    So right about Steve Angelli. That drive was crucial for ND going into halftime.

    • @dashx1103
      @dashx1103 12 днів тому +1

      There is an interesting additional note about Angeli: back in the ‘22 recruiting cycle, ND got Angeli (3* recruit) while PSU got Allar (5* recruit). ND recruited Allar too, but there was a narrative amongst recruitniks that ND “settled” for Angeli and didn’t try hard enough to land Allar. Things worked out the way they did, but I find it interesting how story lines often come back around.

    Mike's Franklin rant about running up the score was so good

  • @GameEscape
    @GameEscape 15 днів тому +7

    What Mike missed in his breakdown was that Franklin didn't just decide not to throw the deep ball, it was that Allar was playing with zero confidence and struggled with accuracy and decision- making all night. When Allar underthrew the running back for an easy walk-in TD in the 1st quarter, you could tell that he was shaken. After that, when Allar did throw, he was either high or wobbly. If Franklin made any mistake, it was that he didn't bench Allar and see if their backup could throw a catchable ball. This game was painful to watch if you were a Penn State fan.

    The last PI call that negated the INT at 17-17 was a terrible call. The receiver (Warren) was triple covered and the ball has terribly under thrown. As an official you have to use judgement and common sense. Not just interpret a rule.

      @ronniethomas8780 14 днів тому +2

      yeah I don't know what Mike is talking about when he says ND has susceptible to the long ball all year, that's false. Now, they've given up some long passes in a few games, but what program doesn't, and considering the number of injuries on the defensive side of the ball and that ND has had to rely on several freshmen db's to step and get the job done is incredible and shows the talent on this team that for some reason people still question. Elite WR help is on the way, and I think ND will be more of a prolific passing team next season, although their forte will always be running the ball!

    Penn State qb threw 3 picks, not one. Refs bailed him out twice. I didn’t trust him at the end, and he threw a pick after a good ND pass rush. Penn State should have played for the ot. Penn State qb was shaky all night. It wasn’t the coach’s fault.

      They are very athletic though. That defense, particularly the secondary, is as fast & athletic as any unit in CFB. Jeremiyah Love is also one of the most electric guys in the country with the ball in his hands. Unfortunately he hasn’t been healthy for the entire playoffs.

    Thank you, Mike, for your stellar coverage. We are lucky to have you.
    I’m sure you’d agree: Notre Dame gets the checkmark for what your friend Jimmy the Greek would have called the “intangible.” There is a will to compete and win there.
    I think it has a great deal to do with their coach, who never panics, and seems to truly have the interest of his players at heart. (Unlike the previous guy, who abandoned his Cincinnati team on way to ND, and threw college student athletes under the bus with regularity over his tenure.)
    Win or lose, and I’m hoping they win, it’s been a great season for which I’m thankful. Go Irish ☘️

    I gotta say, I thought ND was losing that game about 3 times. When Penn State put together that overpowering drive to take the 10 pt lead, when Riley threw that pick in the fourth quarter, and then when ND was forced to punt with about a minute to go. ND really showed me something by pulling this one out. Onward To Victory!!!

    PSU fan forever. It just seems that these good teams that PSU runs into are coached better. A top team does not have zero WR presence. There has to be a coaching problem in the WR room as it can't all fall on talent. It would have been a terrific win but ND is better coached. The wins over SMU and Boise State carry very little value as they would not beat half the Big10 teams. Going forward into a $1B stadium renovation, what is the best coaching direction? Franklin is a good recruiter, but I question the rest.
