2 ah-ha moments for me: 1, highlight tone priority-it is a setting i would normally just ignore and 2 - the most important for me - the abililty to shoot at sunset without a flash/reflector is a game changer for my own family shoots. We have a little one that has special needs so the LEAST amount of equipment needed for a sunset shoot will work welll for him. He is used to a camera but a reflector or flash usually causes a meltdown. Thank you Vanessa Joy for this video. (I shoot with the Canon EOSR6 M2)
This is a great video. I have been experimenting a bit with the live histogram on an R5 Mark II, and the results I am getting from my late afternoon/early evening images are great, especially when I back off from exposing too far to the right. Great tips on warming up the image to match more of what we are getting from the setting sun. One of the things I am really enjoying with the R5M2 is that although the water at the lake is a little darker, it still retains so much of the reflection from the trees and reeds popping out from the water. I shoot quite a few wilderness areas with ponds/lakes. You make photography look and feel like a lot of fun!
I love these bts shoots! Glad to know I'm not the only one who forgets the lens cap is on 🤣 What lens did you start out with? Was that the 135 1.8 and then switched to the 28-70?
Ok, random question, but outside the fact you are an ambassador for canon, is there a reason you may bring an R6 to a session vs the R5 vs the R3? Like do you go into a session with a camera in mind? This is a maternity so I probably won’t need to crop as much so R6 works, or do you choose cameras for the algorithm and commitments to Canon? Just curious cause I always had R6’s but now I have an R6 and R5ii and I would assume I will always head out of the house with R5 unless I needed a backup.
Great question! I love the R6 II bc it’s a more advanced auto focus than both of the R3 and R5 since it’s newer, plus 24 megapixels is all I really need for a portrait session like this. In addition because of the sensor size it’s a little bit bit better and low like conditions which I knew I would have in this photo session since I was exposing for the highlights and bringing up the shadows. ☺️ I have always tended to be a flagship kind of girl, but I have to say I just put down my credit card for the R5 Mark II as my new main camera
Excellent! Vanessa puts the ‘Joy’ into Photography! 😊
Haha thx ☺️

Interesting question. I've been watching VJ since DSLR days and somehow she's a Flagship girl in my mind (1DXs, R3s) 😍

@@VanessaJoy makes perfect sense, better performance in a more manageable package. What's not to like!!
She said "Take a baby step"
Haha
Sunset photos with no flash? Holy moly.
Yeah.. Its crazy. But I'd expect nothing less.. She's an expert and It's an R6ii, THE BEST Lowlight sensor on a cam now, on par with R3.
Appreciate you ❤️
What would be the adjustments if i'm using look mark 5 IV ?
None really. Same concept applies but you’ll probably see a bit more noise in your shadows
So you may want to run it through a denoise
How are you Banyuwangi Indonesia Romi 💘🇮🇩
