I can't stand teachers that do favoritism

Nairobi Lewis I hated it because it was always me the teacher was favoring. And everyone would be so rude about it. Like it’s not my fault the teacher likes me. (Not to sound conceited cuz lord knows I’m not) And it’s not like I went out of my way for the teachers, I was just a good student 😂

Nairobi Lewis I had those teachers who hung out with students outside of class. Like going places with them, going to their house, etc. Creepy.

SO I'm a junior in highschool, I'm also a good student myself never talked back, really shy but very respectful. My sophomore year was when i first met my English teacher from hell, her name is Ms.Benally. At first she just seemed like an average teacher very boring and quick about things. During this time i was getting out of my emo phase, i had a fringe and obviously wore a lot of black. I remember one time i didnt have a vocab book and i told her that from my seat which was at the back of the class, she then said "quit acting like that with your aw i wanna kill myself attitude and come up here," I kinda sat in my seat for a while staring back at her and i guess it ticked her off but she said "am i waiting for you to put your razors away?." Another incident was when she continued with racist slurs, I'm half mexican and she didnt like that so she wanted me to know. From then on I wrote everything down in the back of my binder and when i had enough evidence with dates and times and who witnessed. I took my stacks of papers to my mother, with this she went to the school and raised hell. After that Ms.Benally was talked to, i went to class the next day and the first thing she said after the second bell rang and everyone was in class was, "if you're going to run to the principal and get me in trouble i suggest you leave since you think im not a fit teacher." I left along with 15 other students. Story short, she got fired this year for fist fighting a student. She also had said she didnt like kids and hated teaching. The end

Samera Star , I had verbally abusive 3rd grade teacher. I told my mom... when my mom talked to the teacher my teacher faked her out. She hugged and kissed me in front of my mom.
My teacher killed my confidence... and I truly believed she targeted because I was the only POC kid. Weird thing was that she was black.
I almost failed 3rd grade because I missed so much school. I was so scared and too scared to speak up.

I have a band teacher that probably has issues. So yesterday he screamed at everyone for talking, OUTSIDE. Like, he singled out us trombones (trombone squad where you at?) and trumpets so we were all scared to death. Not the first time he’s done that. One time he skipped past a kid when he told the percussion to play, and when the kid politely corrected him, he FLIPPED. He screamed commands at him (SIT, SPEAK, etc.) and today after the assembly where we had free time he grabbed the mic and screamed “BE QUIET!” and flipped out again. Pretty crappy teacher. Might edit later and add some tea to the tea.

Secret crush on glam this is so true. I get bullied at work. I had a college teacher purposely be extra cruel to me to the point I stressed until I was ill and when I finally asked why she was so harsh to me she said it’s cause I’m too nice and I need to develop a thick skin. The fuck?!! She threatened to fail me and even w a tutor and having the girl who got all A’s in the class check my papers and give advice and I fixed them she still gave me D’s. I literally lost my love for my major because she made me feel like crap. She told me I had no foundation in French I had no right to be in her class and she couldn’t even believe I could have gotten as far as I did in college with my poor skills

