  • How to sew a lined tote bag for beginners - easy tutorial!
    Making a tote bag is easier than you think! All you need for this project is:
    -2 pieces of fabric for the outside
    -2 pieces of fabric for the inside
    I used 4 pieces that all measured 16.5" by 18", but you can use different dimensions too! Just make sure they are all the same size.
    -2 24" straps which you can make from 48 inches (finished length) of 4" strips of fabric. I got this by joining 2 long strips of 4" fabric together.

    I made custom dimensions and decided to add interfacing to the outside layer, but otherwise used your instructions for my tote bag and I’m so happy with the results. Thank you for this tutorial!

    • @jailynallen9891

      How do you add interfacing what does that help with?

    • @jenniferreilly5240
      @jenniferreilly5240 5 місяців тому +1

      @@jailynallen9891 you just cut it to the same size as your outside layer and iron it onto the wrong side of the fabric. It's not neccesary, but just a personal preference to help give the bag a little stiffness and body.

    • @DebbieWolgemuth
      @DebbieWolgemuth 3 місяці тому +1

      Gives cotton more body for a bag vs stiffer upholstery fabric.

    How many yards of fabric would you recommend for each piece ? 1 yard for each 2 squares ?

    • @NoTraceShop
      @NoTraceShop  2 місяці тому

      You could cut all 4 panels out of 1 yard or 2 1/2 yards :)

  • @Sewingnoob
    @Sewingnoob 6 місяців тому

    Maybe a dumb question, but doesn’t cutting the squares from the corners then leave you with loose thread that doesn’t have a backstitch?

    • @NoTraceShop
      @NoTraceShop  4 місяці тому

      Never a dumb question! Yes it does but when you sew the corners again you will sew over those original seams so that they are locked in place again. Hope that helps!
