This technology has existed since 1963 with the Yak 36.
Literally work on F35s daily and watching these videos still amazes me. Such a great aircraft. Only gets better and better from where it started.

The amount of fuel it's burning while in a hover has to be insane. I can tell you that it's loud as heck. I've had the pleasure of seeing and hearing one of these up close during Fleet Week in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In hover mode it uses a Honda lawn mower engine

Vertical takeoff and hovering is crazy, sure makes it a lot easier and safer to land on an aircraft carrier!!!
That's just minor advantage. Major advantage is the airforce, not the navy, since now any road, any empty flat area can become your airbase. Enemy destroying every single airbase in your country with missle attack? No big deal
Vertical take-off and hovering is not helpful for landing, unless this aircraft can land vertically from high speed, which I do know believe would be possible
@tr guestme it can both take off and land vertically, and of course the condition for vertical landing is that the aircraft needs to stay still in the air first

When it is used with small mini carriers it will be a deadly combination. It will mean that even small carriers will be able to saturate naval war space.
Certain countries are going to modify their helicarriers to enable F-35 to operate from them.

Yeah, while only flying sub-sonic speeds, no stealth capabilities, requiring a water supply to cool the engines that has to be refilled every flight, inferior flight controls and weapons systems...
It's roles were very limited and it never proved any real advantages.

The fighters computer must do an insane amount of calculations.
It's amazing how the fighter uses vectored thrust and can maneuvered its afterburner for vertical take offs.
Really? Nasa went to the moon on the computing power of a calculator.
The Harrier did it better than this in 1967 with virtually no computers and a tiny fraction of the cost.

Yeah, the Harrier is the king of VTOL, somehow it seems as if it does it more effortlessly, it doesn't need to go into full Starscream mode.
And it did it 60 or so years ago!
Harrier is possibly the only in-service aircraft that was not design and made in the US.
Imagine building an aircraft that could do this and was actually battle tested

I was with an engineer battalion in the desert with the marines 1989 to 1991 and these jets use to come in and refuel they are loud as hell.. Awesome to see take off and land..
The F35 didn’t fly until 2006 - unless you’re talking about the AV-8B Harrier

When I worked there , two of these vertically landed and vertically took off in the huge parking lot at Allison Engine Company before Rolls Royce bought them out because Allisons helped develop a component that was used on the jets . It was just a bonus to show what the workers had made possible . Only the workers were allowed to be in the area and security was insane !!

Российские самолёты активно участвуют в боевых действиях, а эта игрушка может только в красивых видосиках сниматься. Кстати стоит эта игрушка как бюджет некоторых стран, намного дороже чем те же российские истребители и 90% тех кто восхищаются им в своей стране не имеют собственных разработок истребителей.

日本のヘリコプター搭載護衛艦にも搭載できるから必ず必要になる時が来るという事で安倍元首相が更にA型63機 B型42機を追加注文したんでしたね

F35 is obese and very slow though, F22 is much faster but they going to retiring it very soon.
@@ernestochaparro8751 Most of it's issues have been worked out, and it is becoming ubiquitous with the United States and many of it's allies. Germany is now even set to purchase 35 of them. The F-35 is head and shoulders above anything operated by most of the rest of the world, Russia and China included. The F-22 and the F-35 are true 5th generation fighter jets, while the SU-57 and the J-20 are at best 4.5 generation platforms.
Es un avión que me encanta, la estabilidad que tiene es excepcional. Comparado al viejo Harrier ,el F35 es un muy buen remplazo. A pesar que muchos han tenido problemas al menos eso dicen, creo que el F35 a mejorado cada día más y seguirá haciéndolo.

The vertical take off is great from my home tallest point and I could be at work (50 km away) in a matter of 3 minutes?! Yes. That is much better than the 60-90 usual minutes due to traffic accidents and jams!

It's actually a VTOL in addition to the million other features. Impressive!
Actually no its STOVL, as if it could take off with full armament it would have to re-fuel immediately, that is why in the video the vertical take off is actually EMPTY!!!.. This plane will not deploy VTOL to combat, it would be more of a short take off and maybe vertical landing and remember ONLY the B model does this and it loses other capabilities..

かなり前に、このF-35Bは、短距離離陸、垂直着陸機であって、垂直離着陸機ではないと力説していた人に疑問を持っていたが、正しくは垂直離着陸できる機体だが、専ら(空母)の運用は短距離離陸、垂直着陸運用機という事ですね。
今理解した。
垂直離着陸くそ燃費悪いので離陸時は短距離離陸みたいですね
兵装や燃料を満載すると垂直離陸は不可能なのです。VTOLのハリアーでさえ不可能です。F-35BはSTOVLといって短距離離陸、垂直着陸の運用を最初から前提に開発された機体です。因みに艦載機の通常発艦するFA-18や過去のF-14でもフル兵装&燃料満載だとカタパルトがあっても発艦不可能なので空中給油を受けて任務に就きます。艦載機のF-35Cも同じです。航空母艦と空中給油機はセットなのです。

Most missions only require a few missiles and a gun. The F-35 has capacity for 4 missiles and 2 JDAMs outside. Plenty of capacity.