  • @MomoShirochan
    @MomoShirochan 5 років тому +74

WARNING: this is a long post.
I didn't have bad teachers as a kid, but I did have a college professor who I didn't like. I'm so happy I had a lot of teachers between elementary school and high school that were nice and understanding. I have severe social anxiety and have been extremely shy for all my life. Most times when teachers call on me asking for answers to questions, most times I knew the answer but was to scared to actually answer. By the time I was in high school, I had teachers who wouldn't just randomly call on students which I appreciated. In college, I still had the same problem. When it came time to answer questions or do presentations, I'd freeze up and, if my anxiety got too much, I'd start to cry. Most of my professors were so nice and helped me find alternatives to this problem so I could still participate in class.
However, I had one professor who was not this person. He was my Language and Linguistics professor. The only reason I took this class is because it was required for my major. This guy said that he would randomly call on people if no one volunteered to speak and wouldn't call on the same person more than once at a time. He also had this high-and-mighty attitude because the was the head of the language department. He thought he was above all of us just because we were students and we had to bend to his will. I still did well in the class but this professor quickly became my least favorite. Even my Meteorology and science professors from my first year at university were nicer and more understanding than this guy.
We were in groups of three going over the homework and he was calling on people to answer questions. He jut walked around the room pointing to people with raised hands and I prayed he wouldn't call on me. Suddenly, he called my name. The entire room was silent. He asked me the question from the homework and just stared at me. I had the answer right in from of me. I knew it, but I couldn't get my words out. My anxiety as in overdrive at this point because I knew I had to answer him but my mouth wasn't working. He asked again. I couldn't speak. He kept pressing em for an answer for a solid minute while everyone else in the room was giving me sympathetic or encouraging looks. But I was already past the point. I was on the verge of tears. After a while, he just sighed and moved onto another student. When his back was turned, my tears streamed down my face.
I knew just about everyone in the classroom since most of us were in the same major and had classes together. Everyone knew what I was like and were always supportive and encouraging to me. There was one time in my Poetry class where we had to present a piece of our work for a final. Everyone took the time to do things to make me more comfortable with presenting. They tried making me laugh and even put their heads down on their desks so I didn't have everyone's eyes on me. I'm telling you, English majors are some of the nicest classmates. It's also how I met my current roommate. My roommate will go all out for her friends. If she finds out that someone did her friend wrong, she will get up in that person's business and call them out on their BS if she needs to. We're both introverts, but she's a hornet's nest you DO NOT want to kick. She didn't tell me about this at the time, but after we moved in together, after a separate incident when I had another anxiety attack, we started talking about that class.
My roommate and I had a few classes together. We met in a past and present literature class and we became instant friends. I was happy when we had the same Language and Linguistics class. She was there when our professor was bullying me for an answer when I was close to tears. And she wasn't having any of it. After class, once everyone left the room, she went up to our professor and called him out. She called him a bully and how I was crying once his back was turned. He didn't give a rat's a**. When she noticed that he didn't care, she went to the Academic Affairs office and reported him and his behavior. She even got some of the other students from our class to testify to what he did. I didn't realize it at the time, but he never called on me again. Knowing what my roommate did for me make me appreciate her all the more. Hopefully that professor learned something from that experience. I can only hope. All I know is I never have to see him again.

@@dorkbait but he obviously knew she had social anxiety. Obviously you don’t know what that is like but nonetheless he could have asked her the questions privately or just made sure she knew the material but he didn’t have to call on her in front of the rest of the class.

As someone who is going to school to become a teacher one day, I am honestly DISGUSTED by Mrs. Jefferson and what she made you do!! Reminds me of bathroom passes freshman-juniors normally got at my school by some teachers. One teacher had only 3 for the enitre year. 3. After the 3 you'd get detention, so people who used up their passes would just hold it and run to the bathroom. Luckily my english teacher freshman year told us we could go whenever we wanted and showed us that it is our basic human right to go to the restroom when we need to

Some of my teachers last school year wouldnt let us pee in the middle of class when you have to go badly. They always say that you couldve peed in snack break or lunch break. And that doesnt make sense because you dont need to pee at that time. Alot of me and my classmates always had a problem with that😂.

I’ve had a few similar experiences myself. I remembere in middle school that there were two teachers I had who ALWAYS favorited the popular pretty girls. There was one girl in particular that ALWAYS was favorited. Then there was an incident in junior high with the librarian. It was towards the end of the school year and we were watching a movie in our science class and the teacher told us whoever didn’t want to watch it could go to the library. So i went to the library and as soon as I walked in the library, the librarian looks at me and gives me this attitude and says “what are you doing here?” And I explained to her what my teacher said. So she looks at me and points to the book shelves where the books were starting to be put away for the summer and she says to me “you see those books over there?” And i was like “Yeah” and she says “now, i see you have a magazine with you, thyat’s good because if you even TOUCH those books I’m going to hang you up by your thumbs” Needless to say, I was stunned and wasn’t even sure what to make of the situation. So anyways, it was towards the end of the day so i went and got in the car with my mom and told her what happened. Lets just say my mom was PISSED. So the next day, i went to the class per usual and my mom went to talk to the librarian. She goes into the library and slams a dime on the counter (i owed a small fee of like a nickel or some bs like that) and my mom says to the librarian in her “i’m Mad, but i’m Trying not to yell tone” and she says “i don’t appreciate the way you spoke to my daughter” or something like that and “she has medical issues and has enough to deal with” and of course the librarian starts kissing her ass and saying “oh i’m So sorry, i didn’t know that, blah blah blah” and then she asks her if she wants change for her dime and my mom says “no keep the change” and walks out of the library. The librarian didn’t give me any issues after that and after that i went and sat in the nurses office and talked to her instead. Literally no one liked this librarian NO ONE.

