Hi it wasn't intended to run on the lathe.I left the shaft long so I could run it in and test it on the lathe.Some day I might fit a small motor if I can find/fit one that is nice and compact.Thanks for your comments.I have just started to make a 5"g model loco

Nice work. Solid. Perfectly fine drive with a better platform and as long as you don't plan to use both at the same time.

How much the machine cost?
I hope you finished it off with a proper motor drive and stand.
