    Vlad has the Von Carstein ring, inlore it makes you undying. Upon death you return to life a couple of hours/days later. Ingame this is reflected by reducing the time wounded from 5 turns to 1 turn.

      Less than 1 turn. I once lost Vlad in a fight during the end of turn - army wiped all dead. Then in the same end turn got another lord killed BUT the army survived. When I was prompted to appoint a new lord for the lordless army, Vlad was in the list. So I assigned him again. These 2 armies where side by side, so technically, at the start of the new turn, Vlad just switched army. 😮
      Vlad is an absolute beast in the lore, and the game translate this quite well.

    Karl an actual gigachad, and Pancreas make no attempt at containing his fan boy for the man. It's a great video.
    As for the Steam Tanks, think of them on the level of Dark Age of Technology gears in 40k, but for Fantasy instead. Their whole shtick is a play on the super advanced steampunk trope that work better than modern tech. Hell, the inventor for the Steam Tank is named *Leonardo* da Miragliano so it isn't the least bit subtle. These vehicles are the most complex war machines the Empire have, and after Leonardo's death, the secret to create more of them was forever lost. There were attempts to make more of course, but so far they have either failed due to various circumstances or just exploded in general. As for the original tanks, of the limited numbers made by Leonardo, only 8 survived to this day. Each tank possess a unique name and loadout, though this isn't applicable for Total War. You can build as many generic Steam Tanks as you can.
    Edit: Funny anecdote, one of the attempt at recreating the Steam Tank was by using a Beastman Shaman as a power source to syphon Chaos energy instead of steam. The guy took his tank to battle, and subsequently died by the horde of Khorne daemons that the Shaman summoned. Bruh.

    It is literally the most infuriating thing to fight Heinrich Kemmler in a location with high vampiric corruption. Do whatever is possible to avoid fighting him in those locations. He has insanely high… forgot what mechanic was called, but essentially, vampiric factions have a percent chance to for units that die in a battle, to be revived at the end of the battle, win or lose. He attacked one of my settlements with a fully stacked garrison, strongest it can be. I took a number of losses, but won. Then, in the same turn, he attacked my settlement again, as all but 3 of his units had revived, and the zombie dragon he had, was revived. I won again, but took more losses. Simply put, engage him in a place without corruption, or fight him with 4 armies on his one, or else he will lose nothing, and you will gain nothing. In siege battles, he can attack the same city over, and over, and over again, as long as he has the movement to do it, because if corruption is too high, there’s like an 80% chance for each of his units to come right back post-battle. I was playing Luthor Harkon, and I was beyond pissed.

    yea in Vermintide 1 Übersreik gets swarmed by skaven ^^ also in Total War Warhammer 2 & 3 there is a land mark in Übersreik (called the Red Moon Inn, the Hub of Vermintide 1) which if you build it you get 5 heroes as garrison for that city, Witchhunter, Empire Captain, Dwarf Thane, Wood Elf Waystalker and a Bright Wizard aswell as a public order bonus for the province

    funny thing about the empire, there are so many new enemies close by that playing as them is one of the more difficult campaigns to attempt nowadays, for franz and gelt specifically as volkmar and markus are over in the desert and jungle just vibing with their own things, and if you arent on top of your empire being a good one then it can quickly devolve into anarchy if some electors die in rapid succession, as happened to me in a gelt campaign where by turn 15 half the empire had died and the rest blamed me for it when the ones who died were on the other side of the empire with no way for me to help them

    Part of having a lot of cities in just a few turns is that the Empire towns are a bit closer to each other and jungle terrain takes more movement points to traverse (, I think).
    Karl takes so little damage because he has a huge amount of armour. Still, also because most of the rocket artillery's damage is low but wide area splash damage (I think) so he as a single model unit gets only nicks. In contrast, a large model count unit gets hit heavily, as every model in the splash area gets the damage applied.
    56:13 Azhag gets hit by a rocket, but as he like Franz has high armour and is a single model, he also shrugs it off quite easily, compared to a normal infantry unit.

