I'm sure some of these features (particularly masking) will be very useful. But I'd much rather Skylum concentrated on improving the basics, eg sharpening and denoise 2:22
Still lacking support for editing and saving in DNG format... i've been asking for this since launch. ON1, DXO, Lrc, Capture One allow this, sadly Skylum thinks this is one exotic, useless feature. Until that happens it's a blocking stone in my workflow, and I can't truly recommend Luminar NEO. I can't understand the logic or the difficulty... sry.
I would like to state it frankly. Except for the HDR function, when I see the other newly added features, I think that they are presented as if they were new functions, derived from existing features and adding new interfaces to these features. And when I watch the video, it seems like some innovations have been introduced using settings such as toning and color balance. Luminosity mask was a feature that was already in Luminar 4 and was later canceled. Now it seems like the same function has been brought up again with a new interface.
I'm trying very hard to like this software but i always end up disappointed. I own a Luminar 3 and 4 license which i never used because the software was horrendously slow on export. With the latest Neo they made some progress but the UI is still cumbersome and not intuitive as Lightroom/Capture One... Presets have different edit points when you apply to pictures, wtf? But the biggest letdown at this moment is the lack of Lens distortion correction in the program, so i see myself doing RAW to DNG conversion and then edit the pictures in Davinci Resolve.
Following information received from Skylum, they are aware the issue with plug-ins and they are working on resolving it at the moment. For more information, we suggest you to get in touch directly with them
Looking forward to the in depth videos. Did you take photos of the solar eclipse? I did but I’m not sure how to edit them. I did bracketed exposure shots of partial eclipse and the total eclipse. I would love it if you would do a video on how to edit Solar eclipse in Neo. Especially how to bring out the details of the corona on the total eclipse.
I'm amazed Luminar still doesn't add standard functions such as marking 1-5 stars (not only favorite and reject), and let us chose where plugins save processed pictures.
Even though it has been requested many times, profiles of DJI drone cameras are still missing. I brought up the same issue during the Iceland photography tour last year. But no one listened to me. Even the software engineer who was there.
And finally; I recently submitted another request. Ability to open the same catalog on at least two computers. Nobody took this into consideration either. Please imagine, being able to open the catalog on your desktop computer on your laptop while traveling. I think the Luminar team should take these and similar suggestions into consideration a little more. They don't listen to us, maybe you can convey it.

How is the quality if using HDR merge in Neo vs Lightroom classic? Better? Same?
Hi, to be honest, they both provide different results, and I think that each of them works better in different situations.

That masking select tool by bright or dark areas is a smart idea. Love it!

Would love to see Luminar add a makeup tool like EvotoAi
Thank you for the note. Will see what the future brings. Now two tools for Landscape, so maybe we'll see more portrait tools in future.

100% Right 🙏
Will the new features be available when using Luminar as a Lightroom plugin?
Both of the two new tools will be available in the plugin version of the software.