In high school I had a lot going on. My mom was getting a divorce and had to work more to pay for the house on her own and I had my own kid and I had to help her with my siblings. But I was smart. My algebra teacher sent homework home a lot and I didn’t do it because I was great at algebra and I would spend my time doing homework for classes that were harder for me and I needed to work on. But every time we would take tests, I’d get As. Usually 100%. She would get very frustrated that I could do the tests without doing the homework. Well one time I got 98% and she came up to my desk and told me maybe I would have done better if I did the homework. The kid next to me got a low grade. Like less than 50%. And I just said “are you seriously yelling at me for 98% when someone next to me failed?” She hated me because I refused to do homework but I still got an A in her class.

On a more positive note there are some good hearted teachers out there! One time in 2nd grade I needed to pee reallllyyy bad in the middle of Mrs. Haines math teaching. I was too shy and timid to interrupt the class to go to the restroom and I couldn’t hold my bladder so I peed myself and all over the books in my desk... in front of the entire class! Mrs. Haines sent me to the office to call my mom for some pants. I didn’t realize it back then, but I know for a fact Mrs. Haines lectured my classmates to not dare tease or bully me about it because, I not ONCE heard about it from anyone when I came back to class or the rest of the year. I bet "Daniella" would be star struck if she saw Nikki today. Funny how the tables turn. The pretty, popular girl in my school (who I was best friends with, but she always acted better than me) is now in prison & strung out on drugs. I feel really bad for her, but this is how it usually goes. Their high school fame doesn't last past high school. In most cases, anyway.

STORY TIME from your Glamazon! :
I have had various incidents like this! Your story has made me realize that I wasn't the only one. In sixth grade my math teacher screamed at me in front of everybody because I was the only one that failed the math quiz, she said "you are the only one that it's going to keep this school from being exemplary" ( Till this day, Those words are painful . I was just a sixth grader!. ) I wasn't book smart when I was little nor am I now but since the day she told me that, I stride to study more and achieve more success. Weeks afterwards I shut her face when the TAKS results came backs and I made 96% ! Even my principle congratulated me on my success. Yes Bii. I did it ! For me , NOT for her.
In my freshman year of highschool , I suffered 2 incidents. A coach who I saw as my mentor but all he really wanted was to take advantage of me ( He is in jail now for various assault charges) , This hurt me mentally so much because I relied on him alot and failed to realize why teachers didn't find it odd why i would be with him 24/7 or He'll lend me his phone like nothing even give me money! My mind was very innocent and didn't take all this as a bug sign. The other incident happen with my gym coach, He began to tease me by taking my small journal and as i tried to take it back , I acciendently pushed his glassed which then they fell on the floor. He then reacted by choking me! He picked me up and pinned me against the wall. His aid and other students saw but never said a word. I even went to administration and they believed I was just playing around because he was just a sweet old man.
And through it all they are the exact reason why I'm studying education and will be a great teacher and example for my future coworkers and students.
I'm a preschool teacher at the moment and truely love my sixteen 3 year olds! I do not have an aid so although it's stressful . I can not imagine mistreating them phyically nor mentally. These are my loves and I pray for their safety, health and success. Being an educator is such a blessing. !

I’m from Dallas too. I’m 19 now but when I was in fourth grade I was in a bilingual class which was a class for Spanish and English speaking students. There was one day that our teacher didn’t come to school so we had a substitute teacher. (remind you this class is a bilingual class) so this sub was not a bilingual teacher therefore he only spoke English. At one point I guess the class got too loud and at the top of his old ass lungs he yelled “If you want to talk Spanish then go back to Mexico!” And the whole class shut up and we just looked at each other. That was the first time we were discriminated for speaking our native tongue and by a TEACHER! He was just a crusty ass viejito that all the School faculty loved but if they only knew...

