Middle aged Woman of colour here in Canada and I’ve been taking d3 for sixteen years at elevated levels in the winter, just wanted to say how difficult it’s been to get a doctor to listen until recently and I’m happy that Dr. Campbell is exposing our knowledge gap. Vit D deficiency has long been thought to be a POC problem which the medical community had consigned to a special interest category until now. Glad I never listened to them.

actaully their is a huge difference the reason people of Africa developed melanin in the skin is diet and climate , As africa is generally sunny all year round, Africans are more adapted for their skin too resist and have high tolerance too sun damage and would not be vitamin D deficient in that climate ..and the diet has alot less meats that have high concentrations of vitamin d and Zinc , where Caucasians and Aboriginals in Europe , Canada , Ireland , ect did not develop Melanin in their skin and instead got a majority of their Vitamin D and Zinc from the hearty meats(Bison, Deer , Cow , Bear , Moose , Seals , clams ,) that was regularly in their diet thus suited and adapted too their climate and area which was 6 months winter and 6 months summer !!! i did do alot of research and history which has actually shown essentially we are the same but the reason for such things as races is the same as the rest of the animals around us like several forms of frogs, Wolves , bears , monkeys ect their all have different species of the same animal but differ in appearance and some other features due too their evolution being in one habitat for many many centauries causing adaptation and evolution too be best suited and acclimated too that specific region or habitat . this happened before any countries where ever established and caused different species of humans too emerge and develope and their was only one continent called Pangea !!!! and was mostly just lush rainforests and swamps lush with life . the splitting of continents caused humans too diverge and new climates and temps and continents where formed the different climates caused new species of humans too emerge after a time while isolated and surviving in new climates .... was interesting too learn and surprising this isnt in every highschool would give a deeper understanding of races and we might just do away with the word races and replace it with Species ....this also raises the question will Africans after 1000 years start too Acclimate and lose melanin after living in a 6@6 climate maybe just maybe or will caucasian people living in africa start getting Darker after living their for 1000 years maybe just maybe lol i am already seeing in in real time East indian friends getting peeling skin and completely white underneath !!! and now look Caucasian !!!! then their me Aboriginal and when im in the sun during the summer my skin gets dark bronze or red ish and i look completely Caucasian during the winter months !!!

I'm a retired NHS Consultant haematologist, and want to comment on near patient testing. While hometesting like "your personalised vitamins" can be very convenient, this test kit does not mention what its accuracy or confidence levels are, nor does it include any kind of positive control. I couldn't find any data about its accuracy eg whether 22 ng/mLmight mean 22=/- 5 ng/mL on its website. It would be an interesting test to try out 3 test kits to see how similar the results are . I look forward to seeing how it compares to the postal NHS kit. Meanwhile thank you John Campbell for all your COVID coverage, which I watch almost daily, and am taking 3000 iu vit D3, increasing to 4000 iu after this.

Two things should be mentioned about Vit D3.
    1) It is a fat soluble vitamin so it is better taken as a capsule rather than a tablet
    2) As well as improving your immune system, it aids the uptake of calcium. This additional calcium can get deposited in the artery wall unless you increase your intake of vit K1/K2, which encourages its storage in the bones. Supplementation is the easiest way. Many supplement companies are now offering D3/K2 combination capsules.

My considerable internet research has finally paid off and recognized with extremely good facts to exchange with my
friends and the world. Medical Doctors and Dermatologists said (HSV 1&2, Herpes zosters) do not have a medical cure because the virus is capable of hiding within the human cells, it remains protected from your immune system. Herpes isn't an incurable virus! your immune system has the tools to fight it back. But because it is able to lay dormant in protected cells, your immune system is unable to remove it from your body, But with strong reactive herbal medication, it is capable of getting rid of the virus gradually and totally from your body without any side effects, natural herbs kill the virus totally not just reducing the outbreaks. I just got my test result today after 7 days of using the herbal Medication and it came out Negative to both HSV 1&2.im so delighted I recommend this to anyone suffering from herpes virus. John, I watched an interview with a professor who had spent 50 years researching vitamin D, and fifteen years ago he discovered the immune importance. I recommend it, but have forgotten his name! When I find it again I'll let you know. He was fascinating on the massive importance of D in all bodily processes.
His assment of amount in blood is based on a lot of research, but largely on two facts; modern hunter gatherers in Africa [living as close a life to that lived by our forebears] have a level between 40-60 ng, and that's exactly the same for nursing mothers to give their offspring sufficient in milk.
He therefore stated that 40-60 is what's needed, and hius suggested supplement was 6,000IU D3 daily. But more if levels are very low.
Since it can take months to get levels up in the blood, I'm taking 10,000 IU daily.