    For tips and tricks, there's definitely a lot of youtubers to watch. Kleaper and Reggie aren't bad, since they show a lot of cheese things that help and you can copy for your own campaigns. There's also Zerkovich and even Blake's Takes has a 'Why you suck" series where he goes through the different factions and shows you how to play them, why you might be struggling and so on. Highly recommend watching other people play, also even recommend Monster's Abound as well if you just like watching someone play the game. He's pretty fun.
    On the topic of mods? Highly recommend them. There's so many mods that make the game not only way more fun but also way more exciting in so many ways. I highly recommend playing the game's base version, enjoy the up's and downs, and when you start to find yourself trying out all the things available to you and needing new stuff? Definitely try out the mods to play with new units, new starting positions, new factions and so on.
    Mods easily make the game's life-span a thousand times longer and a thousand times better.
    Something to note with Vlad is that both in lore and in game, he is an absurdly strong Lord. The vampire's recovery time and their natural chance to resurrect units makes them incredibly annoying and terrifying to face. The reason being is that it isn't just a lot of 'replenishment'. It's not the typical, "end turn and heal this much over the end turn" thing that every faction has.
    For the vampires, if you kill a unit of theirs, no matter how thoroughly you beat them into the ground, there is a set chance for that unit to just auto-respawn after the battle is ended. And the vampire tech-tree has buffs to ensure that the chances of your stronger units, including your legendary and basic lords, have that chance RISE.
    So what Kleaper is talking about isn't just the terrifying prospect of them coming back next turn. It's the fear that the vampires might run head-first into your army, fight you, lose...and then because all their units just rolled well and respawned, they fight you again but you the player haven't had any chance to heal over the course of the end turn. So they can and WILL grind you down.
    Of course, their numbers have been tweaked, so its not AS scary...but the vampires are not someone to mess around with.
    Also, with Vlad, he is easily the most powerful vampire lord because of all his insane buffs and numbers. He has huge pools of regeneration, great magic, and his legendary items make him incredibly tanky and unbreakable. So when Kleaper mentioned the,
    "Now as all fights against vlad goes, his entire army is dead and we have to grind him down" thing?
    That wasn't a joke. He was being serious.
    Vlad is NOTORIOUS for having strong units that fight you, weaken your army, and because the vampire units are so strong, they WILL tear your army apart. But then you somehow manage to best them, out-maneuver them, kill off his entire army...and then Vlad is still alive. He won't break because he's just a Chad, he will still dish out tons of damage, and so if you don't have the raw power to beat him...he will just basically Go'Rok your army and just 1v1,000 you.
    The most typical way to beat Vlad in his later stages is to completely IGNORE HIM, kill his entire army, and then RUN. Literally run your units as far away from him as possible, because part of his regeneration is only triggered if he's in melee. So if you can put distance, use ranged units to whittle his health down, you'll eventually win....*hopefully.* Sometimes you run out of ammo and just HAVE to fight him...and then you lose.
    Another thing to keep in mind with the Empire is that they're sort of...liars. The game offers them to you as a 'all around' sort of faction, using strong melee and ranged units to fight their enemies. That is a blatant lie, as their melee units are all pretty bad in basically every part of the game. They're weak, they won't match up to Orcs, Dark Elves, Lizardmen or basically anyone else. The melee units are all intended to hold the line...and even then, they don't do that particularly well.
    The real strength in the empire is in their magic, their Heroes (such as the paladin boys who can give damage resistance and call down Soulfires) and their ranged units.
    Guns, more guns, and a hell of a lot of prayers will get you through your fights. Artillery to soften up anything attacking you, a hell-storm of bullets to kill your enemies and prayers (and well played heroes) to HOPEFULLY keep your enemies far enough away that your main damage dealing ranged units can do their job.
    They're also in a really rough position where Karl and Balthazar Gelt are SURROUNDED by enemies. It is a rough campaign but its also a super fun one, so despite the game offering it as an 'easy campaign' and 'recommended to start with'....it's not.
    As for your question about the artillery? The artillery you see Kleaper use is called the Hellstorm Rocket Battery. That's specific to the Empire only. Lizard Men don't have access to much Artillery (aside from a few dino units but...they're not really artillery). Once you get later into your campaigns, you'll fight enemies (like the Dark Elves) who will have different forms of artillery to target you. Also, if you fight against archer/ranged heavy armies? Like the dark elves, the elves, or even Tzeentch? If you press and hold 'space bar', you'll see the lines for your ranged units and the enemy ranged units, what they're targeting and so on.
    THAT is when you'll see a *lot* of lines of the enemy targeting you and your units.
    Also, your own artillery CAN hurt your own units, legendary lords included. That includes your archers, your gunners, and so on. It's not just exclusive to the Skaven or the Chaos Dwarfs, the only difference is that the Chaos Dwarfs and the Skaven will ACTIVELY fire REGARDLESS of what is in the way. Your human, elf and the like will fire at enemies but stop entirely firing or try to reposition to avoid hitting your allies.

    The reason burning head can be so strange is because it has a chance to drift off course unlike most of that style of spell but the upside is it just goes for so long that it compensates for any funny drifting but does make it a bit dangerous to drag it along a frontline that is in combat

    Fun fact, there's flavor text on the right side whenever you improve or worsen relations when using Imperial Authority (or Influence for High Elves). For example, it can say you're accepting the other faction's fostering proposal, or it may say that you sent an assassin against another faction's leader WHILE HAVING HIM DRESS AS SOMEONE ELSE (ie sending an assassin against Balthasar Gelt but have him dress in Wissenland colors, for example). Of course, the assassin always fails because this is about relations and not actual assassination, it's basically his job to die, but you get the point.

    a mechanic in total war warhammer 3 is vigor, the more units move around and fight, the more they tire out, making them worse at fighting, letting them rest by not moving them around and keeping them out of combat can help semi negate that, and if a unit has the perfect vigor trait, it is always fully energized, never tiring no matter how much it runs or fights, just like how unbreakable means it can never rout or shatter, fighting to the death

  • @ambionest
    @ambionest 3 місяці тому +1

    In terms of post battle hunting of routed units. They don't give any exp to the units killing them. Whilst in battle routed units do. Buuut they reduce subsequent enemies so i almost always hunt them down to reduce their amount to at least 30% hp if i can.

