2 of my previous car projects (‘68 Camaro convertible and ‘77 Trans Am/t-top car) both got subframe connectors and it completely transformed how those cars rode and handled. Money well spent.
@ in addition to subframe connectors the Trans Am also got “cowl braces” which connected the upper control arm location and the pinch weld for the cowl and firewall. This “triangulated” the subframe with the body and really made the front suspension work as it should.
On a uni body subframe connectors are a must...my 74 charger has homemade subframe connectors...and will be getting torque boxes as well...later b body cars also need the iron biscuits on the k frame to tie in the front frame rails like the earlier cars had with solid mounting k frame and and all the ioso rubber deleted... Firm feel makes them in aluminum...and I have them on my 76 charger and the car rides like a dart A body rather than a b body now... My 72 Dart will get the full stiffening treatment from US car tool it's well worth the money and time to do.
Another great video Brother!! I bought my sub-frame connectors because of a previous video you made. Always great information and insight on why you need these parts!!
@thebull9212 you made the right choice getting those subframe connectors it's really going to help stiffen up the Cuda, how is appreciate your support brother !
I love that I don't know what you look like. Love your videos. So many other you tube videos are mostly someone talking into the camera. As if to say "Look at me! Look at me!" Your videos get to the point and show the work and don't waste my time.
Good morning Robert, another great video. Those frame connectors really fit up nice and snug. You got them looking like the factory should have done it this way. Take care and good luck.
Built my own very simple subframe connectors. Used them on early Mustang convertibles. These cars were solid well restored cars. The connectors made a huge, positive impact on handling and body fit.
Anything that stiffens the chassis will reward you with overall suspension, steering, and cornering improvements. In the 70s my brother had a high horsepower Chevy Vega. He got it cheap because the owner got the front wheels off the ground. The body twisted so much one wheel barely reached the ground. As he worked at a body shop they straightened the chassis and built frame pieces to connect the front to the rear. That car was a monster.
I like the more integral approach like USCT and have installed DSE subframe connectors in both first and second gen Camaros. Awesome information as always!!
Thanks for the video Robert, one of my projects is a Dart Sport and those would be perfect for my build since I’m hopping it up a bit and swapping to a 4 spd . Nice work, looks totally factory. Have a great weekend!
Great video, I had bought a set of the USCT connectors for my 64 Fury Convt. Fixing rusty floor first. Good point on supporting frame. Tempting to use car lift, but as you said, would throw geometry off. Especially on a convertible. Thanks for the tips. BTW, I have a 67 Guzzi.
As usual a nice clean thorough job-hope you will make a video of installing trunk hinges and how to adjust them, mine is a 63 chevy 2 and it has been tampered with; just do not know how to correct them-the 61 to 64 impalas are the same just a larger car.thanks for all your videos so helpful!
@guzzifabrication3448 the trunk lid did not fit correctly when I bought the car or close nicely I have removed the lid and it looks like one of those long bars may be in the wrong spot not sure I am more of a painter than a body man
Put them on my Mustang, and all yhe creaks and rattled went away and it handled so much better. Same thing with my Taurus. Before I could barely do speed limit on corners. The only time reinforcement could be a bad idea is strut tower bars on the BACK of FWD cars. Thr back ends come around ALOT easier when removing ANY amount of throttle mid corner, aside from that however they have nothing but benefit, so you just gotta decide whats best for how you drive. My track car yes, my daily no.
Nice video, thanks. But it sure seems like the connector on that Cuda is a pretty thin gauge, thinner than the frame it was welded to. I thought for sure it would have to be a heavier gauge to help with the flex, but I guess that isn't the case....
@@richcaseaxon Thanks for watching and the comment, the strength comes from the shape of the connector, a box or rectangle is always going to increase the strength.
Thanks again for your video Robert. What is the time frame for your store? I was going to patch a wheel well hole this weekend and use tools that you recommend.

Having build and repaired many warriors , track day cars, i have seen many mods, one thing one needs to keep in mind is that the car bodyshell is at its weakest point between the A and B pillar in a 2cdoor car or C pillar in a 4 door car, how weak is the body shell (one without rust) jack the car up on the front spring hanger of rear spring about 6 inches off the ground, check the door gap, 😂 then try and open the door, 😂 pony cars are like wet noodles, deven the " full frame cars " are floppy, now try and work out why fitting 1000 lb per inch race springs and 1 5/8" anti roll bars dont make your car corner better but cracks up your body shell instead, If you want to go fast it doesnt start with a 600 hp motor, it starts with homework lots and lots of homework (planning) 600hp motor needs 1200hp brakes, it needs proper seats you sit in " not on" safety harness ( and use it) 60 year old cars didnt handle, couldnt stop, and the driver was just a passenger

Why was the the stiffener painted inside before welding? Was it treated for rust?