OK STORYTIME!!! I ain't hiding this teacher's name either i hope she sees this!
So i was 8 years old and in 3rd grade when this happened, I am 20 now. Keep in mind i was never the "bad child" i respected my elders and teachers. My family and i were happily living in this trailer park in Michigan, my dad gets a job opportunity in Berwick Louisiana that looked like it could be really good for us(it was just my parents, myself, my younger sister, and our cat), so we moved down there, and i started school the following monday. My main teacher's name was Mrs. Williams and i couldn't quite put my finger on why but i just instantly was very intimidated by her. The first day in general was just AWKWARD i had to stand in front if the class, introduce myself and tell everyone where i came from, etc. and for the rest of the day she was just rude like she'd had a bad day and was taking it out on me. The next day, we start our 20 minutes of silent reading, and she was furious at me only because i prefered to read with my book standing up, afterwards we get into our spelling test. Now keep in mind, before the move i had JUST STARTED learning how to write in cursive, well apparently i was expected to know cursive by 3rd grade so she called me out in front of the class tbasically saying i was dumb for not knowing cursive before moving to this school and for not addressing her as "ma'am" as that wasn't something i was used to. All the other teachers i had didnt have a single problem with me as a student. I had a teacher in gym, math, and music. None of them saw a single issue with me. I wanna say it was Wednesday or Thursday i purposely ate too much before school so I'd be too "sick" to go lol!! 😇 the next day, Mrs. Williams gets about 2-3 inches away from my face practically yelling "I don't care that you're new here, you will not act like a fool like you have been since you've gotten here, im calling your parents in here for a conference after school!" So now I'm terrified.
My mom and dad come in and the teacher is telling them my "awful behavior" and immediately they know shes lying cuz every single teacher I've had before this woman knows i am an angel in the class.. I don't remember exaclty what my dad said to her, i just remember him start to raise his voice at her and mom leads me out to the car, telling me i don't have to go in that building ever again..

Kendra Clark I never want to meet a teacher who thinks reading with your book in a certain position and not knowing something you haven’t been taught is “awful behavior” and “acting like a fool”...

Kendra Clark You didn't do anything. Whatever that bitch's problem she had with you was all her.
None of it was you're fault girl.
I was singled out by a couple of my teachers too when I was younger, so I know how you feel, but honestly some people are just shitty people for whatever reason.

I was (and still am) an introvert growing up, I remember in 4th and 5th grade I had this teacher named Ms. Campbell, and I was always fascinated with literature, anytime I heard or read something that had a big word, I would put it down in the vocabulary list in my head, and practice using the word; I remember my teacher would get so upset when I used big words, she would say, "Why can't you talk like the other kids do? You're not grown enough to use those words."
One time I asked her if I could go use the restroom, and I was always embarrassed to say "restroom" out loud, so I used "facilities" and she called me out in the class like "No! It's restroom! You can't go if you don't say the original word!" And I was so embarrassed, and hurt, and didn't understand what was wrong with using other vocabulary.
She used to do a lot of favoritism too, and she used to favorite my best friend at the time. I remember my best friend would say big vocab words too, and my teacher always encouraged her, like "Wow that's wonderful!", but with me, she would obviously say I need to be a normal kid. I was always sad in her class, because I didn't understand why she treated me differently.

I can relate because I had this one teacher in the 4th grade(she is a reading teacher), I didn’t mind her, but a lot of the kids in my class didn’t like her. 5th grade rolls around and she happens to switch to 5th grade and keeps all the student she had in her previous class. In Texas we have an Texas State assessment (called a STARR), it determines if we go to the next grade or not, 5th graders take the reading, math, and science STARR, and let me tell you reading is not my specialty. The STARR comes around and all the 5th graders take it. A few weeks later we get the scores back. My teacher calls each student up, one-by-one and writes a “Yes” or “No” if we passed or failed it. My turn comes around and I am really nervous to open it, but I finally do. I look at my teacher and she looks at me and says in this angry voice, “You shouldn’t be surprised.” I will never forget what she said. I wish I could tell her “ You are the reading teacher after all, so shouldn’t that reflect your teaching skills.” Luckily I got to take it a second time and passed, so I got to go to 6th grade.

I’m a first grade teacher and my kids are EVERYTHING to me. I constantly remind them how loved and cared for they are. I also have students that have speech a couple of times a week and that part in your story made me HEATED! that woman did not deserve to be called a teacher. And every other teacher that ever made you feel small, didn’t deserve to be there either. I am SO sorry you were put through that..😔❤️

that second story hit HARD for me. i am 24 year old who stammers( stuttering) & i use to go to speech classes like the one you described in middle school. i was a quite child that did her work and didnt bother anyone. Still stutter til this day i don’t let it affect me too much. my teachers were all well aware that i had to left the classroom for 30mins or so. i feel so bad you went thru that😓 no child should ever feel like that.
