and excellent mechanic. You are an inspiration to allot of us out here in UA-cam land..... Thank you.
Holy cow, that's one mint Camino!! Super cool!
Wow! Excellent job! so patient........and skilled.
That bike looks mint.
I like that you changed out the Philips screws on the reed for set screws, Exactly what I would do.
Very helpfull. Thanks a lot!
thanks for great video!
How does your ignition coil look does it have a condenser on the top attached to it because mine won’t give a spark with it like that
So glad you didn't talk through this. My kind of video
what was the number on the ngk spark plug
Gracias por el video muy útil
Saludos desde uruguay 🇺🇾
Quick question: Where does the top hose(vacuum hose?) on the carb go to?
muy excelente 👍
Where did he buy that syringe? anyone know?Thank you
Do you have to empty old oil from crank case and how much new oil do you put in?
Could anyone here explain to me how I'm supposed to put fuel in the tank? Like with the ratios of how much gasoline and how much 2 cycle? I'm looking it up but I'm having kind of a hard time understanding it.
You Sir replace manuals and special tools by knowledge. I work like you did it on a Piaggio Bravo. Prolly the model Honda copied from and improved it. :)
I have the pa50ii, alot of time and work just to clean the carb!
Is that a 12 mm petcock? I bought I similar one from a Vespa off treatland..
Como é a regulagem desse carburador?
24:05 How many oil need the Camino? Thank you
Could u put captions, so I can learn what parts you're working on?
We have a honda camino and it is awesome but also very hard to repair
Bitte welche maße hat ein kolbenring von einem alten honda camino ich brauche 2aber ich weiß nicht welches passt mfg
As much as I love my mopeds, I don't have time to clean carbs every season, I'm looking into buying an electric scooter. Charge and go. Nice video!
Greetings from Massachusetts.
Where in Mass? I'm on the Cape. Got the Honda from a Gentleman in Dennis.
+n1bpd another Massachusetts guy! I'm buying one of these today. needs a battery cover. do you have any parts for sale? I'm on the border of ma,CT,RI. great video by the way!
What do you think of the honda camino? Is it reliable moped?
i converted the decomp lever into a thumb throttle on my old camino
incroyable tout ces petit chocolats
hey there could you tell me at what point the carb cleaning starts?
34:54 , better late than never 👍😄
Replacing the four carburetor bolts with washers was a mistake. Now you have four washers that can fall in somewhere there's enough shit to worry about. I used a 10 deep socket no problems
Why do you work so slowly?
I'm in Haverhill.
Can you use WD-40 instead of the spray you use?
No. Thats a special cleaner, not to compare with WD-40.
Bitte kann Du helf mich Ich brucken ein Kolbenring für Honda camino alte ich brauche eine und ich weiß nicht Nummer und wo ich denke 4.5 mm MFG
This is Hobbit hardcore porn.
Those carbs are like Vintage 100cc Kart carbs, buttery fixed jet.
If I can some value, many people don't align the emulsion jet correctly and run into poor carburation issues....didn't think you could save that minger carb....and a new Wabron is only £25😎
I got one of these I need a clutch for it any ideas?
Where are you located? Else www.cmsnl.com/honda_model8286/ they ship worldwide.
cheers for that Jorg, but I traded it already. next time!
Just bought one of these little bikes and its been standing for 10 years I can get it to run but its starting is a bit crap and I was trying to work out how to get the carb off
Thanks for letting me in on the secret :-)
Yours is a little nicer than mine.
Ethanol in the fuel is what clogs up the float bowl and jets. Use jet fuel.
quel silence !!!
What is 25:1
+Anthony Areche The fuel to oil ratio - 1 part oil for 25 parts gasoline (1 gallon oil in 25 gallons gas / 1 oz oil in 25 oz of gas etc)
@15:58
I found in a forest
A yellow one in Graeagle?
