    These look like great updates. However, my version is 1.18.2 (12917). When will it be available?
    I notice someone else commented their version is 1.18.3.
    Do Luminar roll out different versions at different times in different arts of the world?

      @@hepgeoff Me too. I have purchased a couple of Skylum imaging products since 2018 but being a retired photographer, to spend monthly for some thing I simply don't have as much use for as the price involved, I am hoping that this update is offered to those of us that purchased NEO before it was actually available a couple years ago. I will view AT's review but Jim Nix did not say if it is free to early NEO purchasers but I hope that AT clarified this. Early AM here but will look at the review in a few minutes and hopefully fall asleep thrilled. TIA AT Well I did finally see all of the video and unless both my eyesight and my hearing has gone south, there is no mention of what purchase option is affected by the update. Would hope that maybe Skylum can comment to help folks know unless we simply have to wait until the 24/5 tp see what happens when we either boot up NEO or check for updates.
      Why did not all the water become selected in the waterfall image? Also why were not all the items with dark shadows not become selected. However, I find that when selected the building does not work so well to my eye. I also would be interested to see what a single image HDR would produce of the same image file. Any part of the result could also be adjusted with masking and remove are adjust some areas of the image adjustment.

    Luminar has come a long way. 👍What I like most about the past updates was the much enhanced speed and stability, I found workarounds for almost all other issues. This seems like a really great update, I hope those speed and stability goodies are not sacrificed!

    Im one of those that does pretty much everything with local masks, while also getting way into detail with the brush tool. This "small" additon alone will probably decrease my editing time by half.

    Hi! Thanks for this video! Good to see Neo is improving. Never understood why missing the homogen background (black, gray, white) form Neo. Now I'm happy to use simple black. Still missing the picture info or exif date from Edit menu. Only in Cathalog menu the picture info is available. Why? Other strange thing, in previuos version the Develop RAW menu Profile option contained the camera profiles too (nature, vivid, ... ) in latest revision it is gone. Why? Sometimes I used camera profiles instead of Luminar default ... If you have influance to the Luminar Technicians could you please ask them? :) thx!

    I love your channel and your videos, but a why on earth can't skylum work on the foundation of the program before adding all the frills? Why is it not possible to advance to the next photograph while editing without going back to the catalog?? This is SO time consuming when I have a large amount of photographs to edit. This is the biggest reason I don't use Neo very often
    Sorry for the rant, but I'm hoping Skylum reads the comments on your channel.

    As you are professional with Luminar Neo and I'm pretty new with this I would like to ask you about Luminar Neo's lens correction. My camera set is Nikon Z fc and Nikkor Z DX 18-140. Nikon does lens correction in camera for both jpg and raw files. Anyway when I open raw file in Neo I get terrible barrel distortion. Neo's auto lens correction option does not help any. It does practically nothing. It takes lot of time to try manually correct such a big barrel distortion. Any ideas to solve this problem? I have liked your videos and learned much via them! Thank you!

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes, you're right. This is an issue with the profiles that I've experienced too. They're just not as accurate for correcting lens distortion as I would like. I'm also a Nikon user and get frustrated by this. As a starting point for better profiles you can try the video I made ua-cam.com/video/7JFjFyotHpE/v-deo.html on getting Neo to use camera matching profiles. The colours and contrast will be better but profiles for lenses unfortunately still need help.

    Thanks for the review Anthony, this is a most impressive update for sure! I'm sure glad I subscribed to Neo. I could never understand luminosity masking in Photoshop--it just seems like black magic voodoo. But in Neo, it's easily understandable! I would really like to see more videos on harnessing the power of luminosity masks. About the only part of the update that I _don't_ like is their rebranding. I like their old logo way more than the generic "asterisk" logo.

    Does neo hdr merge do a better job than lightroom classic in your opinion?

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  5 місяців тому

      It's very different. They tackle HDR in a very different way. LR creates a 32bit raw dng that holds all the potential information but we still need to work the file to recover it, whereasNeo creates a 16bit tiff that already has the data processed automatically. My preference is the result from Neo, but Lightroom's version can still be very useful.

    Looks good. It will be interesting to find out how much of that, if any, filters down to those of us on a one-time payment basis rather than a subscription... So far Neo is not even suggesting that 1.19 exists. Luminosity masks in particular were one of the things promised when Neo first came out and used to exist in Luminar 3 and 4 so I would like to see them just to complete the original feature promise. (The batch HDR would also be really useful today since I just came back from a shoot where I have about 8-10 HDR sets to process...)

My hunch is that you'll see the new tools, the layout change, the ability to turn off the dynamic background and anything else apart from the HDR merge change as that's linked to either buying the HDR extension or being on the subscription that comes with it.

    if I buy one time purchase, will the AI functions still usable after the 1 year access for generative tools?

    • @AnthonyTurnham

      Hi, with the one-off purchase the benefit is obviously owning outright. You also get all the updates going forward too. However, if you want to use the generative AI tools that's only available in the subscription version. As are the extensions such as HDR merge and pano merge. Personally now I'd be opting for the 24month subscription as that represents the best value. You can also asses in 2yrs if Neo is still the best option for your editing needs. They're currently running a discount here bit.ly/Luminar-NEO and I believe you can also still use my code ATNEO10 to save more as well. If you do go ahead with Neo please let me know if the code managed to save you any more? Thanks

    Luminosity masking! Hey Anthony, once again thanks for an awesome video. Question - is this update available currently? I have had a look around and dont see a mention of it on their website and when I check my updates it says I am on the lastest version leaving me confused.

      Hi, thanks for the comment and question. It's out on the 25th April. I pinned that info in the top comment but I should also have mentioned it in the vid. Sorry.

      Haha! Yeah, spelling never was my strong suit! No spell check when I'm typing out headers in Premiere unfortunately.

    Dedicated tutorial on Luminosity Masks would be brilliant please. This is taking Luminar to a much higher and different level. Detailed advice would be more than welcome.

    great presentation and upgrade. But i am disapointed, after so many years asking for that, we still don't have a brush with edge detection and re-editable radial filters (visible pins, names, handles) as we have in LRC and ON1.

    I have to say that I am looking forward to the luminosity masks and I really missed them a lot. Otherwise, I also lack the option to perform "correction of the force of action" of the given adjustment (similar to the opacity of layer coverage in photoshop - that will be the best than). Thanks so much for all you do Anthony
