Luminar has come a long way. 👍What I like most about the past updates was the much enhanced speed and stability, I found workarounds for almost all other issues. This is a new version of Luminar Neo (v1.19) dropping for general release on 25th April (sorry I didn't say in the original recording!). It's a free update if you already own Neo. If you don't have it yet Skylum are currently running a "Spring sale" with up to 83% savings here: bit.ly/Luminar-NEO and code ATNEO10 will save you another 10%! (why the speech marks around "Spring Sale", because it's Autumn for those of us living in the Southern Hemisphere)
Thanks. Nice updates to the masking. Have there been any improvements to the other extensions (apart from HDR) which are generally far slower than competition options and some (noise reduction) perform poorly in comparisons as well?
Eventually, some really good news also to those of us who happen to have purchased Neo & extensions outright and refuse to comply with Skylum's obvious desire to convert us to subscription customers! Thank you for your time and effort Anthony, and yes of course; bring the Luminosity mask video on .. 😉
@@hepgeoff Me too. I have purchased a couple of Skylum imaging products since 2018 but being a retired photographer, to spend monthly for some thing I simply don't have as much use for as the price involved, I am hoping that this update is offered to those of us that purchased NEO before it was actually available a couple years ago. I will view AT's review but Jim Nix did not say if it is free to early NEO purchasers but I hope that AT clarified this. Early AM here but will look at the review in a few minutes and hopefully fall asleep thrilled. TIA AT Well I did finally see all of the video and unless both my eyesight and my hearing has gone south, there is no mention of what purchase option is affected by the update. Would hope that maybe Skylum can comment to help folks know unless we simply have to wait until the 24/5 tp see what happens when we either boot up NEO or check for updates. Why did not all the water become selected in the waterfall image? Also why were not all the items with dark shadows not become selected. However, I find that when selected the building does not work so well to my eye. I also would be interested to see what a single image HDR would produce of the same image file. Any part of the result could also be adjusted with masking and remove are adjust some areas of the image adjustment.
OMG finally subject masking! Im one of those that does pretty much everything with local masks, while also getting way into detail with the brush tool. This "small" additon alone will probably decrease my editing time by half. Luminosity mask looks interesting, but i didnt really used it in Lightroom before.
These look like great updates. However, my version is 1.18.2 (12917). When will it be available? I notice someone else commented their version is 1.18.3. Do Luminar roll out different versions at different times in different arts of the world? Thank you for all your excellent tuition Andy...........Please , more Luminosity Masking videos😄
Hi mate, in my efforts to condense all of this update into one video I managed to ommit a very important piece of information. Release date! It's due on 25th of April, or 26th depending on your time zone. Cheers, Anthony
@@AnthonyTurnham Thank you, I just received an email from Skylum informing me of the release date. Apologies, I called you Andy before, not Anthony.....forgot spellcheck !!
@simpix7683 - whilst I have Neo set to auto-updates, it doesn't always do so. I have to manually check every once in a while, to get the latest. Diary set for 25th!
Thanks for the review Anthony, this is a most impressive update for sure! I'm sure glad I subscribed to Neo. I could never understand luminosity masking in Photoshop--it just seems like black magic voodoo. But in Neo, it's easily understandable! I would really like to see more videos on harnessing the power of luminosity masks. About the only part of the update that I _don't_ like is their rebranding. I like their old logo way more than the generic "asterisk" logo.
@@AnthonyTurnham In my case, no biggie. I only shoot with a real camera, raw files and post-processing when I'm on vacation, and sadly, it'll be a loooong time till that comes by. But it'll be sweet.

Just got Capture one for my Fuji files yesterday and ended up getting Neo also today. I've used Luminar AI before and have really enjoyed it. Looking forward to using this update.
I have to say that I am looking forward to the luminosity masks and I really missed them a lot. great presentation and upgrade. But i am disapointed, after so many years asking for that, we still don't have a brush with edge detection and re-editable radial filters (visible pins, names, handles) as we have in LRC and ON1.

LR creates a 32bit raw dng that holds all the potential information but we still need to work the file to recover it, whereasNeo creates a 16bit tiff that already has the data processed automatically.
