- A general overview of creating your hand drum from our kit.
Our kits include an amazing instruction manual, a rawhide circle (large enough to wrap all the way over to the back of the drum) with holes punched, lacing long enough to pull the drum and weave a handle, one of our steamed white ash hoops, and a drum stick kit…which includes a moose leather head (to be sewn with the included glovers needle and sinew), sheep’s wool, maple stick and sinew/needle to tie it on. We are very used to dealing with small or huge orders.

Instructions unclear I now have a black Pegasus in another dimension.
Kidding (not really) but I just made my drum using your kit! I would have loved to see this from the very start. I did figure out my own way in the end though. I need to order some leather to make a bag to keep it in.

@Tribal Spirit Music Yes, perfect. but only one signed it doesn't go out of tune easily?
The drum will change tones throughout the year, will change with different humidities. But can be 'tuned' by warming or applying a slightly moist towel for a short duration.
Hello. excellent video. I have a question. Is just a firm pull on the strings enough to stretch the leather?
yes....like you say, just firm....it is REALLY easy to over pull a drum.....and then drum goes TING TING TING instead of BOOM BOOM BOOM lol

No, there is no finish on the White Ash.
Could you do a video on making the drum stick please. I'm reading my directions and drilling the hole and sewing through i don't get...I also loose my head while drumming :(

Super excited we have an elder coming in to help us make the drums at our university. My question Do we need hot water to soften the hide before we begin. Mussi
Cold water! Very important. Never hot water, as the hide will 'cook' and weaken. :). soak for 24hr max. Have fun!!
I received my 4 kits, however, I did not receive instructions for assembleing my drumsticks. How can I obtain this information 🤔. Thank you so very much
We ordered a drum a while ago and we’re just now putting it together. Did you say that sheep wool was supposed to come with the kit for the drum stick.
Everything else is beautiful. I was just wondering because I got some that I bought that I could put in it.
@@timothykoopjr8702 Hi Timothy, our adult drum kits (12" and larger) should have come with wool to stuff the stick. The kids versions do not. If we forgot to include the wool, send us an email, we send some to ya! Thanks!

How do you burn the sinew without singeing the leather?
Just a few quick passes with the lighter should do it without marking the leather.
How long do we soak the hide and sinew
Overnight for the soak. I cold water. :). Enjoy
Would anyone be able to help? Mine has dried, but the skin is warped (it's loose in some part and tight in others, but doesn't seem to be related to the lacing). I let it sit near a window when drying and I fear that may have done something to it. Is there any way to fix it? It's dried solid now. Thanks in advance is anyone has any tips!