    Yeah the Empire in Warhammer 3 suffer because so many dlc lords got shoved into their territory, that Franz usually either confederates them because they lose their armies to the other dlc lords. Or they die so fast you never even realize when they died.
    If Franz and Gelt weren’t good lords with so much personality I’d never touch the Empire just because of how difficult the early game is. Worst part is GW has the Empire as a RECOMMENDED starting faction for new players. It makes sense in the other 2 games, but in Warhammer 3 starting with Franz is like going from your first steps as a toddler to the Olympic games where Usain Bolt is your opponent.

    Regarding vigour/exhaustion, they don’t tell you this anywhere ingame, but the debuffs for troop exhaustion are VERY SIGNIFICANT. I can’t tell you the exact numbers, but without exaggeration, an exhausted unit loses roughly half of its general fighting capabilities (no seriously look it up). Yes running can tire units, but so does entering combat, and firing missiles. So if you want to avoid fighting the enemy with weakened units and take advantage of enemy exhaustion, you should be cycling units in and out of fighting, keeping fresh units in reserve to take the place of winded troops midfight. Dont have all your troops fighting if you can avoid it, and try not to get caught out in force march, as having all troops start the battle tired is a tremendous debuff.

    • @ambionest
      @ambionest 3 місяці тому

      It is a gradual scale to i believe 30%-40% reduction in stats at max exhaustion but because of the lower stats of units and large amount of models as opposed to single entities it is far more significant. Perfect vigour ignores all of these debuffs. Which also makes gor rok so incredibly durable a duelist. He never loses efficiency and regens on top of it

    • @TheLegitWeebs
      @TheLegitWeebs  3 місяці тому +1

      Perhaps then it would be better to have a 2nd front line waiting to reinforce the line after the initial clash. Of course it would all depend on the situation and terrain and whatnot, but I do need to get better at spacing out units and creating formations that'll give me better matchups.

    • @ambionest
      @ambionest 3 місяці тому

      one very basic way to utilize it is to have a purely defensive unit like say basic spearmen as they have decent melee def. then a damager unit wrap around the now tied up enemy unit. most commonly it is done with cav but works very well with infantry too, cav variant is called hammer and anvil. where as the infantry variant is more or less surround them or encirclement@@TheLegitWeebs

    So the reason the Empire was given a political system like that, aside from the fact each province is essentially self-sustaining and works like a series of allied nations rather than a true country, is because Karl Franz is the Old World's greatest statesman.
    He isn't the best fighter (without his items he's just a good one), and he's not the greatest tactician (again, he's a good one), and he got to his station by playing the political game. This is why he can play people against each other.
    The most ideal way to play is to make everyone like each kther, gain a ton of your prestige, then make two states hate each other, then each time they want to declare war you use your authority as the Emperor to step in and force them to agree not to go to war. Doing that lets you net Imperial Authority very quickly, and everyone will respect you for doing so.
    As for your question about the Elector Counts, the person pictured is the person who owns the territory, so Festus is pictured because he owns that state. You could ally with him if you wanted to, however it would be an awful, awful idea. Everyone will hate you for doing so, and Festus wants to kill you so badly, that you will need to pay him constant tribute to reconsider. This is before we bring up his Nurgle corruption, which will make your own troops die in your own territory, and you'll also get constant rebellions.
    As for Perfect Vigour, yes it means you don't get tired. Being exhausted is essentially a -20% to -30% to your stats.
    Burning Head is also random, it doesn't always go in a straight line which is why you saw it go the wrong way. I've personally never seen it miss that badly before though, normally it only strays by 5 to 15 degrees.
    I'm going to guess the Chaos Dwarfs had trade relations with Festus and that's why they had trains running across the Empire. Likewise, Cathay runs caravans of their own, which is probably how they opened trade relations in his game.
    The undead coming back to attack you multiple times in one turn IS a thing, Undead can raise the dead from battlefields, so the more bloody a fight, the more they resurrect, and they can keep on coming as long as they aren't 100% killed off.
    Storm of the Night is a Von Carstein ability, which is why Grim was caught off-guard by it, he must've forgotten they had it. Vlad's recovery time comes from his ring, which resurrects him whenever he dies.
    As far as I can tell, Grim is not using any mods for his artillery. Karl does take damage from his own artillery, however he won't be significantly hurt unless you keep using tons of rockets on him or accidentally shoot him with a cannon.