The controversy is that for some reason that God only knows, we are not being reminded about the already existing recommendations about supplements of vitD, even though there are enough indications that it is even more important during this pandemic. Some journalists prefer to actually scare people so they do not supplement vitD, which seems almost like criminal behavior. I have been trying to convince several doctors for years to check my vitamin D status in my blood when checking on my blood annually. They all rejected to do so, even though I would have payed for this lab test myself. Now I belong ,due to complex PTSD and my age being over 50, to the so-called predestined people to get an infection, no matter what kind, especially during the winter months, while the sun is too low. Additionally, I hardly go outside during daylight because of my complex PTSD. So I always wanted my Vitamin D blood level checked every winter and I don't trust those tests by mobile phone or by sending in a dried blood drop for lab examination.
Finally, in November 2020, I started my PTSD therapy, and my clinical doctor was prepared to check my vitamin D blood level. Mine was lower than 4 ng / ml blood and less than 4 nanogramms per ml blood is EXTREMELY low! So, as I had explained to the docotors before so many times, my low Vitamin D level actually was the reason for a number of symptoms, such as alopecia, which I suffered from for more than 22 years (!), skin rashes and great sensitivety leading to Neurodermitis, extreme sweating, bad sight and cataract on both eyes, etc. So since the test in November 2020, I receive vitamin D from the clinic.
This is in Germany, if you would like to know. I hope, that medical doctors in the rest of Europe do better than those in Germany, who actually REFUSE to believe in lack of vitamins in modern times, and therefore refuse to check blood thoroughly, no matter what symptoms do accur. Now I am a quite eloquent person, and also neither dumb nor uneducated, so I insisted on my blood test for vitamin D until I received it. I suppose, many people out there don't even know how efficient a decent vitamin D level is, and therefore don't even ask for this lab test their medical doctors or whoever does their medical treatments and check-ups.
And of course, I still cannot understand, why vitamin D is not generally checked on twice a year (autumn / fall and spring), not even with people, who are, comparatively speaking, quite predetermined or most likely to be infected by any kind of bacteria or virus. And I just can't comprehend why vitamin D levels haven't even been checked generally from day 1 of the Covid19 infections until now. This is, what really aggravates me, because it is such an inexpensive blood test, which any medical aid person can carry out, and especially during times, when nobody really knows how to act, vitamin D distribution is both, the most effective and the cheapest way to go.
Vitamin D is so helpful, because it is involved in so many metabolic processes, and the test can be performed by any medical professional or nurse. Also, I would like to ask you this: why haven't medical professionals, who must be aware of the regular vitamin D deficiency and of the sun positions in European winter months, demanded broad-based studies on vitamin D blood levels among the population?
BTW my daughter in law gave birth to my youngest grandchild in the beginning of April 2020 and is still nursing the baby boy. Not even she was informed about the health issues caused by the lack of vitamin D, nor was she even informed about the possibility to check her viatmin D blood level. Since she is nursing fully, baby has enough vitamin D from mother, but a nursing mom is very likely to get a vitamin D defficiency even during summer months, when the sun over Europe is quite high, and even if her outdoor life is remarkable.Yet handing out influenca shots and vaccinations, that haven't been tested as thoroughly as usual medicines, it given to all pregnant women and nursing mothers! I believe that these are topics, medical professionals need to focus on at any time, but especially now, when in some countries not even lockdowns seem to help.

