Very good restoration. Original is obviously more beautiful than that sad grey graphite I don't know what colour it was... but it preserved the original finish and now it looks almost brand new. Good job! Nice video too!

Thank you - was very pleased with the way it came out - was looking very sad. Had paid peanuts for it probably and was going to get binned if we had bought it - made an interesting project - of course would not have been possible to scrape off that horrible graphite finish if it had been refinished properly. E-110 was my first guitar. Bought it from a friend for $25. Taught myself to play on it. Eight years later I accidentally snapped the neck. Continued playing other guitars until my late 20s when they were all stolen.
Began relearning a couple of months ago after a 35 year hiatus.
Last week I bought another E-110. It cost more than $25 this time.

Nice - the Kay 110 was a very similar guitar to the 100 - albeit with a different body shape. Kays generally though were good budget instruments for their time - although from my experience also teaching guitar I would not recommend them as being the best, or the most easy, or rewarding, or versatile to learn on - as although they can sound great, their open bar type saddles, and build of these vintage guitars can makes anything but light playing difficult, as well as having set up and tunning stability issues. If I were to recommend one type electric guitar to begin or relearn on it would be a Strat type in terms of ease of setup, versatility, playability, enjoyment and affordability. Indeed Fender's Squire range of Strat's are inexpensive and very well made - or even more affordable are the numerous Harley Benton's Strat clone offerings - bearing in mind that set up is everything with any guitar and the less you pay generally but not always the more set up you have to do out of the box to get a satisfactory player. Anyway hope that helps and great you're relearning guitar - good luck with that and with your newly acquired Kay110 - appreciate the comment - don't forget to subscribe and take a look at all original music and spread the word about us - all the very best Marlowe SUN HOT BAND

Much appreciated - and agree does need a demo - but thought it would have made this video a little long - I will do a demo video playing it soon, and I will cross link it back 🙂

A lovely restoration of a horrible guitar! I had one in 1982 and it put me off playing for years. It cost my mu the equivalent of £100 in today's dosh, but now £100 can buy something that plays well and sounds better.

You're right budget guitars of this era seldom played well out of the box - and these guitars good looks rarely matched their tone, playability & versatility. That said set up correctly and if you play the right genre then they work great - but definitely not the best choice to learn to play on - it is was it is - made an interesting project and video to restore - so many people had these - sold it on to a guy who had one when he was young and wanted for nostalgia to get one again.