I don't know for sure but I suspect that I may have caught COVID but if so the Symptoms have been very mild.
I got what I initially thought was a Cold with a slightly stuffy nose, and Low Grade fevers on and off.
I have not experienced any breathing issues any worse than the usual (I have Asthmatic Bronchitis/COPD)
My nose dried up after only a couple of days and a couple days after that I COMPLETELY lost my Sense of Smell.
Its like one Day I could smell just fine and the next Day absolutely nothing - it was like someone had turned off a switch.
This whole thing began early last Week - I stopped having the Low Grade fevers yesterday but I still cannot smell a thing and my nose and Sinuses are absolutely dry.
There is no reason why I should not be able to smell anything.
I got ahold of my Care Team over at the Hospital and asked about an Antibody Test and they told me that if I want one I should wait for about 3 Weeks after my Quarantine is over (I'm in Quarantine now).
There are other Supplements that I have been taking too , some that I already had been taking for many years and others that I added in February and March of last year.
I won't know for sure whether I actually had COVID until I get the Antibody Test, though.
I could have gone in for a COVID Test but I had no way to get to the testing Site (I don't have a Car) so I opted to wait until this blows over.
COVID is very strange though - some Folks have little to no Symptoms but it kills others and everything in between.
Really, I felt like it was just a matter of time anyway (since COVID is all over there place here) and I was hoping that if I did happen to catch it, that all the Supps I'm taking would do whatever they could and that it would be a mild Case.
Could still be just a weird Cold (won't know for sure w/o Testing) but even with a Cold one can smell something, even if its just the Mucous in the nose...I literally cannot smell a thing.

The problem with serum tests is that they only test blood levels not cellular levels. With minerals for instance, such as magnesium, potassium, etc, only a small percentage of the amount in the body is actually in the blood. Because the body will draw on cellular resources in order to maintain blood homeostasis, what shows in the blood does not accurately indicate the true amount in the cells. It is possible that blood levels may seem ok, yet the cells might be starving! Only when cellular resources drop so far that it is too low for the body to draw on might blood levels drop.

They recommended only using soap on armpits and groin area and just washing the rest of the body with plain water. There is no soap in nature so guess that washing in just water is how we evolved. yes there is a lot of lowering intake "propaganda". if you go through it, you get amazing effects. after reading the book of Jeff bowels I took 70 000/day for a year. then reduced it to 25 000/day. all bone break weaknesses from my youth healed completely and i never got the cold again (4 years now) and never got sunburn (I'm red haired). overall more energy, better sleep and more alife. off course in combination with Mg and K2

Thanks Dr. Campbell for all that you are doing. I've been taking 10,000 IUs/day for the last six months. I had my level checked using Everlywell.com and it was at 62 which is pretty good considering 60-70 is optimal. I've adjusted the dosage down to 6,000 IUs/day and will retest in three months. I would suggest everyone get their levels checked and adjust the dosages depending on the results.

My doctor prescribed vitamin D years ago because he was concerned that the off the shelf brands did not always contain what they claimed. Maybe Dr. Campbell is not getting the true dose that the container claims and is therefore under dosing himself resulting in lower vitamin D levels than expected.

This is interesting, I like the way you've described this, thank you. My understanding is that normal levels for vitamin D were lowered upon learning that most are have low levels....so how levels are determined are not necessarily focused on optimum levels by the least. Also it would be helpful to do a video on how to increase absorption of vitamin D. Not all supplements are created equal, liposomal forms may be more easily available for the body to use. Also vitamin K or eating greens along with vitamin D supposedly help with absorption. Would love a video on this aspect.

OTOH, most multi-vitamin pills contain a lot of vitamin/mineral supplement we don't really need. So people start them, notice how dark their urine is, and think they don't need the supplements after all.

Ive since never had a cold in 5 years. This was after global executive travel where prior i was always ill with colds. I have continued to take 10,000iu per day and have maintained that level. It beggars belief that the medical system does not know this after years of research. In fact when covid started I immediately gave this to my parents in their 70’s. Astonishingly my dads doctor said it was “dangerous” and dont take it. He then jabbed him with double dose flu shot which made him ill for months.
